Think I found a workaround to reduce spammy notifications

I was looking in a reolink forum and saw somebody mention that you can create an automation to reduce spammy notifications so I looked in my Wyze app to see if we could do it too and by God we can.

Simple solution to “update failed”?

Hey guys,

I think I may have found a simple fix for camera updates that keep failing. I’m sure some of you have already tried this, but it worked for me.

I tried updating my Pan Cam v3 yesterday, and the update kept failing. I unplugged the camera for about 10 seconds, plugged it back in, and the update installed with no problem.

Notification Frequency Slider

Hey guys, just had a thought I wanted to share. I also posted this in the Wyze Wishlist Forum:

I was thinking—if you don’t have Cam Unlimited Pro with the NBD filter, or don’t have a subscription at all, the “Complete Motion Detected” notifications and person, pet, and vehicle alerts can get really spammy. Snoozing notifications for an hour doesn’t seem like a great solution either, especially from a security standpoint.

I think it would be awesome if Wyze added something as simple as a notification frequency slider. For example, you could choose how frequently the camera is allowed to send repeat notifications for ongoing or similar activity. That would cut down on unnecessary alerts without forcing you to completely snooze notifications.

I’ll be honest: if I hadn’t upgraded to Cam Unlimited Pro, I probably would have switched brands. I was actively looking because the constant notifications made the cameras feel unreliable when they’d repeatedly alert for things like trees, shadows, or other insignificant movement. Detection zones help, but they only do so much.

Lastly, I don’t think basic security-camera usability and notification reliability should depend on having a subscription. A simple notification-frequency control would make the no-subscription and cam plus experiences significantly better without taking away from the value of the subscription.

Success stories?

Has anybody been able to successfully de-google? I currently have a live account, google account, and iCloud account and I was trying to figure out how to actually consolidate everything down to 1 email address, 1 drive, etc. I was looking at either moving everything to Proton or to iCloud but wasn’t sure. Proton is iffy to me because it’s so new.

Honest opinions on Eufy?

Hey guys, I am currently using Wyze and wanting to switch and I’m torn between Eufy, Tapo, and Reolink. What is the general consensus on Eufy? I’m looking for decent audio quality, local storage, and accurate ai that works independently of a subscription.

Recommended brands?

I currently use Wyze and I am over paying a subscription in order to have decent functionality. I’m looking for a brand with accurate AI that works independently of a subscription and that has decent audio quality. I’m considering Eufy, Reolink, and Tapo and honestly leaning towards Eufy with the Homebase. Anybody have recommendations or input?

Support

Would somebody from Wyze support be willing to look into why my descriptive alerts are taking so long? I submitted a log to the last mod and they never got back to me.

Security Camera issues on Founders 2 Gig plan

Ever since I upgrade our fiber plan to the 2 Gig founders plan, our camera ai notification have become significantly delayed, going from 5 seconds to sometimes up to 30 until they reach our phones. Is there anything that would have changed on our router after the upgrade that would cause this? Other users of the cameras on Reddit say that they don’t have the same problem and this started happening right after I upgraded.

Warp/Verizon issues

Has anybody else noticed Warp/Verizon service has plummeted in the past few months? I’m on Warp and my partner is on Verizon postpaid and places we used to have full signal is now only like one bar of LTE. And even with 5GUW I’ll have to downgrade to LTE because nothing will load on the 5G. I’ve read that Verizon 5GUW doesn’t really have the capacity for everybody but this is ridiculous lol.

Edit: This issue is happening almost everywhere, and previously I had no issues in the same areas.

Delayed camera notifications — anyone else?

Has anyone else been getting delayed camera notifications lately?

For the past few months, both regular AI alerts and descriptive alerts have been coming in late. For example, I can pull into my garage, go upstairs, and only then receive the vehicle notification. Descriptive alerts seem even slower.

My setup:

  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iOS 26.5.2
  • 2Gig fiber internet with T-Fiber

I already submitted logs, but I’m still trying to figure out whether this is a known issue, a settings problem, or something on my end.

Has anyone found a fix?
