This thing is so weird to look at. The WM8505 CPU and memory is on a DDR2 stick. The layout is not 1:1 to a DDR2 ram stick though. There are a set of bridged pins on the ends of both sides and a whole row isn’t used on the underside. The socket on the board also has a couple of bridged pins and is even labeled DDR2. All other WM8505 boards I’ve seen have the CPU board directly soldered onto the main board. I wonder why the engineers made this choice.

I can tell it’s not iOS 9 because the ‘a’ is still curly. I can’t determine if it’s iOS 7 or 8. These are the only two pictures of it because it’s from a listing.

Here Is more proof that iOS 26 is garbage. As we all know, pretty much all devices running iOS 26 are unable to be in low power mode and screen record without lagging and freezing like crazy.

I find it hilarious that my iPad 7 running iPadOS 18.7.9 can do this perfectly fine without much issue, while a $1000+ iPhone can’t. I even added unnecessary controls for fluff to attempt to push my iPad even more, but it still handles it just fine.

Sure, my iPad is stuttering a little bit, but it’s not even close to how bad iOS 26 is. As a matter of fact, my iPad sits at 69% batt health, which is leaving quite a bit of performance on the table with a degraded batt like that, but it can still do this without issue.

I’m tired of people defending iOS 26. If an iPad with the SOC of the iPhone 7 Plus can be in low power mode screen record just fine, there is no reason any other device shouldn’t be able to.

In the full 254 days since 26.0 officially released Apple has been incapable of fixing something as simple as the icon borders when closing an app. Really gives me hope for iOS 27.

This is my 2019 16” MPB. Specs are i9-9880H, 32GB ram, Radeon pro 5500m 8gb, 1TB, and a fresh install of MacOS Tahoe 26.5. I gave it a generous week to settle and index. Didn’t change a thing.

I‘ve since moved back to Sequoia, which runs infinitely better, but in my time running Tahoe, I consistently experienced things like this daily. I’ll list my main complaints below.

1. To start, performance Is still horrible. Whenever I right click on an app in the dock it takes 1-1.5 seconds to load the menu. When I do it for one app the rest feels snappy, but once I go interact with something else it’s back to taking 1-1.5 seconds. Sequoia doesn’t have this issue, at most I find it taking a maximum of .5 seconds and it doesn’t have to go back to taking .5 seconds nearly as often when I interact with something else.

2. There is an annoying what feels like a .1 second system wide delay whenever I start interacting with my mac after leaving it idle for a couple of seconds. For example, this happens when I start scrolling in an app, moving a window around, or switching desktops. This doesn’t happen in Sequoia. It’s hardly noticeable unless you are looking for it but it’s definitely there.

3. The lag. System-wide performance running on the integrated gpu is laughable. Whatever it be; switching desktops, switching apps in Mission Control, opening Notification Center, moving windows around, scrolling, even something as simple as a pop up window lags. At most, the pop-up windows feel like 10 fps, and sometimes, they instantly appear instead of bouncing in. The Intel HD 630 clearly cannot handle all of the Liquid Glass effects, but Apple has no option to turn them off. Don’t get me wrong, the iGPU has never been the smoothest even in prior macOS versions, but it has NEVER been as horrible as Tahoe. Even running off of the radeon pro 5500m lags sometimes, and not to mention it gets very hot with massive battery drain and, the screen still becomes washed out on the dedicated gpu even though I’ve submitted feedback before about it.

I could list WAY more than this but it’s already pretty long. All in all, this is blatant planned obsolescence. I get that Intel was on its way out, but to kill them off like this is evil. Isn’t Apple only supposed to drop devices on a decently stable and bloat free OS? Tahoe only has about 1 or two major bug fix updates left and I guarantee that almost all of the bugs and problems I’m still facing won’t be fixed by then. Heck, all of the issues I’ve listed here have been in Tahoe since release. Since macOS 27 is supposedly mainly going to fix the issues with Tahoe and not be a huge feature update why not include Intel as well? I get that dropping Intel will help with de-bloating the OS and fixing the code but with Apple being a multi-trillion dollar company there is really no excuse not to keep Intel around for another year. It‘s simply planned obsolescence. Apple should take back what they said about Tahoe being the last release and give Intel macOS 27. Tahoe is a vibe-coded disaster.

This is a disabled iPhone XS running iOS 17.5.1. Is there any way to reset it without updating, or is there no hope?

I’ve seen many people say that r/applesucks is being run by mods that are pro Apple and are taking down many posts criticizing Apple and their horrible software quality. A couple of my posts were taken down. What’s even the point of the sub if the whole point of it is compromised? Might as well rename it to r/appleisgreat

My phone was completely frozen for almost 20 seconds. Great job Apple! Cant wait for all the Apple sheep to tell me I’M the one doing something wrong!

Here is a simple performance test of changing the wallpaper and opening the control center while screen recording on my iPad 8 on iOS 26.5 and my iPad 7 on iOS 18.7.9. Both devices have been DFU restored to their latest versions and given a day to index. Both are under equal conditions with the same settings and with testing both of their default wallpapers. The only differentiating factor is that the iPad 8 has 94% battery health while the iPad 7 only has 77% battery health (checked with coconut battery). Therefore, the iPad 8 should be performing at expected peak performance while the iPad 7 might have somewhat degraded performance.

As you can obviously see, the iPad 8‘s performance is absolute garbage; taking around 10 seconds to open the control center in the wallpaper selection menu, not to mention the fact that it was VERY unresponsive and running at around single digit fps the whole time. By the end it felt like a miniature sun in my hands. This is hands down significantly worse performance than an iPhone 4s on iOS 9.

In contrast, the iPad 7 is surprisingly smooth and responsive despite its degraded battery. There were only minor stutters throughout the test along with some lag in the control center while the wallpaper was switching styles. By the end, it was only slightly warm. Other than that, it’s very acceptable for a device with the SOC of the iPhone 7 Plus running an OS from 2024.

I’m tired of people defending the poor multi-trillion dollar company. iOS 26 performance is still way worse than iOS 18, especially on hardware that obviously can’t handle it, yet I‘m not allowed to downgrade…

I’m not sure where to post this but, under software downloads there is an iPadOS 18.7.9 IPSW for the iPad 8th gen instead of the iPad 7th gen. This isn’t just a bug in the naming. Attempting to restore the IPSW to an iPad 7 says incompatible firmware. When attempting to restore to an iPad 8 it actually proceeds but then gives an error that means the software isn’t signed anymore. I’m curious if this might’ve worked if I did this before Apple unsigned the IPSW. If someone could check the IPSW and check if it’s actually meant for the iPad 8 please do. If someone managed to actually flash this to their iPad 8 it could potentially be super rare since I don’t think there was an OTA 18.7.9 for iPadOS capable devices.
