Blue Badge Parking

Hi folks, I frequently visit Harrogate with family and we've a couple blue badge holders. Does anyone know if blue badge holders are allowed to use the on street parking marked Disc Parking and Permit parking? How about where it's marked Disc parking and Pay & Display? If so is there a limit to how long we can stay?

I HATE being a beginner.

Idk if it's more Autism or ADHD but I absolutely hate being a beginner at things. When I want to start a new hobby I know full well that I need to do my time, learn the basics thoroughly, and work up to doing great things but I just hate it. I have big ideas and want to be able to make them, I get disinterested and bored having to learn the baby steps and usually just give up. Can anyone relate?

RTC with NENC/ Harrow Health and "Return to Treatment" with ADHD360

Hi guys. I'm at my wits end a little bit and stuck on what to do because there doesn't seem to be much confirmed information about either.

I was privately diagnosed through ADHD360 in 2023 and got elvanse on a shared care agreement until May 2025 when I missed the review with ADHD360 (my fault). I was discharged from ADHD360 and GP stopped prescribing. At the time ADHD360 said that they were developing a new "Return to Treatment" pathway that would be available in "1-2 months" so I decided to wait for that.

I contacted them every month or so and they always said that the Return to Treatment pathway was "still in development". In March I got sick of waiting so spoke to my GP about a right to choose referral. I chose Harrow Health as they had the lowest wait times but once my referral went through they informed me of the funding pause by the North East and North Cumbria ICB meaning they couldn't schedule an assessment for me.

Since March I've been patiently waiting for an update from either option but there's nothing concrete been posted online by the ICB and ADHD360 have just said "you remain on the waiting list". I've seen a couple of comments in this sub (thread) that NENC may have told RTC providers to do a 78 week wait time.

Does anyone have any concrete information on either the NENC RTC funding pause or ADHD360s return to treatment pathway?

Thank you

No Bluetooth Battery in status bar?

I've noticed that on Graphene the status bar symbol for connected Bluetooth device doesn't show the battery level of the connected device. Am I missing a setting to show this or is this just how Graphene behaves? I can see the battery level in the tiles so it's not the end of the world but it's nice to see it at a glance

Have you ever done anything about a house/car alarm going off?

It's just occurred to me that whenever I hear a burglar alarm or car alarm going off my first reaction is never "Someone's being burgled!" I always just assume the alarm is malfunctioning. If I saw a house or car being actively burgled with people smashing the windows etc. I'd definitely call the police but I've never known anyone act on just the alarm going off, have you?

Got off bus and walked a mile home at 1am. 10 minutes later lost wallet RETURNED to my doorstep!

So, I walked about a mile home after travelling back into London from a bus stop. I go upstairs for 10 minutes and my doorbell goes off. My initial reaction is 'Who tf is ringing my doorbell at 1am on a Wednesday morning'. I open it up and a man gives me my wallet, explaining id left it on the bus when I get off. Nothing missing.

He leaves abruptly after I thank him in suprise. Barely an interaction can happen past my flabbergasted thank you haha. I now wonder, how did he even see I dropped it? Did he get off a stop after and track me down? Did he coincidentally see it when he got on and chose to get off, seeing my address on drivers license was nearby? Fuck knows, but such an effort for a stranger.

In London, the rush, paired with the a lack of smiles across public transport often leave an impression of unfriendliness. Such a random act of kindness reminds me of the good in people's hearts in London.

Is a 1 year employment gap too much?

I'm 28M and worked as an IT consultant (Microsoft 365) from 2017 until June last year when I left my job due to MH reasons. I've been driving Taxi to pay the bills but feel like I'm in a good place to return to an IT Job. Will a 1 year gap in my (otherwise strong) employment history be a big turn off for potential employers? I can explain the time off as I genuinely did need to care for an ill family member but I worry that people might see a year out of the industry as my skills fading and not keeping up with new developments in my field.

Do I actually have a chance with a year CV gap?

Hello, I'm 28M and from 2017 until June last year I worked FTE as a M365 consultant, I consulted on just about every corner of the M365 ecosystem but specialised in SharePoint, PowerApps and Purview (And copilot towards the end) . I left my job in June last year due to MH reasons and have been driving taxi to pay the bills. I feel like I'm ready to get back into IT and think I'd prefer contracting to working for a consultancy again as I prefer focussing on 1 customer at a time rather than trying to juggle 5-10 as I had to when working for a firm. I've got a bunch of MS certs. I've done a little bit of consultancy this year for a family member's company and they're happy to provide a reference.

My question really is do I have a shot with a year long gap on my CV and only a little bit of work this year? How's best to go about looking for contracts? Is it better to work with a recruiter or trawl the job boards myself? I'm not in a massive rush as I can pay my bills with the driving job but I'm conscious that the gap after my last employment is getting bigger.

Licensing after Godaddy

Hello all, hope someone can advise here as I seem to have caused some licensing issues after defederating from GoDaddy.

We want to be in a place where we are paying monthly for however many licenses we use and are only tied to a 1 month subscription.

I defederated from GoDaddy and removed their GDAP permissions, they are still showing as our reseller in the admin portal.

I went to purchase the licenses direct from MS and in the "Purchase Services" bit of the admin center there was the option to chose between either MCA Billing account or MOSA billing account.

I chose MOSA and went through the whole process to buy the licenses but it kept failing so I went back and chose MCA instead.

I'm getting confused as under "Billing Accounts" in the admin portal I can only see the MOSA account.

Under "Your Products" I can switch between MOSA and MCA account, the MOSA account shows Business Standard licenses with an expiry of next year which would be a year term. The MCA account shows M365BS licenses with expiry of september this year.

I've not cancelled anything in GoDaddy yet and I'm just wondering if anyone can help me get the billing in order on Microsoft's end before I do.

Parking off Road in a Light Controlled Junction

https://preview.redd.it/9l1uwzqtcheh1.png?width=1345&format=png&auto=webp&s=7ae057a861fa1930845aa25b6f97bc60b73d595e

Hoping to get the opinion of you fine folk. I often park in this area on the red X which is in the middle of a light controlled junction, the orange circles are where the lights are, there are also pedestrian crossings at each set of lights. What do you think is the correct way to leave this spot? My current approach is to wait until the direction that I want to go in is green, wait until any cars going in that direction have cleared, then reverse out into the junction and go where I need, would this be correct? A friend told me that they would wait until the the pedestrians are able to cross and reverse out into the junction as there'd not be any cars there.

I hate how "formal" the modern world is

IDK it just seems like these days everything you do has so many rules and processes and procedures around it and I hate it. Older folk talk about how teenagers getting weekend work used to be a case of turning up to a shop, chatting with the boss and getting a trial shift. Nowadays it's stages upon stages of automated online assessments that people can fail without any human intervention. Our local Tip/ Landfill used to let you just show up and throw stuff on the pile, now we have to fill out an online form to get a permit and everything needs to be inspected. You used to be able to just walk into offices and meet who you were there to meet, now there's forms to fill out, photos to be taken, ID badges to be printed. Even making this I had to use a form to accept the rules.

I do understand that a lot of these new rules/ processes have valid intent behind them but it's just a bit exhausting having so much to think about whatever you do.

"We've done it the same way for [x] years" isn't the flex some businesses think it is

Loads of places (usually food) use it as a tagline that they've had the "same recipe for 50 years" or "do things the old fashioned way" or similar. I get that they're trying to demonstrate that they've not been enshittified but c'mon... There's no way with all the developments in technology/ materials that there's nothing they could have improved to make a better product.

One that springs to mind is the video that oftne does the rounds of the diner that hand pumps the coke syrup into the cup and hand mixes it when adding the soda water. I can't believe that that's going to be better than a modern bar gun.

England - Potential Civil Penalty From JSA?

I'm in England, I lost my job last year and lived on savings until 12th March this year. On 12th March I submitted claims for Universal Credit and Jobseeker's allowance. Both were being paid according to their schedules (JSA every 2 weeks, UC every month). When attending Jobcentre for my first JSA appointment they said that I would only need to meet with my UC work coach and that the UC work coach should keep JSA updated with any updates to my status. On 25th May I started a self employed job (40hrs a week). On the 28th May I sent a message in my UC journal saying:

>Hello, I have started self employed taxi driving this week (Monday 25th May). I am not sure where to update this to ensure everyone (UC/ JSA) is made aware or what the next steps are regarding UC claim etc.

They replied:

>You will need to report a change of circumstances in your UC account under work and earnings, put yourself as self employed and then we will book you a Gateway appointment to go through everything with you. This appointment is usually an hour long.

To me, the above exchange meant that I had informed both UC and JSA of my new job.

On 4th June I received a payment from JSA which I assumed was just any remaining payout I was eligible for.

On 16th June I had a phone call from JSA at my local Jobcenter checking up on my claim as they were saying it was still active. I told them about my new job and they said that I'd likely receive a civil penalty as I didn't inform them of my new circumstances soon enough and had accepted an overpayment. I told them what UC had said and they said that didn't matter and the penalty was still likely.

I've since received another payment from JSA on 18th June.

I'm not sure what to do here, I know I need to pay back the over payments but I don't think that I should be liable for the civil penalty when I was told by UC that all I needed to do was update them.

Weaponised "Worrying"

Context: I'm pretty sure my mother is a narcissist. I really value my personal space and live alone, I generally try to stay off my phone and it's common for me to take a few hours to pick up messages/ reply.

Something that's bugging me about my mother's behaviour is that if she needs something from me she will ring my phone constantly until I answer, I'm talking calling every 5 minutes until I answer. Every time I've asked her to stop her default reason is that she was "worried" about me. "Worried" because I didn't reply to a text for an hour, "Worried" that I wasn't reachable for half a day. It feels to me like she's using "worrying" not to express concern for me but as an excuse for her incessant bothering, like I've made her "worried" by not being immediately available.

I just wanted to vent and see if anyone else has had this before and been able to set proper boundaries around communcation.

Which character are YOU?

Being honest... as much as I'd like to see myself as a competent, quick-witted Malcolm who doesn't give shit or a calm/collected professional like Dan Miller, I think I'm probably closest to Ben Swain. I'm fat, awkward in front of people and easily fall for people's tricks, I even have a slight nervous blink :(... Who do you think you are?

How to manage income/expenses as a taxi driver

Hi Folks, I've recently started as a taxi (private hire) driver and wonder if anyone has any advice for keeping my money in check.

I pay the firm a set amount each week to rent the car and be "on the system". I pay this in cash once a week.

I keep 100% of my takings but they can be in a few different forms:

  • Cash
  • SumUp card machine linked to a sumup business account
  • Account jobs where my firm bills the customer directly then takes it off my weekly rent.

I often get tips from cash and card payers as well.

My main expense is diesel which I fill up a couple of times a week and keep the receipt.

In my previous job I got paid a set amount monthly and that was easy to sort out, with this I'm struggling to get a grip on how much I'm actually making etc.

Any advice would be much appreciated :)

What's something you thought was useless to learn in school but turned out very useful?

For me it's the long and boring "reading comprehension" exercises we were made to do where you read a passage of text then have to answer questions about it. Was boring AF doing them but I believe they helped massively with patience when reading things to get all the information and make sure you understand it.
