Why so complicated to see available rooms

I was going to be staying in Bangkok for over a month. I wanted to see various room types in person at the Rosewood hotel.

I explained this to the front desk clerk, who with a concerned look on her face spent 10 minutes looking deep into her computer, and eventually determined they were so booked there was only one room type they could show me. Fine.

A very nice gentleman shows me the room, it's nice, but tell him I need something bigger for a long stay.

We get back down to the front desk, he tries his luck at finding rooms to show me, and magically there are three more room types available for him to show me. THREE.

This is not the first time this has happened. One front desk clerk can find a room, another can't.

What is going on here?

Shouldn't 100% of front desk agents be easily able to view 100% of a hotel's clean rooms? With one click on their computer?

First hand accounts of long repatriation flight?

My husband (patient) and I will be on a very long repatriation flight from Bangkok to Charlotte.

We don't know the exact type of aircraft yet. They're still setting everything up and I didn't want to ask a bunch of questions while they're organizing everything.

Ai says there will likely be a stops in Japan, Alaska and Chicago.

As the spouse I'm curious about the likely seating arrangement for me. Is it going to be the equivalent of an economy seat? Premium economy? We're fortunate that we typically fly lie flat business class internationally.

Since the plane will need to fly at 10,000 feet due to his condition, Ai says it will be loud and bumpy. So I'm looking at some Bose headphones for the trip.

Having never been on a fixed wing air ambulance, much less for 24-28 hours, just looking for some insight on what to expect, and any recommendations on making things more comfortable.

Bts Oreos Brown Sugar Pancake Flavor Creme

I'm on the hunt for these after seeing an empty display in a 7-11. The 7-11s around ploenchit are out of stock.

Any leads would be appreciated.

Campbells beef consomme or chicken broth, or bone broth

I tried finding these soups in the villa market ploenchit and they didn't have any. My husband is sick, recovering in Bumrungrad hospital, on a clear liquid diet and would like a taste of home, though the pork broth from the bumrungrad food court is delicious.

Any suggestions where else to look?

Citi dispute against citi travel lol

Booked a hotel through citi travel. Immediately realized I booked the wrong date. Called citi travel, too bad for you, they say, it's not refundable, unless the hotel authorizes a refund. Then immediately call the hotel. They understand, said they will let citi/Expedia know they're OK not getting the money. Got the name of the gm at the hotel I spoke with. Called citi back, said the hotel authorized a refund. No response from citi for a few days. I call, give them the name of the gm who authorized the refund. Still no response or refund after 10 days.

So I file a dispute with citi. It's now been more than a month since I filed the dispute and just got an email update from citi saying the merchant, citi, hasn't responded to the dispute. Ironic?

Unexpected citi outcome with cycling

I have a citi strata premier card with a very low credit limit of $3500, which was raised this past January from an even lower credit limit of $2k.

I've spent an average of $9k per month on the card over the last 4-5 months, paying down the balance through the month, ~3 times per month, but leaving 50%+ balance when the statement cuts.

I then pay the card in full each month, so don't accrue any interest.

I was initially worried about cycling causing issues, since that's the conventional wisdom, but in my case nothing ever happened.

I also transferred Thank You points from the card to my Aadvantage account a couple of times over the last few months. Earning points to transfer to Aadvantage is the reason I have the card.

I was hoping that the next time I was able to request a credit line increase, in July, that my higher spending would result in a credit line increase to make the card more usable.

Instead, when I logged in this morning to pay the card down as usual, I was met with a preselected offer for a Citi aadvantage globe card and a welcome bonus of 65,000. Knowing that the public welcome bonus for the card is 90,000, I closed the app, applied via the public 90k offer, and was approved for a $26,500 credit line.

The point being that Citi's algorithm evidently saw my need for increased credit, understood that I was able to consistently pay $9k/month, saw I was using the card to transfer points to American, and gave me a low-ball offer for a globe card rather than just a credit line increase on my existing card.

Thought this data point might be useful to others.

Which airline(s) prohibit drinking alcohol in the emergency row

I was on a flight in the last few years, seated in an emergency row, ordered a beer, and was told it was the airline's policy that they don't serve alcohol to pax in the emergency row.

Seemed very logical to me, even if I was bummed I couldn't have a beer.

I just remembered that experience after being served free alcohol in the emergency row on American (MCE seat). 'Merica!

I can't for the life of me remember what airline had that policy, and thought someone here might know.

Ai couldn't help.

Mailed-in passport renewal timeline

I overnighted my second, 4-year US passport for renewal May 22, the Friday before Memorial Day.

It arrived in Philadelphia May 25, started processing in NH on the 27, and I just received it back June 3 via UPS overnight from NH. Surprised the US government uses UPS rather than USPS. The only email update I ever received was that it was in process on May 27, and it said in process every day until today, June 3, and it now says "Approved".

Pending charge is "travel", does it change

I have a large travel expense for a safari. The safari company is charging a fee to use a card, but at 3x points on my ink preferred card, it's well worth it to me.

To make sure the charge is categorized as travel, so I get 3x points, I ran a small charge through their online portal.

The charge went through as "travel" but the charge is still pending. I'd be more assured if the charge was posted as travel, but the safari company wants me to pay the rest likely before the charge posts.

Any data points to assure me whatever category the pending charge is will in fact be the same category once it posts?

How fucked am I?

Had a direct brow lift, upper and lower blepharoplasty, fat grafting and co2 face laser 6 days ago.

They sent me and my husband home with a large packet of instructions, 14 pages of single spaced type.

5 or 6 different prescriptions, creams, eye drops, etc. I tiny tube of dry eye ointment.

I'm just realizing I missed the part about keeping the incisions moist with ointment, even though I knew better.

So no ointment on any of the incisions which all have a scab on them.

How much worse is the scarring going to be without having applied ointment for 6 days? I'm getting my stitches out tomorrow, and I'm certain the surgeon will just say it'll be fine.

Can it ever be fixed? I'm a 60 year old white man with fairly normal to light skin.

I feel like a complete idiot. My husband had similar surgery and I applied ointment to his incisions multiple times a day, and I just dawned on my I wasn't doing it for myself.

Delicious food and drinks what's up with the mattress pad

Currently flying lhr to ord, in first. In pjs.

Had potato crisps and champagne, then beef Carpaccio, then Dover Sole for my main, then vanilla ice cream and Johnnie Walker Blue special summer edition for dessert.

The champagne is delicious and free flowing.

Everything is really outstanding.

I requested they make my bed, they do, complete with...... grandma's mattress pad.

I'd been on another business or first class flight recently with a thick memory foam mattress pad that was firm on one side and cushy on the other, and couldn't help but chuckle at what the offer is on ba.

Whoever manages the bedding at BA has to be over 75 years old and completely out of it.

Regardless I'm extremely grateful to be taken care of so well.

Does the front desk know the ac doesn't work in the room and just hopes the guest doesn't care or notice?

I've been shown to a room on multiple occasions, in a 4 or 5 star hotel, where, upon entering, it's pretty obvious that even though the ac is blowing, it's not cooling.

It's not a setting that's wrong, etc etc, it's just clearly not working.

I'll call the front desk, they'll say to give it an hour or two, nothing happens, call again, they said they'll send someone, and maybe 30% of the time they'll actually fix it the other times it never works, and if there's another room available they move us.

I have to believe they know pretty well the ac in room 123 is often problematic, and they just hope the guest doesn't mind and assign it anyway.

Or am I being paranoid?

Very positive car rental coverage claims

Submitted two car rental damage claims this week, one car rental from a mom and pop agency in Morocco, a $1200 claim, front right fender scraped, the other from sixt in Lisbon, left rear fender scraped, an $800 claim, . The sixt claim was submitted may 7, approved May 8, and the money is in my checking account May 11. The Morocco claim was submitted May 9, received a request for additional documents May 11, uploaded the document, and an hour later it was approved and the claim has been paid.

Could not have been easier.

They ask for four documents:

Initial car rental agreement when you check the car out

Final car rental agreement when you turn the car back in

Chase billing statement showing you paid for the rental with your card

Repair Estimate and Itemized Repair Bill

AI for the win.
