Another ‘what animal did this come from’ episode starring Max and May — with me wishing for a pause button to Google the remains… and a dollar for every chapter of this saga
The Great Escape
My son’s friend came to the door, he asked if they could play, and I said “Sure!”, then three seconds later I’m hanging out the side window yelling, “CHANGE YOUR SHOES!” because he was still wearing his brand‑new school ones.
He sprinted back, this time through the side door, swapped shoes, and headed out again.
What I didn’t realize was that on his first exit, he hadn’t latched the front storm door. The dogs didn’t notice this at first either… but the moment my son left the second time, my two hounds suddenly activated like they’d been waiting for this exact opportunity.
They spotted the unlatched door, locked onto the scent trail, and launched themselves outside like they were escaping federal custody.
I went after them- calling them as if that’ll work, they were way too busy tracking my son’s scent — I had to go back inside and to our side door where their noses told them to be and they looked kinda proud.
Note: this only works for the following words: walk, outside, beach, go - doesn’t matter where, eat, goodnight cookies (dental chews) and share (meaning human food)
