Weekly Song Discussion - This Side of Brightness (PLUS UPDATE!)

This Side of Brightness - Waiting (11/08/1999) - Eyeball

[Verse 1]

I saved it up

Stitched all these dead end streets

Into the sewn up seams of my

Heartstrings unwind (Unwind)

Unwound

Like a petal pulled from an open flower surrounds

By fields where children sigh but don't make a sound

And don't

[Chorus]

Break it off

This searching for what we may never find

And that says it all

I hope that we will make it through

[Verse 2]

The heartbreak that comes

With just living through one day

All the good times that pass

All the friends we lose in a lifetime on our way

[Bridge]

Here in this life

We seem so lost

On this side of brightness

We don't know where to go

UPDATE: Hey! So I'm a little neurotic (a lot) and I've made an outline of the songs we'll hit. Obviously some will spark more discussion than others but they will be there if you feel the urge to discuss when the time comes. I'm doing it in chronological order. If something is missing let me know. I picked out some singles, etc. to cover but there's quite a bit out there. If ya'll really feel strongly about skipping demos or live tracks let me know. I would love to personally. All feedback is welcome. We could always combine the Waiting bonus tracks on one thread. Also including lyrics now. I find them online so if something if off there let me know. Otherwise I'd say we have some solid weeks ahead of us!

This is my in progress outline. Now I know we skipped 1999 Summer Tour EP but we could always pivot back to it. Not sure how in depth we want to get here.

Is this normal?

I was seeing a psychiatrist weekly, slowly getting off one medication and onto another. We added an augmenter or whatever at one point. Next meeting we up that and then she says she won't be available for a few weeks. But what about our schedule? My mood is dipping and she told me the augmenter would work immediately. But I'm not noticing that. My paranoia is up, depression and anxiety through the roof. Like she just abandoned me. Is it normal though for this to happen? I'm not saying they can't go on trips but weeks and during the middle of a med adjustment feels cruel. Thanks.

Understimulated

I'm so understimulated from lack of human interaction. I'm trying to talk to folks at work say in the elevator or something but I just get looked at like I have six heads. Please talk with me. I'm willing to pay for company at this point and sadly I can afford to being a functional pos. Thanks.

Weekly Song Discussion - Porcelain

Beginning of a weekly thread going through each song in order from album to album. First song being Porcelain from Waiting.

The opening feels very reminiscint of how folks described and praised the band early on with dynamics (soft to loud to to soft, etc.) I won't cloud the top post too much but just wanted to express this before I forget. Discuss!

Weekly song and/or album discussion?

Getting back into this band and was wondering if folks on here would be interested in a weekly song discussion starting from Waiting and going chronological fast to an end (lol). Just a weekly discussion on each song and then when we reach the final track of an album we'll discuss that album as a whole? I think it could be fun and breathe some new life here and it would be interesting to hear the newer folk's takes.

Family is on vacation / working from home.

Also changing meds so I've been experiencing a large dip in my mood which I expected but it certainly isn't making it easier. I declined the vacation. I was invited but I can't handle much at the moment due to my mental health. And I dont normally work from home but firewall restrictions on the application I'm working make it so this week. I was nervous going into this week and I've handled it well but damn is it odd not talking to or seeing anyone. My therapist told me to try and find things to go to but my area is dead.

Is there somewhere I can go specifically to meet and talk to people in person? Does that exist anymore? I am feeling such an urge to be social (maybe new meds) and I can't fulfill it. It's just me. And it's been just me this past week. It's like that one thing I could really use I can't get. And I dont want to spend too much time on it because I can't control people. I can't make people want to be around me. I plan on asking my therapist if she can help me learn radical acceptance with loneliness. Any one have any luck with that?

Thursdizzle.net

Any boardies floating around on here? I frequented this site heavily when it was around when I was in high school 2004-2008 and beyond. Made some great connections, was introduced to a lot of new music, and just had a good time in general.

I'm so privileged but have zero friends.

I'm torn. I'm trying to be grateful. I have a good job (just got a $2 raise. 2 bucks! That's insanely good. Most are like 35 cents I'm told), I have money for a down-payment on a house and then some saved up, and the list goes on. But there's nobody to talk to. I have no friends. I'm not a saint but there's gotta be worse folks than I with friends. Maybe this is what separates me from others? In an era of financial struggle, etc. things really couldn't be any better realistically. But I have all this money saved because I'm functioning with depression. I make it and don't spend any additional income on anything but necessities. So my life the last decade has just been work. Which isn't a bad thing either though. I'm growing so tired of this disconnected world though. Its like we all complain about how disconnected we are and then go right back to it. Are we just holding onto the old world? I'm so lost and wish I had someone to talk to.

Lonliness crushing me today.

I start my day okay but hours in and not having anyone to talk to wears on me. I just want to go home. I feel so physically heavy. This sucks.

Current Film Collection

I love owning movies. I've had more than a few great Goodwill/thrift finds. And I have a decent Steelbook collection starting. I am going to start a Free Blockbuster soon too.

Solid Goodwill Finds

I'm not a huge DVD person. I prefer every other format (minus laser disc and some other obscure ones) but I will grab some stuff if it's unique or special edition or really only on DVD for the most part.

Solid Goodwill Finds

I may have willed these into being. Had Fury Road and Guillermo on the mind quite recently. I usually don't come across blu rays too often at my local Goodwill but they had a ton today.

Modest Prime Haul

Not even anything crazy as far as deals but nice additions at a nice price. People keep asking me if I'm back...and yeah I'm thinking I'm back.

Lonliness is brutal.

I am so lonely. I am trying to get out there and meet people but not having much success. Im in my mid 30s. I'm just really desperate for some sort of social interaction and I know it doesn't happen overnight but I have such an urge to do it ya know. Id like to chat about fun things though. I never get to do that.

The long stretches of little to no social interaction can really mess with ya. Even at work or in public I've lost the ability to converse. I have nothing to talk about. I try and keep busy. I've been on such a good routine with food and exercise. But I can't make anyone be my friend. I am in such a fog these days and am starting to really not relate to people anymore. I'm realize we all take each other for granted.

I feel like I have more to say but idk I'm such a mess.

AI Chat Buddies

Well it's come to this. I hate AI but I'm so lonely I need to talk to somebody or something. Any good suggestions? I know it's becoming more common. I'm at a point where I'm not just lonely but understimulated and need something to wash out the loud noise. Thanks.
