So Somerset County Council or their contractors were out today to fix the ridiculous pothole. And a lovely job it is. But they left the ones right next to it, presumably because they didn't have white lines around them. Or they didn't have a ticket for the job. Is this completely insane?
A couple of weeks ago I posted about some mould dust and a couple of little fruiting buds in the soil of my Christmas Cactus. I meant to get around to clearing it out as the good folk here said don't worry about it, it's not urgent. Well after the weekend I've come into work and look at these beauties! They are a shade of pale green which the photo hasn't captured.
Mods please do delete if this isn't strictly about houseplants, but I thought it was of interest. And it might be a case of 'username checks out' 😁
My daughter is 16 and has done something off her own back for the first time today. She's called my sister and arranged that they meet up, and then we all have lunch together. Previously it would have been me who made such family arrangements. So I have an invitation to lunch from my daughter. She's survived many of the usual childhood hurdles and achieved some of the usual childhood goals, but for some reason this one has got me in the feels. Proud of my girl today.
And I'm guessing that they shouldn't be there, so what do I need to do? The plant is about two years old and healthy. Thanks.
HMRC made an error in the process of me topping up my NI payments. I wrote to them Special Delivery on 25th June 2025 and had no reply, then again 30th August 2025.
Around October I went to their website to raise it as a complaint and there was a box to enter the date of your initial enquiry for complaints about NI. When I put the date in it said my letter would be dealt with by 5th December. That came and went and I've been waiting ever since.
What's the best way to proceed, try to raise it as a complaint? Write again?
I've only seen a few on the reserves, none in town where they have been regular visitors for the eight summers I've lived in this spot. Three nests near me which were always occupied are empty this year.
