4 months in and I'm literally exhausted

Hi all. I'm new to this group. I found it after trying to see if anybody else was experiencing the same issues after quitting. Long story short, March 31st I decided to smoke some pot that I knew made me paranoid because I was desperate for a high and ran out of my other stuff. Smoked the pot that had been sitting in a cannister outside on my porch for a month (such a stupid decision cause lord only knows if that shit had been bad after sitting out that long) and ended up so tweaked out I was in the hospital. I was so terrified after that, I quit cold turkey. I never knew how intense of an experience it would be to quit so abruptly after 4 years of near everyday use.

First two months were nothing but digestion issues. Heartburn like I've never had before, a massive decrease in appetite. Anxiety attacks pretty much every night. I was convinced my heart was giving out. Every day, I had symptoms. June comes around, and suddenly the digestion issues take a bit of a pause and are replaced by heart palpitations that were every day for weeks. Finally, around mid July, the palpitations began to calm down just a bit. Instead of several sessions a day, I maybe get one or two a day. Occasionally though, I will get a string of four or five really hard palpitations that make me dizzy and mess with my head. Hospital, cardiologist, and regular PCP all say that I am fine and don't have answers for me. My PCP pretty much chalked it up to my system being out of wack because I quit smoking so abruptly after such long time, heavy use. (Which btw, I had pretty much self-diagnosed myself at that point, so her "conclusion" was really nothing I was shocked about)

After a good two weeks, the first week of August comes around and I am thrown all the way back to where I started. My digestion is shit, I have heartburn nearly every day, my palpitations are not completely as bad as they were, but are still harsh and present, and the anxiety attacks have returned. My chest pain is rough, it feels like my lungs ache. Like you know the pain you get when you have a cough? Its that, except I'm not coughing. (This could be attributed to the horrible wildfire smoke in the area I live in right now).

I'm downright miserable. I'm tired. I want to smoke again so bad because I feel like if I pick it back up, I'll be able to make these symptoms go away. Except I know that in the end, it will inevitably make it worse.

Has anyone else gone through such symptoms? I feel like I'm going crazy here.

Ways to push past the "ADHD Freeze"/executive dysfunction?

I've struggled with ADHD my entire life, and was only diagnosed about 5 years ago, which is great. Since being on medication, I've had an exponential increase in my quality of life. However, as I've been on the same medication for almost the entire time I've been diagnosed (with varying amounts. Started off on 5mg Adderall twice a day, now on 20mg Adderall XR once a day), I've began to notice a bigger struggle to push through the executive dysfunction. My house has been a mess for over a month now. Due to some other health stuff going on, it makes it even harder to stay focused, even with my meds.

My reason for seeking advice is that I know my other health problems (not related to ADHD) would most likely see a drastic improvement if I was able to actually carry out the necessary tasks to do so. Such as exercise, cooking food at home rather than going out, saving money (which would be a load off of my stress), actually going to bed at a reasonable hour, etc... But my issue is, I just can't break the habits and push past the issues to actually do these things, even when I am on my medication. I am constantly going back into my old habits.

All the advice about settling alarms works for maybe two days and then I forget or ignore them completely. Carrying a planner is great, when I can actually remember to use it. Having people remind me just makes me unreasonably angry when they actually remind me to do the things I need to do.

I just want to know, do any of you have any like... nonconventional tips that help you perform what you need to do? What has helped you?

Thanks for any help.

Is there any hope of saving a friendship where we both want different things out of one another?

Hi there all. I am 26F and my friend is 24F. We met online over a year and a half ago and have been pretty inseparable ever since. For the sake of this situation, let's call this friend Molly. Molly and I are apart of a mutual friend group that has me, my wife, Molly and our other friend, Penny, and occasionally Penny's boyfriend and other friends will hang out with us as well. Generally, when other friends are involved, Molly will avoid them. Keep in mind, this is all online interactions, all playing the same games as groups. While my wife and I have visited Penny and her boyfriend once in person and a second time coming up in a few weeks. (this will be relevant later), we've also visited Molly and her husband, Stan, twice as well in person.

This is a stupid situation, and I will try to sum it up as best I can. (all names are fake)

Stan, Molly's husband, was originally apart of the friend group, and we originally had no issues with him. He was decent enough at first, even when he tended to act "boyish" with our group of girls -- The problems first showed up when Stan began to butt heads with Penny over opinions about video games, and it resulted in him insulting her. This happened multiple times, and gradually, he began to show his superiority complex over all of us. Not to mention his horrible habit of interrupting conversations with out of pocket, borderline gross memes that we'd essentially ignore to keep the conversation going. It got to a point Stan stopped talking because whenever he did talk, he was either rude, or interrupting us, and none of us were having it. Except, of course, for Molly, who felt the need to always support her husband. (LET ME BE CLEAR: Supporting your spouse is NOT the issue here.)

After our second time hanging out with Molly and Stan in person, Stan virtually disappeared. And this was after me and my wife had spent a stupid amount of our time and money to see them and have a good time. Stan was, as expected, rude, and gross, and even when he had good moments where we all laughed, it would be ruined by something like a shitty comment. He loves insulting his wife, and neither me or my wife or Penny find that really funny. We've called him out on it before.

Long story short: After six months of Stan being non-existent, leaving the group chat we were all in-- and me asking Molly when the next time we were going to hang out again was, Molly finally admitted why she'd been avoiding hanging out entirely - she essentially "figured out" that Me, my wife, and Penny do not like Stan. Penny thinks that we should be straight up honest with Molly and tell her exactly why we don't like Stan. Molly has pretty much told me that if Stan can't be involved with the group, she isn't going to be involved either. I may have accidentally slipped and said that I guess I couldn't blame her for feeling that way, because I wouldn't want to hang out with people who didn't like my wife. (my wife says that this wasn't a slip and wasn't something abnormal to say in the type of conversation, but I sort of feel like it was me just straight up admitting it on accident)

This resulted in a week's long fall out between me and Molly, where I was pretty sure we weren't going to make up. But to my surprise, Molly apologized to me and had said she didn't want to lose our friendship and that while things were rocky now, she wants them to get better.

And for about two months now, they have been better. I even went as far as to send Stan and Molly each a gift through the mail, and Stan recieved an expensive collectable of mine that I was getting rid of because I knew he was a fan of the band in question.

Stan never thanked me. I guess I should have expected that. All I got was a message from Molly saying "he likes the gift!"

Anyway, flash forward to today, and Molly mentions her birthday coming up, and I asked if there was anything she wanted to do as a group to celebrate.

Her response? "You can just send me something."

So why am I on reddit? 1) to vent. But 2) to ask a question.

Is the friendship that Molly and I have worth trying so hard to maintain. It seems very obvious to me that I have tried and tried to make things right after our fall out, to be her friend, to show her how much I love her, and I get absolutely no effort in return besides her pretty much texting me every day. Which I guess one could argue is effort, but it isn't what I want.

While we live long distance, she's well within meeting up range. She lives not even an hour away from some of my family. So meeting isn't an issue.

Stan is the issue. and I realize that I'm never going to be able to be friends with Molly without Stan being in the way. Even with how much I adore Molly and with how close we've gotten, my wife and Penny both agree Stan is the reason Molly does nothing with us anymore like she used to. Stan is the reason Molly doesn't play games with us anymore. Or maybe Molly just doesn't care anymore like she used to?

Anyway -- Does this even seem like a friendship worth maintaining at this point? I want a best friend who wants to see me and wants to spend time with me. And Molly just isn't that friend. Which sort of breaks my heart, because I felt like we were really meant to be close friends.

3 months sober: Still reaping what I sewed lol

Been sober since April 1st since I had a massive green-out that sent me to the ER. Since then, I have been having massive anxiety attacks and GERD symptoms and have dropped 15lbs. I've been told I'm experiencing what is called PAWS, or Post-Acute Withdrawal Symptoms, where my body is essentially recouping after 4 years of continuous use. But the anxiety and heart palpitations are awful, and the last five days I've been sleep deprived with anxiety related issues, and sometimes I find myself wishing I'd never quit because these symptoms are horrible.

Wife wants rid of cat, desperate for any other solution

Hi all. For context, I have two cats, one 6 year old male and one 5 year old male. This concerns the 5 year old male.

We’re at a point that we’ve tried several solutions to get our 5 year old male cat to stop peeing on the carpets. Despite the litter boxes being cleaned every day, despite using the cat attract litter, despite changing the litter boxes from plastic to stainless steel, all solutions we’ve done seem to temporarily work for a week or two before he goes right back to peeing in corners, always on the carpet. It’s at this point, the cat is making my wife cry with how he’s made our house smell, even with enzyme cleaners and wet vaccuming spots the second we see the cat has gone, nothing works.

She’s at a point she wants him gone, and I’m mortified of rehoming our cat, despite becoming equally as stressed about the situation.

I’m looking for anybody has solutions to remedy this before we have to take drastic measures and rehome, which is the last thing I want to do, because other than this pissing on the carpet problem, he’s a good cat. Please help.

ONE SYMPTOM AFTER ANOTHER

At first its dizziness — then the dizziness gets in control and then it becomes gas and burping — and now for the last week I’ve been noticing I’ve been having heart palpitations much more frequent to the point I’m getting nervous.

They last few a few seconds and then go away, but it happens at least five times a day. Anyone else experience this? I’m trying not to panic and convince myself it’s my heart giving out somehow

Feral Mama is becoming a danger to employees?

Hi all. I work in a shop, and right now, we have a feral mama cat with three kittens living in the space between the breakroom and the stairwell. I've been feeding her for a week now, and while mama seems to be learning that the sound of the bag shaking means food, she's still a hissy kitty. When she was staying in her corner, it was one thing. However, her and her kittens have started to venture into the breakroom. I went upstairs to feed her, thinking she was in her corner, and to my surprise, she bolted out of the kitchen and got in a protective stance. I could tell that if I approached any closer, she'd attack me. (She's a protective mama, which is why I always go up the stairs very slowly, for this exact reason.)

However, not everybody in this shop is as careful as I am. They will charge up the stairs with no problems, or are totally unaware, and I know that it is just a matter of time before someone is going to be attacked. Honestly, even with as cautious as I am, it might be me who gets attacked. She has started to approach me when I have the food bag but still swats at it and hisses at me. I want to help this mama, but I also don't want to get scratched to shit, lol.

How does one deal with this situation? Do I keep feeding her in the hopes to desensitize her and try not to get attacked? Should we live trap her and the kittens? My worry is that again, someone is going to get hurt because this mama is protecting her babies.

Advice Needed: Mama cat and kittens need to be moved to safer location

Hi there all!

Advice needed!

I work at a shop that deals with heavy machinery, forklifts and trucks etc... Recently, its come to our attention we have a feral mama cat and 3 (possibly 4) kittens living upstairs outside of our breakroom, between the walls. Mama isn't terrified of people, she seems to tolerate humans being near her, but the moment she senses you being too close, she hisses. I guess one of my co-workers got too close to one of her kittens earlier this week and she understandably swatted at him. Both mama and the babies allow you to come within about two feet of them before they get kinda nervous. The babies are about 4 weeks old from what I can tell. Clearly still drinking milk, eyes are open but still blue so they haven't developed their eyes completely yet. From what I can tell, all the kittens seem healthy! No eye issues or signs of upper resperatory infections from what I can see, which is a good sign. Even mama herself seems relatively healthy.

So, my job designated me as the one in charge of getting mama and the babies to a safer location. (as I am the cat lover here, haha) But I am unsure how to do so.

One suggestion was to continue feeding and desensitizing the kittens and mama until the babies are old enough to give away and mama can be handled and brought for spaying. Another suggestion was live trapping. But I'm not exactly sure how to go about live trapping a nursing mama and kittens that clearly rely on her for food. Any advice is much appreciated!

I finally found out why my friend doesn't want to hang out anymore

This is actually a follow up to a post I'd originally written, which I will post at the bottom of this -- but long story short, every time I suggested me and my long-distance friend meet up, she'd either make up an excuse or outright deny me.

Well, I finally found out why - she's caught wind that the friend group doesn't like her husband and is offended by this.

I can't blame her for not wanting to hang out with us if she thinks we don't like her husband. I wouldn't want to hang out with somebody who didn't like my wife.

But on the other hand, her husband has done absolutely nothing to try and make a solid friendship with us. When he was in the group chat we all had together, he would insult us, argue with us, belittle us, send gross memes or interrupt conversations with memes that had nothing to do with the actual subject, and it finally got to a point where none of us wanted to deal with it, so we stopped engaging. Apparently, my friend and her husband were offended, and he left the group chat entirely, while she stayed back. Long story short, is he's incredibly rude and downright gross sometimes, and we are tired of it. One of our friends in the chat argues that friendship is a two-way street, and if he is going to constantly be disrespectful towards us, we do not owe him any friendship. I agree.

Let me be very clear: We have all tried numerous times to befriend her husband, and it has never worked.

Well, me and her had a phone call, and the conversation boiled down to essentially that we can be friends with both of them, or neither of them. That he is her ride-or-die. Which, great, that's awesome you love somebody that much. I'm happy that they have one another. But apparently, we are not allowed to be friends if we cannot be friends with him. I asked her if we'd ever get to hang out in person again, and I was met with "Maybe, but not for a long time."

My heart is broken -- this gal was someone I considered my best friend. Someone I shared everything with.

I talked to my therapist about this, and I talked to my wife and our other friends about this, but I genuinely don't know if I should stay friends strictly online with her, knowing it will never advance further, or if I should distance myself knowing that we'll never be as close as I'd like us to be, and I don't want to keep being attached to someone who can't separate her relationship from her friendships. Last I checked, Spouses didn't have to share friends. Yes, it's convenient, but it isn't always the case. We can't even have a girl's day together because he has to be involved with everything. (Yes, we've suggested this. yes, it's been denied.)

I also want to say that our friend group has never treated her husband poorly. Ever. The only case in which we were accused in treating him poorly was when we stopped talking to him because he was rude, which is apparently "his humor".

What do I even do? I want to be her friend. I care deeply for her.

But my heart hurts knowing she doesn't want to see me and doesn't even want our group to try and give her husband a second chance.

ORIGINAL POST HERE:

Hi all. For context, I am 26F and my friend in this case is 24F. I'm just gonna refer to her as Molly for the sake of writing. Molly and I met online over a year ago, and have since met up twice in person, and talk pretty much every day. We hit it off right away, and in my opinion, are very close. She's only 6 hours away, and conveniently lives near some family of mine, so visiting more often isn't out of the question.

Ever since we met up last year in October for the second time, she's been dodging getting together. I think it may have something to do with her husband, who I think decided he didn't like me and my wife much after we chewed him out for being disrespectful towards his wife by making a really demeaning joke about her in front of us, which none of us appreciated. Since then, he has avoided speaking to us (its May now, this was back in October) and since then has left the group chat we're in entirely. Keep in mind, this trip we all met up, my wife and I did all of the driving, paid for all our drinks multiple times, etc... While I get that my friend is sort of socially awkward, she did make a good attempt at showing her appreciation. Long story short, while we love our friend, her husband is less than ideal. Whatever, I guess we can work around that.

A few months ago, we offered to meet her half way and drive her to our town for a weekend and have a girls day, to hang out, which was denied. At first, she made up an excuse about being "busy the rest of the year" -- eventually she admitted it was financial constraints, which is fine, of course I can understand that.

So, my wife and I decided to fly across the country to visit our other friend in this same friend group. Molly was in literal hysterics. She cried every night for three days because she wasn't there, and when we came back from the trip, Molly had sent me and my wife gifts and a card expressing her appreciation for our friendship. I can completely understand feeling left out, and the entire trip, I made sure to keep talking to Molly so that things didn't feel out of the norm for her.

Since then, our friend from across the country is planning on coming over to our state, and I offered to again, bring Molly over. This was once again denied, despite us offering her and her husband a free place to stay and offering to drive. Last I spoke with Molly about this, she just said "We'll see each other again some day."

I told her that a 6 hour drive is nothing for me and my wife and that we'd love to see her again soon, and she just avoids the topic entirely.

Our other friend in the group says that I shouldn't take it personally. She says she has a feeling it has to do with Molly's husband... However, I sort of feel like its hard not to take it personally. Molly and I are so close, we talk every day, share things, cry together... She tells me often how happy she is to have me as a friend, but then seems to avoid wanting to see me again. I guess I'm just starting to think maybe this friendship is a little one sided? Or maybe I am taking it personally?

Asides from this visitation thing, the one thing we do to keep our friendship alive because of the long distance is play games. Not only did she uninstall the game we used to play every weekend together, but now, getting her to play any game at all is like pulling teeth. I've tried to ask her to install the game again so we could play, and she tells me she has no room on her device and too many games she wants to play that take up too much room... But this is a game she could play on both her consols if she really wanted to... Do you think she's trying to end the friendship subtly?

I'm not so sure. Because again, we still continue to talk every day... ?

So I guess I'm asking these questions because I'd like to know if maybe I'm just taking this too personally?

Anxiety and GERD - I'm so confused

So for a bit of context, I quit pot after smoking for four years over a month ago with varying symptoms. After a long three weeks of convincing myself I was having a heart attacks/heart issues, my doctor did an EKG, found no issues, and diagnosed me with extreme anxiety, and gave me two forms of medication to help me out. But since quitting pot, the issues I've had, which all point to GERD, have been extremely rough, especially within the last three weeks since I had my initial appointment. Bloating, constant burping, pain in shoulders, heartburn so bad it left me with chest pains and back pains so bad that they go into the next day. I went back to the doctor, who told me to keep up with the anxiety medication, and to start Omeprazole twice a day, one in the morning and one at night. While I've been terrible at remembering to take it in the morning, I have remembered to take it every night consistently since my appointment, and since Saturday, I actually felt normal. Three days without taking any antiacids when I'd been taking them damn near every day for weeks. Flash forward to last night, and the symptoms are back in full swing. Dizziness, chest pain, and trouble breathing. I felt better when I woke up this morning, and now that I've ate, the symptoms are back AGAIN.

Another thing that makes me think of that might connect my GERD to being anxiety induced is that since Friday, I've been extremely distracted with Mortal Kombat, because it is my favorite franchise, and it just had a movie drop, and I've been obsessed with it since the day it came out. So for the last few days since that movie dropped and I've been on the omeprazole, I've hardly had any symptoms. Yesterday, when the symptoms started, I was in court for jury duty, and I'd been reading the news and getting less distracted with the Mortal Kombat stuff, so suddenly its all back. Especially today, reading a bunch of stuff on the news, now the symptoms are just flaring up horribly. (Well, tonight I'm seeing the movie again for the third time, so maybe this will help test my theory? LOL)

Can GERD be triggered by anxiety? Is that possibly why it got so bad after quitting pot is because quitting pot can make your anxiety worse? I've always had mild issues with heartburn, but never something so bad and so consistent. Any advice is appreciated.

One thing to note: Bloating definitely got better when I was drinking Kombucha every day, so do probiotics help anyone else out?
