The humble 7th console experience.

Yes, there are jaggies. Yes, the textures look less detailed than what we get now. Yes, the texture filtering is low (bilinear filtering vs 16x AF of today). Yes, it's only 30 fps. However, I have a soft spot for these graphics more so than the ones they do now through unreal engine 5. There is a cozy charm to them. Sometimes less is more.

edit: Forgot to write 7th *gen, sorry.

Thief remastered looks promising, but ...

... Night dive really needs to start using normal maps in their remasters. The surfaces in the trailer look a bit flat. Normal maps would add a lot of depth to them especially the stone surfaces.

Looks like it's a wrap. Now even notable indie games are few and far between on the PS4.

PS4 had a great run. Of course, I have a backlog of games on my PS4 pro but I thought I bring this to everyone's attention. First it were AAA games, now indie devs are steadily pulling their support for the PS4. Last notable indie title was bubsy 4d from mid May. Of course you still have a steady stream of slop indie games.

Anyone find social stealth underwhelming?

It just doesn't have the same level of excitement as traditional stealth for me. Trying to play hitman and it's not doing much for me. feels like I just wonder around until I takeout a person with the right access to get past a checkpoint. The constant thrill of traditional stealth is just not there lol

Morrowind goty looks great on a CRT

It's a vibe. Takes me back to my younger days. The DLC was also very epic.

Avoided this for the longest time due to the mixed opinions online.

Shouldn't have because this game is still a great splinter cell game. I played through it 4 times now. It's what I call a "stealth puzzle" game. The game puts you in many tricky situations. At first, It may seem like you can't get out of these situations without breaking your stealth, but there is a method to this madness. It's rewarding when you finally find a way to get past these part stealthily. It has great level design and well thought-out stealth action gameplay.

Now I bought the rainbow six 3 demo disc to play the Splinter Cell DLC missions on my Xbox.

So what went wrong with the then next gen version of double agent ?

Xbox 360 was the best of the bunch but even that had frame drops and screen tearing. What happened? Any meaningful info out there regarding it's development?

One of the worst stealth games I've ever played lol

It's nice to add it to my collection for $20 but I'm not sure if it was worth it. The gameplay is very janky and the AI is very unpredictable. The story is also hugly disappointing with a very anticlimactic ending. The performance is quite uneven with some noticable frame drops sprinkled throughout the game. A few good things that I can say about this game are that the gunplay feels decent and the setting is interesting. Feel free to share your thoughts on this game.

I'm a fan stealth games and have played many series such as splinter cell, thief, Dishonored, Deus ex, Styx, Tenchu and more. I want to get into metal gear by playing through metal gear solid 1-4. I'm not really a big fan of forced action sequences and boss fights in my stealth games. How much of this is in these games ? Hoping for a mostly stealth experience.

I love Tenchu Wrath of heaven and Fatal Shadows on the PS2 but Tenchu Z is my favorite because it has the most fleshed out stealth systems in the series. For example, like SC, It has a noise meter, visibility meter, and a meter that tells you how far an enemy is from you and their alert level. It also has a light gem that lights up when you are close enough to kill or grab an enemy. Once you grab an enemy, you can drag him away and stab him with your sword or throw him to the ground and snap his neck (silent). The feedback is very satisfying for both kills. Moreover, there are tons of fun stealth and assault tools at your disposal. The ancient Japanese setting is very immersive and the locations are a giant seamless sandbox. If there is one flaw, it's that the A.I. is a bit brain dead even though it's noticeably improved over the last games. I hope this game gets remastered one day.

... the PS2 (1st pic) and Xbox version of chaos theory (2nd pic) on a CRT through Component video on real hardware. It was a great experience.
