This moment is never not gonna be funny to me

While this would mean the separation of more unique skins for certain character that rely on them (like Inkling, Bowser Jr. and Hero) and Echo Fighters would basically become obsolete, a more flexible costume system could open up the opportunity for both in-series costumes (like Metal Sonic over Sonic or Scream Tail over Jigglypuff) and crossover reskins (like Minecraft Wolf & Chicken over Duck Hunt or Ender Dragon over Ridley [yes those are the only two I can think of atm lol]). I would imagine the animations would remain the same, just with different models. If this system was implemented, what costumes would you want to see added?
I also think this could be complimented by giving Miis a Tomodachi Life level style of customization, implementing more traditional clothing alongside the crossover pieces. The fact that there isn’t a single “regular” outfit in Smash that I like is a crime >:(
These are just random images I pulled from online, but my top choices would be either Rivals (in the case of a reboot of sorts) or Overdrive (if they try Ultimate but more). Any ideas?
You might remember me from the 180 character roster post; I’m back :)
My whole idea for this menu is that it takes you all around the bedroom of the kid who’s playing with all these toys to make all the characters fight each other (main menu on the window, creation on the desk, shop in the closet, etc)
This is a very early idea I made; feel free to ask any questions or provide any criticisms you want, because honestly this looks a little ugly to me and I can’t exactly pinpoint how to fix it
I don’t think the devs expected anybody to take this seriously as a sport. It’s a joke pick, which is a first for the series, but it is admittedly a really good joke pick to start with. I think the people complaining that “you can just do it with the person next to you” are missing the point. Looking at someone playing it at the Japan expo, it looks so fucking stupid and I love it, I genuinely don’t get why people see Thumb Wrestling’s inclusion as a bad thing
Feel free to ask anything about the roster or question all of my decisions :D
Edit: I’m surprised nobody’s mentioned Tiny Kong, to be honest I completely forgot why I put her in to begin with
Edit edit: I THOUGHT FERALIGATR WAS SECOND STAGE I AM SO SORRY 😭 he has since been swapped for croconaw
Edit edit edit: I’m gonna make the roster 200 characters, because I keep adding people so I just thought “fuck it” and decided to do a full 200 character roster. I also plan on making a visual for it, which may or may not include stock icons. Fuck my free time I guess 🫠
I was just listening to a yt video and got fucking jump scared by Steven’s voice out of nowhere doing a fucking OLD SPICE AD LIKE WHAT 😭
Edit: btw the Faliure Management text on his dad’s sweater is blurred out which is really funny to me
I’m binging all the MCU movies thanks to a suggestion from my best friend (my only previous marvel exposure was the Spider Verse movies), and I loved the Tom Holland Spider Man movies. I also really like the Iron Spider suit; the colors are distinct from your usual Spider-Man suit and the extra legs are sick as hell. But looking online, most people seem to be going nuts over the brand new day suit when, to me, it just looks like a regular ass spider man suit instead of a more unique one with cooler colors like Iron Spider’s. I could do without the tech, just the unique colors would be cool enough for me. So why do people like the Brand New Day suit so much?
I’m super proud of how they all came out, but god these take so long to make
Gonna start work on stock icons tomorrow; should prolly get some sleep for now
Any questions, feel free to ask :)
I picked Smash Ultimate from the library again to play some Mii Brawler because I’ve been watching way too much FireThePyro recently. I mostly have experience with the original Rivals of Aether, which has no shields, grabs, ledges; a lot of things. I was getting very frustrated as my tilts turned into smashes for seemingly no reason, plus the input delay made everything feel super sluggish at first. I’m starting to get a bit of a grip on the game, though, and I’m able to beat level 9 CPUs semi-consistently with 1-2 stocks, although I do sometimes get quite frustrated whenever I get locked in a combo that takes me from 0 to 100 while I can barely chain a couple hits together or get hit by one move that does fucking 30% for seemingly no reason. If any of you are familiar with Rivals of Aether or just are experienced in helping newcomers in general, I’d greatly appreciate it. For context, I primarily play Olympia in Rivals and am running Shot Put, Suplex, Thrust Uppercut, and Feint Jump on Brawler, though I sometimes swap Suplex for Burning Drop Kick.
These two screenshots come from a random Nintendo JP article that I only found courtesy of the guy from earlier that already posted 100 Pin Bowling (https://www.nintendo.com/jp/topics/article/8aba5849-9c2a-44ee-863e-8abf5147e380 is the link). Seeing this gives me a LOT more hope regarding the content of this game.
The implementation of things like this implies the existence of extra modes for a ton of sports, which would add a ton to both the on and offline experiences. Personally, I’d wanna see some kind of Boxing Beatdown (a boxing version of Swordplay Showdown), or a Dream Shooting type variant for Archery where you run around an arena shooting targets. I really hope the devs use these alternate modes in a ton of different sports, as it opens the door for so much content to be added
Personally I’d opt for Mii Magician but I’m curious as to y’all’s thoughts
Badhud was one of my favorite V-Slice mods, mostly with its insane customizability that let me do pretty much anything with it. However, 0.8.0 broke the mod, and the author has marked the original mod as obsolete instead of updating it to work with the new version.
Does anyone have a link to a version of Badhud that works with the new engine or some equally customizable substitute?
I hate the discussion of Miis vs Sportsmates, mostly because it’s less like a discussion and more like a war. I want to go online and see other people excited for the game like I am, but all I see everywhere are people complaining endlessly because the Miis didn’t come back. On the other end of the spectrum, we have people glazing the Sportsmates to excessive ends just to appear contrarian. I personally enjoy both the Sportsmates and Miis, and I wouldn’t really have a preference for whether one comes back over the other.
Whenever someone brings up the Miis not returning, they often point to the new Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. I absolutely love that game; I already have 100 hours despite getting the game just a few weeks ago. But I find the argument that “they worked in Tomodachi Life, why not Switch Sports?” is flimsy for one specific reason; art direction.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream’s art direction is focused on stylization, making the game feel more like a cartoon than anything. Switch Sports chose the opposite direction, opting for more realism instead. As the developers created the world and the areas surrounding the sports, they realized that Miis didn’t really fit in, so they switched to the Sportsmates. Admittedly, their first attempt at these avatars wasn’t great, as they did appear pretty soulless. The new Sportsmates actually have expressions now, though, and I think fit the original vision of what they were supposed to be; new avatars, realistic and stylish, created to give the Sportsmates (and by extension the NSS series) its own identity.
Will they go back to Miis if they continue this series past the Switch 2? I wouldn’t be surprised. Maybe they’ll go back to one, or maybe even have both coexist in one game (no the Mii head masks don’t count). But for now, maybe we should open our eyes a little to the now and stop looking through rose tinted glasses.
can’t wait for my karma to plummet but that’s what I get for not conforming to the hivemind 🫠
I was actually working on some ideas for a Switch Sports sequel, but this coming up and shooting me down has me a bit annoyed but excited
I for one think the game looks PHENOMENAL. They didn’t include Chambara, my favorite sport, but whatever I can survive without it. And that means you guys can survive without baseball too
I personally think they shouldn’t have used Wuhu Island again, a new island locale with multiple distinct biomes would have been cool, but Wuhu island still definitely works. Plus, the areas you play the sports in look super modern, melding my favorite element from Spocco Square (the aesthetic) with the overall feel of Wuhu Island.
The Sportsmates here look so much more expressive, and the inclusion of nail polish in thumb wars tells me that there’ll be a lot more customization this time around.
My only real concern is the singleplayer, which we know nothing about. Hopefully they don’t pull a switch sports and make everything relevant online. I wouldn’t say no to champions, challenges, hell even a story mode I’d enjoy. But I guess we’ll have to wait and see on that front
All in all, I am super excited but I’m being careful not to set my expectations too high. What about you guys? I think this is a good first post for this newly made sub so I hope I help y’all get it off the runway :)

Knowing this sub you’ll probably complain about the Miis not being prevalent again but I seriously think this is a good step forwards for the series (assuming they don’t fuck up singleplayer again)
