Choice Burgers in Brea CA

Paid a visit to choice burgers in Brea yesterday. This store had a dining room added just like Gogoma in Fullerton. The inside of this store holds so much character, the tiles on the counter and menu signs were both exciting, plus we’ve got another fire pit! Included are photos of the store from the 80s sent to me by drinksophiecola.

Corrales Mexican to go in Ventura CA

Absolutely loved this place so I took plenty of photos. The building had preserved much of what was originally built for Taco Bell. In particular the fire pit and seating area are both still intact, and the front three arches were never closed in.

Thousand Oaks CA original Taco Bell looks to be on the chopping block

Construction plans have been approved for a large downtown project which will add luxury apartments, a hotel, and retail spaces on Thousand Oaks boulevard. The site of the plans includes this corner where thousands oaks had its original Taco Bell, walls have already gone up so I snuck in to take some final pictures.

Some notes I wanna mention:

1.) from the side you can see where an addition was added, the original front half of the store was demolished and rebuilt to add indoor seating

2.) looking underneath the back awning you can see the original wooden poles

3.) they added a shed to the back but looking inside the original bathroom doors are still there

Halloween decor once purchased at Kmart

Bought these from a goodwill for $2 because of my Halloween nostalgia for these and was surprised to find it was from Kmart!

Fotomat Locksmith part 2, Northridge CA

I told you so. For those who liked the last one, here’s another Fotomat kiosk turned locksmith.

Locksmith in an old Fotomat, Granada Hills CA

Probably the sentence most commonly uttered when someone mentions Fotomat

Original Odin tips in 2026?

Does anyone still use their original Odin pro in 2026?

I’ve had the Odin pro since right after launch, it was my first android device and I’ve gotten a good amount of use out of it back then. I recently picked it up again and I’m trying to get myself excited about using it so I’m looking for recommendations.

1.) I’m not super into the standard android look and I’m wondering how I can give the Home Screen a little more flare. I want it to look a little more cohesive if possible like a real console would be.

I’ve heard about front loaders but I have no idea where to begin or if that’s possible on this console.

2.) Does anyone have any app or software recommendations to jump into. I want to make this a good daily console since I’m getting tired of being on my phone. Maybe some game recommendations to run on retroarch?

Let me know, I’m just bored and don’t know if anyone is still using the Odin pro. Thanks :D

75th anniversary Coke from 1980

Found in my moms garage, I guess she didn’t want to open it since it’s commemorative

Does anyone else hate the new Western BBQ sauce?

Not sure if they changed it everywhere or just near me, but the new bbq sauce tastes so terrible to me. A worker told me it’s the same as the sauce used on the western bacon cheeseburger, but to me it just tastes like vinegar. All tangy with no smoky. Disappointing, because Carl’s used to have one of my favorite bbq sauces of any fast food place. Am I the only one who’s upset?

Former Carl’s Jr in Northridge California?

I can't say conclusively, but I'm almost certain Kings Burger in Northridge may have been an early Carl's Jr location. The photos with the blue roof are from me, but included are photos I used for comparison.

Anyone from Northridge visit here in the 70s and know?

Thai BBQ spotted in Hollywood

Pulled over to take some pictures while out in Hollywood. The grocery store across the street looks magical too btw if anyone looks on street view.

Ketchup packet from jack in the box

Found wedged in my center console while cleaning out my car a few years ago. What’s shocking to me, is that it still smelled just like regular Heinz ketchup

Mexican seafood in Valencia

They lobotomized its roof when renovating but they uncovered the original Pizza Hut windows 😎

Winnetka California

Passed this place a few months back. Apparently it’s owned by the lounge next door, and used as storage. I love the old lamppost which has managed to survive all these years, as well as the logs which are still on the building.
