I wanted to find out if the Extar mags, which are a polymer 18rd mag, would fit and function in the DY9...If you are not familiar with Extar they manufacture the EP9 and EP45. The packaging indicates it is compatible with all full size 9mm DS G handguns. Well since the DY9 is a in this class I decided to give this a try. Well, I'm here to tell you they work just fine. NO issues with feeding, the lock back, they load and drop out with easy. They do work on both the non magwell Dy9 as well as the DY9 with a Magwell. They do protrude but considering 3 more rds it maybe an option. I''m posting pictures of the DY9's with the Extar 9mm mag. Wow!!!
I know the color is not exactly perfect, but the purple maglula I just got will be part of the Black Cherry color theme. All that is left is the factory exclusive BC DY9 Frame. I may look for the TM22 in BC but that would be pushing it.
I'm curious if anyone uses these regularly? At first I was not really for these because I felt why would I want to use them. My reasoning was, they are heavy, it takes long to load them, I will fast fire and ammo is expensive, the mag stick is expensive, and the target will be blasted to pieces in a short period. Then a good friend of mine says hey I got something for ya....and gives me 4 glock mag sticks. Ok, I have changed my mind, why? I've been to the range and now I love them....no i'm not mag dumping, but after using them, I found that the extra weight is really helping me with hand strength which helped with gun control when using the standard 15 rd mags. Now I have 5. I hope everyone has a good Friend, that sees, what you think you did not need.
I have a couple of rds and It is everything I expected and more....next will be to add the Apex Trigger and the DPM Guiderod.
Derya is releasing a Green Dot for application on the DY9z. I said DY9 in title, correction it is for the DY9z. It will be out sometime in October. This is what it will look like....may have some modifications to verbiage. I think this will also work on the 43x....
For 8/1 - 9/30, we will be doing buy a factory exclusive, get a free Green Dot RMSc D TAKTICAL optic. How it works, buy a factory exclusive completed firearm (excludes frames), whatever your bill to is, we will ship you a RMSc optic in October (retail value of $179.99). Only for purchases 8/1-9/30 that is from order.derya.us and yes you can use GIJIM10....Wow, new DY9 colors, frames, and now Green dot Optics...Derya is respectfully living up to ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER.
Let me start with this...it's a .22LR and it is a blast...I'm adding a HF light at the end. It was broke in with about 100rds of CCI....it did have a couple of failures in the beginning but now it seems to run without issues. That is if there are no ammo issues. Yes it is fun, and considering the price of ammo on the way up .22LR is looking better.
I was wanting to see what the new JTT barrel would look like in the Derya Slide, what do you think? The gold barrel looks nice as well.
Update: It looks like the Derya factory Exclusives are making their way through the assemble line, fit and finish, QA, and then the registration process. Then boxing with all the accessories that Derya sends in the box. You may be saying yeah, I've been patiently waiting.
Well, I showed you a part picture of the Black Cherry DY9. Here is the frame, not finished yet but it's here. Yes, they will only be sold on the Derya Exclusive website. Derya Factory Exclusives yes you can use the promo code GIJIM10 and you should.
There are additional colors that are going to drop. This is new!
Grey, PRP, Other PRP, and Black Cherry(Reddit appreciation). all limited, some are very limited than others.
When the announcement drops it will be announced here on Reddit first. This is Derya's way of again, saying "Thank you for supporting Derya."
I know, I know....now it's really going to happen, are you ready?
Do I know the exact date, no not yet, I do hear early September. This not set in stone...but now you have an idea.
I have to admit, that I bought the HF Bauer rechargeable variable speed rotary tool. It replaced my corded dremel. Now the dremel did the trick and it still is in the garage, ready to go. But the Bauer is just easier on the work bench. I have now polished just about everything with Flitz and or. the grey and white compound. Yes, I mix the two.
I have to ask, have you considered polishing your trigger connector? Have you replaced your trigger spring and or firing pin spring. Yes, I polished the firing pin, LOL. I'm going to tell you that polishing just makes the trigger a lil better. Why you ask? The thought behind polishing is not to make it shinny, it's to smooth out the metal. During the stamping process there is by default small burs or micro scratches that perhaps hinder cause a little more resistance when the two metals rub together. I have polished the triggers on most if not all of my gun, Glock, HK, Derya, Beretta, S&W, even the Browning Buck Mark. Does it make a difference? To me Yes. Now if you are not a frequent shooter or have not fully experienced with what you have. Then you may not feel the difference. If you decide to polish watch some videos, and remember do not over polish so much that it changes the geometry, rather it smooths out the metal points of contact with another metal part.
This is a sneak peak of what is coming. Not complete yet. What do you think???

Derya holster. Let me start by saying....Ghost USA....do you recognize the name? If not, let me say that I have been working with them to produce a Holster for the Dy9 and Dy9z. After many months it's finally here. Ghost Holsters is a very well known holster company making many different types of holsters for all types of shooters. I can say that they have made a holster that is specific for the DY9 and Dy9z. I will have more information for those who are looking for OWB. The IWB is being worked on. This version is without a light. A holster that will accommodate a light is in the works, but with so many lights, it's hard to make just one. These are RH, the LH are in the works.
Because you are members of this Derya Sub you will have first notification of a link for purchase for Reddit users here when they go live. I'm working on special pricing for the first 75-100 units sold to help get them out into the market. To do this, I need your pictures with the Ghost holster in use, then posted here on Derya's sub. I'm working on pricing to be under 80 beans for the entire set up. These will be listed for 115 -120 when they go live if you do not have the code you will be one of the first to get your hands on the Derya DY9, Dy9Z Ghost Holster. More pictures will be available soon. Enjoy the video and let me know what you think...
Ghost Holsters is an American-based and Italian-engineered brand that makes high-performance holsters, magazine pouches, and shooting belts. Sandro Amadini founded the brand in 1984. They are the go-to gear for professional competitive shooters worldwide in sports like USPSA, IPSC, and 3-Gun. Here is their website. The Dy9 holster WILL NOT be on this site, but if you are looking for other holsters and gear, use code GIJIM201 at checkout at Ghost Holster Direct you know I'm always looking to save everyone some beans when I can.
A mistake is not using the right tool for the type of screw head type. Use the wrong one and you will damage the screw head, by rounding or stripping the screw head.
The best is the Torx, it provides more surface area, allowing for more torque.
The Hex(Allen) is more likely to strip when under pressure.
Make sure you have the right tool, one will fit in the other and this will likely strip the screw. Do not do this!
Here are some pictures to help you identify which type of screw you have. Most firearms have a Torx type of screw. Grips may be slotted,
This set I listed is a good set that is magnetized, if you know that small screws always seems to get lost as soon as you take them out. The set also has the smaller sizes that may be needed more than the larger.
Torx Ratcheting Set, magnetized.
Now some of you may ask how do i know what the lbs of a screw is, how much torque is needed. This is accomplished by using a tool that has a documented calibration specs. I personally use a Wheeler. I use this often which justifies the price for me. There are cheaper versions, but for me knowing the device is calibrated with documentation is important to me. You can take your gun to a gunSmith and let them torque it down, just make sure you know what the torque number is for your application.
Hope this helps those who may not know the differences and to help avoid stripped screws.
