Could the French bourbon monarchy have been saved if Louis XVIII had a son and then the crown wouldnt be inherited by his conservative brother Charles X?

I was just imagining that a possible king that was younger and more open to new ideas could maybe save the crown? Ofc it also depends on how the boy would be raised. Or was the monarchy doomed to fall anyway? Let me know what you think

Best type of training outside the pool for improving swim fitness?

I have recently started swimming again after a long break, and one of my main goals is to improve my overall conditioning, especially my cardio and ability to maintain my breathing while swimming.

For those of you who do training outside the pool, what type of training would you recommend?

Right now, I’m mainly doing treadmill running, and I’m wondering what would be more beneficial for swimming: shorter runs at a higher intensity (for example, 5 minutes at a fast pace) or longer runs at a more moderate pace (for example, 15 minutes)?

I’d be glad if you could help me with that.

Sorry for any mistakes, English is not my first language.

What flags are these? All are Joan of Arc depictions

I stumbled upon a Joan of Arc video online and I saw many depictions of her carrying many different flags. Many were variations of the classic fleur de lis flag of the French monarchy, but there were also these others.

I was also curious if these flags were actually used in the Middle Ages of if those are anacronic representations

What if Louis XVI successfully escaped with his family and after Napoleon he was reinstaled as king with Louis XVII as his heir?

Would it maybe save the monarchy by avoiding Charles X? And what would change with him in exile rather than his brother (Louis XVIII)?

Congratulations! You woke up as Louis XVI and have just been informed that the Bastille fell. Considering all the knowledge you have today, what will your next actions be?

What if Napoleon (personally) took command of French naval forces?

I know this sounds absurd and that napoleon had never been a naval officer at any time of his life. But, given he had already proven to be a military genius, what if he dedicated to the art of naval warfare, studying it and maybe learning from great commanders of the past?

I know it isnt that simple and that french success on land wasnt solely based on "napoleon is a genius" and had many other important factors.

It would also be considerably risker for him that land battles, thats true.

Anyway, thats just an idea I had, probably very unrealistic. I just noticed that France usually did poorly in some areas when he wasnt present in person (for example, Spain) and the naval theater was a place where he was never present, so perhaps his greatest fragility specially considering the navy was the main british strength

Is AC Unity still worth buying today for $5?

Yesterday I saw that they were offering it for only $5. Is it worth buying even after all these years? Im more of a recent player, so Im more used to the AC like Origins, Odyssey and Valhala, so idk if an older game would feel too different for me (even though I read some good reviews about Unity, people usually just say its too short)

What if France was the dominant European power during the Scramble for Africa?

Lets imagine France reforms its monarchy before revolution

happens and also win the Seven Years War (so I imagined the French also hold India in this timeline)

In this scenario, how may the Scramble for Africa looked like?

How was Napoleon planning to organize Europe from the geopolitical point of view in case he ultimately won?

I mean, how would he probably deal with the former Holy Roman Empire and all the other lands they conquered in the previous years? Would this new order be stable or would it crumbke as soon as he dies? Or do you think Napoleon winning at the end was not possible at all?

In sorry if I commited any historical innacuracies here, Im into the Napoleonic period but Im not well versed into it. Thanks!
