I love his forays into weirdness on each album. I want a whole album from him like Bounce Boy and Blessing but i will settle for that sound from other artists!!
So many of his song titles, especially his early stuff, are just one word. Trick is entirely 1 word titles until 16 Mirrors at the very end. All but 2 titles on Beach Music are one word. All but 3 titles on Rules, Rocket and DSU are one word. I don’t really have anything deeper to say about this just an observation. I think it’s neat

I love doing the crossword but can only consistently finish the Monday and Tuesday ones without auto check. And I do those relatively quickly, no more than 8 minutes for either day. But once Wednesday comes I hit a block and can almost never finish it without auto check or assistance from Google. What are your best tips?
Thinking of going to University of the Algarve for my masters. I’m from the US, 22 yr old, female. Curious about everyone’s experience in Faro. I have a few questions:
What is the general attitude towards foreigners?
How many people speak English - obviously I would learn Portuguese, but in the meantime, will I be able to get around with English?
What’s the nightlife scene like for people in their 20s? Do the demographics of Faro lean younger or older?
How is public transit? I don’t think I’ll have a car, so I’ll be likely relying on public transit + walking to get around (but I could be convinced to get a bike!). Is this feasible?
How much do you pay per month for your housing? Was it easy to find/procure or did you feel like landlords were reluctant to rent to a foreigner?
Are there any animal rescue groups in Faro? Google says no, only in surrounding towns, but figured I’d ask. I have volunteered and fostered with my local animal shelter for 4 years now and the ability to continue with that is definitely a factor in my decision on where to move.
What are the vegan options like? I saw some vegan restaurants on Google which is great but aside from those, are there usually vegan options in the average restaurant? Are menu items well labelled for allergens?
Obviously you don’t have to answer all of these but as much info as you can provide is appreciated!! Would love an honest review of your life in Faro.
Last September, I met him through a mutual friend of my roommate and we immediately hit it off but both of us were too scared to make the first move until January when we started dating. But from that point on, it was instantaneous, we spent every day together. We went camping, we went to a music festival, I basically lived at his house. We were inseparable. But when we started dating in January, I told him: I’m gonna be in Africa for my field season for 2 months starting in June, then I’m moving to Europe in September for my masters degree. Neither of us want to do long distance, especially not intercontinentally and with no certainty that I’ll move back after my masters (in fact, it’s incredibly unlikely). But we liked each other so much that we decided it was worth it to just enjoy the time we had with each other.
We knew it was doomed the whole time. I was dreading this day and pretending it would never come but shocker it did. We had a very tearful goodbye yesterday. We’re staying in touch because we are fantastic friends before anything else but unless we live in the same city sometime in the future (unlikely) that’s all we are gonna be. It’s brutal man, we said I love you for the first time three days before I left. I became friends with all his friends and we did everything together. And it’s rough and bittersweet because prior to him I really felt ready to leave my college town. I felt like there was nothing really there left for me. And he made me love it again because I loved him. So I had some of the best 6 months of my life but I still have to leave because there’s nothing there left for me besides him.
And i don’t feel like, oh he was my soulmate, I’ll never love again, he was the only one for me, blah blah blah. We only dated for 6 months (though truly we did spend every second together it felt like longer) and i’m 22 I know I have so much life and love ahead of me. But he understood me like no man has ever understood me before. He saw and loved all the parts of myself I thought I had to keep hidden. It’s just sad to leave someone you love.

I’ve come to realize that the one common thread between all my favorite books is that there is a woman and she is in a situation. Which I know at first sounds like basically every book BUT I don’t think that’s true. Here’s some examples:

The Wall by Marleen Haushofer: Unnamed woman (woman) is last person left on earth after everyone suddenly disappears and has to learn how to fend for herself (situation).
I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman: Unnamed woman (woman) is suddenly freed (situation) after spending her life underground surrounded by male guards.
Severance by Ling Ma: Candace (woman) realizes she completely missed that the apocalypse happened and now has to join a dysfunctional group of survivors (situation).
Book Of The Unnamed Midwife by Meg Elison: Unnamed woman (woman) is one of the only female survivors of a plague killing primarily women (situation) and disguises herself as a man to provide reproductive healthcare.
You may be thinking oh so you just like dystopias and apocalypses? Well, yes, but that is not a prereq to be a Woman In A Situation. ***Jane Eyre*** for example is a WIS in my opinion.
I think Woman In A Situation fiction is just when a woman has to figure some shit out. Bonus points if it’s in a world/time that isn’t our own (except space, honestly, I’m not a big space girl, sorry Ursula Le Guin I really tried) So all that’s to say: recommendations for Woman In A Situation fiction?

Hi, I am applying to U of the Algarve for my masters. I am finishing my bachelors in the US right now. Has anyone else on here gone to Portugal grad school after US university, and if so, how did you get your degree recognized/certified in Portugal? The process is so confusing. I am in contact with U of the Algarve but they are not the most helpful so I am seeking outside help!!
Listened to DSU for the first time a bit ago and the whole album reminds me of Sufjan Steven’s first album (A Sun Came). Specifically Serpent is Lord reminds me so much of A Loverless Bed (Without Remission).

Is this anyone's kitty? They have been hanging out on Highway 9, near the elementary/middle school ish. They have been coming to my house every day for the past two weeks or so. No collar, seems well fed. And so so friendly, such a sweetie! Truthfully I am hoping they are someone's lost indoor kitty and not an outdoor kitty because I hate to think someone would let their cat roam around near the highway. So dangerous!!
