I cant decide if motorcycles arent for me or the KLR isnt for me

Let me start off by saying that I LOVE my KLR, its a beautiful bike, I get compliments on it often, I have a lot of customization to fit my large frame comfortably, its my first bike and I feel like its super beginner friendly.

Now on to the bad — when I got the bike, I had grand ideas of taking the bike on semi-touring adventures where I do a lot of highway riding and a lot of forest service roads, covering miles and miles and camping under the stars.

In reality, the bike does a TON of touring, just on a trailer thats attached to the back of my RV. I use my RV as a "home base" and take the bike out on day adventures and come "home" at night pretty much 100% of the time. I invested a lot into bike camping and have used it precisely zero times.

In the same vein of "day adventures", im a lot more aggressive with going offroad than I ever thought id be, I do a lot of 2 track trails and very few graded forest service roads, if something looks interesting, I ride it because im not worried about being delayed because im never more than 20-30 miles from home base.

Im a large and fit individual, picking the bike up off the side of the trail, no problem. Recently i've had 2 instances that really make me really regret my KLR, I dropped my bike on a FS road that had about a foot of ice covered snow on it. Idk if any of you have picked this fat pig up on ice, its about as fun as it sounds.

The second is that i've been riding in Nevada lately, the sandy soil is extremely tiring to ride on and I fucked up and got my bike stuck in a semi dry creek bed, if the bike was smaller I could have pulled it out of the mud but the KLR was just too big and heavy to get out by myself. It turned into a two day ordeal and several hundred dollars to get it out.

I also find the bike hard to control on steep descents sometimes, its just so heavy that its hard to maneuver quickly.

As I was riding my mud/muck covered bike back to the truck tonight, I couldn't help but think maybe motorcycles arent for me and I should sell it and get a SXS (then I could go out with the wife) or that maybe the KLR isnt for me. I dont know

I've been on a trip in Idaho for a month and looking for suggestions on what to do with the final month of my trip (Idaho, OR, NV areas)

Hi All!

Im currently in Boise resupplying after spending 3 weeks in the Sawtooth area! Im having a blast but would love some suggestions of what to do with the final month of my trip!

I have a moderately capable RV that I use as a "basecamp" and a launch off point for hiking, kayaking, and riding my motorcycle on forest service roads.

Im a fairly seasoned hiker, I prefer day hikes, though.

I dont Kayak rivers, just lakes.

I prefer less people over "better" views/areas

I also love museums and historical stuff

Any suggestions are welcome!

Any idea why my fork seals are leaking... again?

Hi all,

I have a 2022 KLR 650 and I trailer it on the back of my RV when I travel the country. When I first got it I strapped it down too tight and didnt give the front forks any play and caused my fork seals to leak a bit (small amount, one time)

I dont know much about bikes but I know the fork seals leaking is not good so I called some shops when I was home and a harley shop said "the owner has a KLR 650 and the seals are really simple to do", I took the forks to them, they replaced the seals, I put the forks back on and filled with oil.

I had a really hard time finding out how much oil to put in the forks, I found 2 different numbers and just went with the larger number.

Now my seals are leaking again, and way worse than before. I have the bike strapped down with about 2-3 inches of travel in the front forks and it seems like the forks are just alternating which one is leaking. The left fork will leak awhile, then the right, then back to the left.

The shop I used is 2000 miles away and offered no warranty because I brought in my own seals and reinstalled the forks myself (genuine seals, not amazon knockoffs).

My question is, what the hell do I do?? Is it something im doing? Could I have overfilled the forks and its leaking out but will eventually stop? The shop I took it to had excellent reviews, I dont think they would have done a poor job but I really dont know.

Any suggestions are welcome

Salt Lake City is one of the strangest places i've ever been

Let me preface this by saying that I vacation around the U.S.A. for 3-4 months a year, i've been all over the west, but haven't spent much time in Utah. I also know this might not be the best place to post this but r/utah mods are pussies.

Recently, I found myself in FAR western CO and I decided to mosey on over to UT. I spent a week or so around central UT, it was pleasant. Not the greatest place ever but not the worst. Decided to go to MOAB to see what all of the fuss was about, spent 4 days around the MOAB area, it kinda sucks, too many people for such a small town. Arches was average, at best.

I started running low on supplies and I wanted to go on up to Idaho since spring is in full force, the only Costco's in UT are in SLC.

SLC is probably one of the strangest places i've ever been, the people are just downright weird... I feel like 75% of the women I saw were skinny, blonde, and crispy tan, I felt like I was in the twilight zone because everyone looked the same and almost every woman I came across had an underlying attitude, like, they were polite but I felt like they were doing their best to tolerate me during what I felt like were totally normal interactions. The men fell into 2 categories, very effeminate or tacti-bro with the American flag on the sleeve of his t-shirt. Like I said, the people are polite but NOT friendly whatsoever (and you motherfuckers have a staring problem).

I guess the main thing that makes the place strange is the people, the second part is the whole area just has a weird... energy? Im not into woo-woo bullshit but the whole SLC area just has a strange feeling in the air. Also, there's these fucking soda shops on every goddamned corner, i've never seen anything like it. Whats up with that?

Anyway, traffic sucks, etc, etc. The only worse state capitols i've been to are Phoenix and Little Rock

Also, im a totally average looking guy with decent interpersonal skills, it's definitely not a "me" problem

Edit- I LOVE how mad everyone ITT is. Utah isn't my favorite but trolling you butthurt retards has been amazing

Im currently on a 3 month long road trip around the U.S. in my camper (I travel for a few months every year) and places that are usually packed are DEAD, it's been absolutely amazing.

I've literally had entire areas to myself in several states for the last few weeks! It's been incredible! I was the only tourist in a town in CO the other day.

It reminds me of COVID with travel being so down, its like a breath of fresh air. I'll be curious to see what the crowds are like in June
