Founder of Uncanned here again, you all made our launch special. Thank you

A few weeks back we posted here about launching uncanned, the prebiotic soda we'd been testing through free tastings across a bunch of communities. honestly we were expecting a few comments and maybe a couple of orders.

what happened instead still feels a little unreal. across the communities we posted in, you all helped us cross ₹1.5 lakh in sales. for a small team that started with a few crates and a lot of nervous hope, that means more than we can put into words. every order felt like someone saying "we believe in you," and we don't take that lightly.

and the feedback has been the best part. people telling us which flavour became their go-to, swapping out their evening soda, coming back for a second pack. every single message gets shared in our team chat (and yes, we read the critical ones just as closely).

so as a small thank you: everyone who ordered from this community is getting a little freebie with their order. no code, nothing to claim, it's simply our way of saying thanks for taking a chance on us so early.

if you've tried it, we'd love your honest take on what we should do better. if you haven't, zero pressure at all.

and finally, a big thank you to this community for being so kind and welcoming, and to the mods for letting us share our journey here. you've made our first chapter a really special one.

The free tasting batch we sent out here is officially a real product now, launching today

hey Hyderabad. local founder here again, same disclosure as before, i help make this, it's called uncanned, still biased.

a while back i posted here about sending out free tasting kits, no sale, just wanted a few honest hyderabadis to tell me what was actually wrong with it before we committed to anything. a bunch of you signed up, tried it, and did not hold back, one flavour especially got torn into properly.

took that seriously. went back into the recipe and fixed what people flagged, took longer than i expected, more back and forth than i planned for.

it's officially launching today. pre-orders are open. because this sub gave us the first honest reviews we got, we're throwing in a little something extra with orders from anyone here, small thank you, not a huge deal, just wanted to do it.

if you were one of the ones who got a kit or left a comment telling me flavour three needed work, thank you, this version is different because of you.

if you're just seeing this now, today's the first time you can actually order it, no forms, no waiting for a kit.

Place your order at www.Uncanned.in

Uncanned is officially launching today!

Hey bangalore foodies, founder here, I run uncanned, a prebiotic soda we've been building for close to a year now.

before launching we sent out free tasting kits to a bunch of people around the city, no strings attached, just wanted honest opinions before committing to a final recipe. got a lot of real feedback back, some flattering, some not, and went back into the formulation because of it.

it's officially launching today, pre-oreders are open.

pricing and availability, since that was the actual ask here: price for one 250ml can is ₹99, a 6-pack is ₹594. shipping all over bangalore right now.

if you tried the free kit earlier, thank you, this version is different because of what you sent back. if this is the first you're hearing of it, happy to answer anything about the flavour, ingredients, or where to grab it.

no external link in this post, just ask in the comments if you want more detail and I'll answer directly.

[Hiring] Part-time content + blog writers and an X handler for a consumer brand (2-4 hrs/day, remote)

What the work looks like:

Blog and long-form content. Brand stories, category explainers, build-in-public writing that isn’t SEO filler.

X handling. Daily posting, replies, tracking what’s working. Voice matters more than volume here.

Roughly 2-4 hours a day. Fully remote, flexible hours.

Who this is for:

Someone who actually understands business building. If you can read a pricing decision or a distribution problem and write something interesting about it, you’ll do well here. If you need a brief for every post, you won’t.

You should be comfortable moving between formats. Long-form one day, a thread the next, brand copy after that.

Prior startup or D2C exposure helps but a good portfolio matters more.

What you get:

Pay is at market for part-time content work in India, happy to discuss range on the first email.

Real ownership. You’ll see what your writing does to actual numbers, not vanity metrics.

Room to move into other verticals as we grow. We’re early enough that scope expands fast for people who are good.

If interested, email tested@betterforu.co with:

Two or three writing samples, links are fine
A line on what you find interesting about consumer brands
Your rough availability

No cover letter needed.

Posted my soda idea here a few months back. pilot's done. came back to say thanks

Founder here, so take everything below with that in mind.

Some of you might remember a post from a few months ago about Uncanned, a prebiotic soda I'm building for India. I posted half expecting to get torn apart. Got torn apart a little, but also got DMs and comments that actually changed what we built.

So, update: pilot is done. 2000 plus signups when we'd planned for [1000]. 70% of testers said they'd order again, which I still don't fully believe and yes I've rechecked the sheet twice.

Right now we're collecting proper reviews from pilot users. If the remaining approvals don't surprise us, we launch early September with few tweak in carbonation.

Stuff I wish someone had told me: the taste conversation matters way more than the health conversation. I had a whole pitch about gut health and fiber. Nobody cared. They cared after they tasted it. Also, two changes in the current formulation came straight out of comments on that old post, from strangers who had no reason to help me. That's the part that got me honestly.

Lots can still go wrong between now and September and I'm aware this post ages badly if it does. Posting anyway.

We're at beuncanned on Instagram and uncanned site if you want to watch this either work or blow up. Will answer questions in the comments, including the FSSAI ones, which I have opinions about now.

See ya ✌️

founders who sell a physical product: how did you get your first ~100 real trials without burning cash?

we're a small team about to launch our first physical product (a beverage). software founders can throw up a landing page and get signups overnight, but for something you physically ship, getting it into people's hands the first time is slow and expensive.

what we're weighing right now:

  • in-person sampling vs shipping kits (in-person is cheaper but doesn't scale; shipping eats margin fast).
  • q-commerce vs d2c for the first push — d2c last-mile basically kills the unit economics on a single unit, so we're leaning q-commerce.
  • giving the first batch away free for honest feedback, vs charging a token amount so people take it seriously.

for anyone who's launched something physical in india: how did you get your first ~100 real trials without setting money on fire? what worked, and what was a waste of time?

Mumbai, what's the last small local food or drink brand you got hooked on, and how did you find it?

Mumbai's got this endless underground of small food and drink brands, the kind you only discover because someone at a katta hands you one or it randomly shows up on a zepto shelf at midnight.

so what's the last small local one you actually got hooked on, and how did you find it? a reel, a friend, a cafe menu, some stall you walked past?

trying to understand how good local stuff travels in this city without a giant ad budget, because it feels like the algorithm and the big brands eat all the attention. curious what genuinely cut through for you.

We made a better soda and we're giving the first batch away free to honest tasters and optimistic reviewers

SnackIndia feels like exactly the right crowd for this. We made our first batch of uncanned - better soda - gut friendly, no added sugar, low calorie, and real fruit

We're not selling this batch. we're sending it free to people who'll taste it and tell us the honest truth before launch — what works, what's off, what you'd never buy twice.

**what you get**: a tasting kit shipped to you (cans + a bit of swag), a gift card for a proper review, and a permanent spot in our founders club — first taste of everything we make next.

**if you're in**, you get the cans shipped to you, a bit of swag, and a gift card for taking the time to write a proper review. you're also in the founders club after, which mostly means you taste whatever we make next before anyone else does.

sign up's at [uncanned.in](http://uncanned.in) — only a few ones.

We just made our first batch of a better soda — sharing the journey + a question for this community

Smal team, just hit our first real milestone: our first batch of a prebiotic soda (no added sugar, low calorie, Real Fruit). figured this community would appreciate the behind-the-scenes more than a polished announcement.

a few things that surprised us building it:

  • GST on fizzy drinks is ~40% (28% + 12% cess), which quietly rewrites your whole pricing model.
  • D2C looked obvious, but last-mile shipping on a single can made the contribution margin negative — q-commerce is where the math actually works.
  • co-packers think in batch sizes and changeover fees, not your vision.

the part i'm genuinely still unsure about: how do you get honest product feedback early without just hearing politeness from friends and family? we want the first cans in front of people who'll be blunt, and i'm figuring out the right way to do that.

how did others here handle early feedback for a physical product? and happy to answer anything on the beverage side — co-packing, FSSAI, q-commerce.

if you'd want to be one of the blunt early tasters, drop a comment and i'll sort the details with you.

putting together a small bangalore tasting crew for our first soda batch — free kit, honest feedback (not selling anything)

hey bangalore. local founder here (disclosure: we built this, it's called uncanned). the mods kindly okayed this post.

we just made our first batch of a soda — no added sugar, low calorie, — and we're not selling any of it. we're putting together a small tasting crew here in the city to try it and tell us honestly what's good and what's off before we launch.

what you get: a tasting kit (cans + a bit of swag), a gift card to say thanks for a proper review, and a permanent spot in our founders club — first taste of everything we make next. all we want back is honest feedback. even "flavour three is rough, fix it" is gold.

want in? sign up at uncanned.in (quick form), i won't DM anyone, per the sub rules.

small batch so only a few kits, keeping it to bangalore for shipping. when they're gone, they're gone.

Thnx.

what you get: a tasting kit shipped to you (cans + swag), a gift card for an honest review, and a permanent spot in our founders club — first taste of everything we make next.

all we want back is the truth: what's good, what's bad, what to fix.

hyderabad: we made a soda, it's not for sale, and i want a few honest people here to taste it free before we launch

hey Hyderabad_city. local founder here, building a small soda brand out of the city (disclosure: i help make it, it's called uncanned, so i'm biased).

we just finished our first batch and we're not selling a single can of it. it's going free to a few people around who like getting to a thing before everyone else does, so we can hear what's actually wrong with it before launch. i'd honestly rather a handful of hyderabadis tear into it now than find out it's off after it's on shelves.

the deal: you fill a quick form, and if you're in we ship you a tasting kit, free. the cans, a bit of swag, and a gift card to say thanks for honest reviews. you just drink it and tell us the truth, even if the truth is "flavour three is rough, fix it." that's the whole reason we're doing this.

what it is: prebiotic soda, no added sugar, low calorie, in flavours that taste indian.

small batch, so only a few kits, and we're keeping it to hyderabad initial for shipping. when they're gone they're gone.

want in? head to www.uncanned.in and enroll (takes a minute). and if you think it's a bad idea, tell me that too, honestly that's more useful.

what building a prebiotic soda in india taught me about unit economics, GST, and co-packers (+ a small honest ask)

disclosure up top, so this isn't sneaky: We're building a soda brand (uncanned, prebiotic, no added sugar). this post is mostly lessons from our first pilot, with a small ask at the end that i've marked clearly.

we just finished our first batch and i've learned more about indian F&B economics in a few months than in years of reading about it. some things that genuinely blindsided us, in case they save someone here the same surprise:

the GST on fizzy drinks is brutal. carbonated/aerated beverages sit at 28% GST plus a 12% compensation cess, so you're effectively planning around ~40%. there used to be relief if your drink had enough real juice (it could drop to 12%), but that route closed in late 2025. if you're modelling anything carbonated, put the 40% in from the very first row. it changes your MRP, your channel choice, everything after it.

your channel quietly decides if you survive. D2C looked obvious to us until the last-mile shipping cost on a single can turned the contribution margin negative. q-commerce ended up being the only place the math actually works, and even there it's thin and painfully sensitive to MRP. a few rupees on the print price is the gap between a viable can and basically donating it.

co-packers think in batches, not in your vision. MOQs, changeover fees, who's supplying the cans vs the sleeves, all of that shaped our pilot more than any branding call we made. get those answers before you fall in love with a formulation.

clean label vs shelf life is a real fight, not a slogan. every honest F&B founder hits the tradeoff between what you'd love on the ingredient list and what actually keeps the product stable on a shelf. anyone claiming they sidestepped it entirely is usually skipping a detail.

happy to go deeper on any of these in the comments, genuinely. this sub was part of my lurk-education, so trying to put something back.

the small ask, marked clearly [feedback / tasting]: we're not selling the first batch. we're sending free tasting kits to a small panel of honest people who'll tell us what's wrong with it before launch. if you'd want in, or just want to roast our flavours, please enroll in www.uncanned.in

and if you've built in F&B and have war stories, i'd rather hear those than almost anything.

Hiring a Founder’s Associate at a pre-launch brand — WFH, ₹30K/mo

Hi all,

I'm hiring my first Founder's Associate at an early-stage Indian brand. Pre-launch, small team, WFH.

The role: work directly with me on whatever's moving each week —
vendor coordination, content briefs, Q-commerce onboarding, deck
prep, financial trackers, event logistics. Tasks won't always be
neat or discrete. Most days you'll be pushing 3–5 things forward
in parallel.

What I'm looking for:
- 1–3 years of work experience (FMCG / D2C / startup preferred,
not mandatory)
- Closes tasks end-to-end without being chased
- Basic design literacy — can brief a designer and give useful
feedback (not a designer yourself)
- Strong written communication
- Comfortable with Notion, Google Workspace, Canva, basic Excel
- Self-driven, no hand-holding

Not a fit if:
- You need a fixed JD or hourly check-ins
- You're a pure specialist (only design / only marketing)
- You expect a polished corporate setup

Compensation: ₹30,000/month. Being upfront — this is below market
for experienced FMCG hires. The honest pitch is founder proximity,
exposure across every function of building a CPG brand from zero,
and a real seat early.

Logistics: fully WFH, 8 hrs/day weekdays, anywhere in India, start
ASAP.

To apply, DM me with:

  1. A short note on why this role over a higher-paying corporate one
  2. Your CV or LinkedIn
  3. One project you closed end-to-end (any context)

Happy to answer questions in the thread.
