Transitioning back into Teddy and discovered a hack!

I cut his body shorter than his legs. I am still in between shears, and not very talented in that dept anyways lol

so I just used my clipper on 40, no guard, skimmed his legs to shape and blend 🤯 does anybody else do this, I feel like it made the whole process go by a lot quicker!

of a lapdog!

This absolute unit was in our obedience class, my first time seeing this kind of dog irl! My dog does not even come up to his elbows at the withers! No side by side comparison bc we were scared 🤣

SHEARS

I am really close to upgrading my shears and I have a question. The cheap set I got from Amazon had a straight, a curved, and blender. I tried to use the toothed shear a few times but did not really notice it doing anything - maybe because it was cheap or I was using it wrong lol—I do like to do teddy trims and longer legs, so my question is do you use one? And if I had to choose between 46teeth and 24teeth, which one, and what is the difference? And do you think it makes much difference in your groom quality or not?

Just a lil blowout today🦙

Before during and after.

I tried the HV stand for the first time today. I can’t tell if my end result is better or not, my technique is still underdeveloped but overall so far so good!

Pros: everything, my back especially. And my boy actually laid down for the first time ever during a blow dry! Maybe I need to get him a little pillow for next time

Cons: I don’t work as fast as it does lol and I definitely just need more practice handling it and changing positions etc as I work.

Pray for Benny 🛁

He’s getting better little by little, but he really hates to take a bath 😭

Does anyone else have a poodle that never fully acclimated to a bath, or something else- despite your best efforts?

I AM SO EXCITED

I did it. After months of homemade contraptions and money wasted on cheaper alternatives I finally got this stand that I have been eyeballing since I started my DIY journey.

Upside: my back will thank me!
Downside: I am definitely running out of space 🤣

Speaking of running out of room, I would love to see how some of you are organizing all of your products and tools. Bonus points for unusual or creative solutions or if you’re working with limited space like me- I need some inspiration!

Helpful Clipper Tips

I saved this chart a while ago and as a self taught DIYer I found it somewhat helpful! If any of the pros see something missing, incorrect, or if you know something differently let us know in the comments!

One thing I notice that is not mentioned is to always use clippers on a freshly washed and fluff dried coat :)

What is one piece of advice or equipment that you cannot live without? I’ll go first

A dedicated table. I didn’t start out doing full grooms. I started out taking my boy in between grooms to the pet store’s self serve for a bath and blow dry, then I would come home and brush him out. I didn’t know about fluff drying I didn’t know a lot! He would lay in his bed, I would sit on the floor and brush him. Cute, but not always easy or good on my old back🤣The table was my first purchase outside of basic hygiene items and it was a game changer.

I’d love to hear where you all started and if there is one piece of advice or equipment you can share that might make someone else’s set up or routine shine a little brighter !

HV DRYER QUESTION

Hi all! I have a HV dryer from Flying Pig and I am wondering- is it worth it to get the stand and arm? How easy is it to switch from arm to hose? I got a hose attachment that fits around my neck for fluff drying but I’m finding I have to bend over a lot to make it work, not very ergonomical! What is your best hack for being hands free?

Nail Trimming

I understand the concept of trimming, I have done it myself successfully but I HATE IT. I feel like I am squeezing his nails, is that just me, or is there a superior clipper I could be using?

For now I have just been booping (a slight boop bc I am also scared of this 🤣 but want to keep him handle-able) his nails with a diamond Dremel once a week or so to keep the quick short and taking him to a pro once a month for an actual trim.

But I would love to know if you have any tips on device or procedure !
