If you had to choose one character on the whole ASOIAF story to give the ability "Return by Death" from the anime Re:Zero, who would you choose?

I'm not Really a big fan of this anime so I dont know every detail of the Power system, what i do know is that its a Very Interesting ability and here it is how It works in the context of this question: "Every time the character dies they are brought back in time", in the anime the save points are manually choosen by an outsider character, so here we will have 1 single save point: The start of the Books. If the character is Ned Stark for example They would be brought back to where They were on their First appearance in the books, in this case, beheding the Night's Watch Man, and so on for each character.

The character still feels the pain and no one else retains their memories of the time jump.

Who do you choose and how do you think they would use this ability? Do you Think They would go mad? How do you think this would change canon?

The ability would appear when they die for the first time, If They still havent died in Canon then you can choose a random death event for the character and go on from there. (Example: I give this power to Arya and she wakens it after dying by the hands of Raff, as she cut his throat he had a luck shot and stabbed her in the guts, and so on)

So I'm planning ahead on my Aegon (son of Baelon) lives fic, and currently hit a part where I'm wondering If i should bring these OCs into life, and for that I would like to know your opinion in what kinda of life they would have, How They would be viewed by the court and what relationships They could form with the existing Canon characters.

In this case these OCs would be Rhaenyra's cousins, one daughter for Daemon and two (non biological, but everyone thinks They are) for Aegon.

First, in this AU, Daemon goes to his Younger brother when his wedding to Rhea Royce is being planned, wishing for help in escaping It, as Aegon was favored by Alyssane and maybe could change the Queen's mind. So Aegon do try, and fails to convince Alyssane. At the same time, there is also another problem happening, Gael believed she would one day marry Aegon (and thats why her mother didnt arrange any suitors for her) but the boy ends up telling her he has no interest in such arrangement, breaking her heart.

So Aegon wants to solve these two problems and ends up helping Daemon and Gael by setting them up with each other. In the End It Works out and he helps them elope, but of course, both Jaehaerys and Alyssane would be mad at that and soon found out that Aegon was responsible for It, to punish him, and to not enfurriate the Royces, they marry Aegon to Rhea instead.

Now here is where the cousins for Rhaenyra appear:

Baela Targaryen

Born in 99 AC she would be the only child of Daemon and Gael, later Gael would have a stillborn son and not attempt more children.

She looks very Valyrian, taking after her mother in appearance but her Father in personality.

She will later be bethroted to Aegon's "son" with Rhea, as Daemon would do this to gain one over Viserys (he heard Viserys considering marrying Rhaenyra to the boy, he was Also Fighting Viserys at the time so decided to be petty and suggest the arrangement First)

Aellar Targaryen

Born in 101 AC, he is known as the son of Aegon and Rhea Royce, heir to House Royce. In truth, Aegon is gay and has a friendly relationship with Rhea, she wanted an heir from Aegon, and so decided to bed Men who either looked like Aegon or Her. In the End this boy looks like her but with Green eyes, everyone thinks he is the son of Aegon.

Alyssa Waters

Aegon Will travel a lot, and on one of these travels he will Go to Volantis and meet his aunt Saera. He Will realise she is not the best person, she is not the Devil but she has no morals, and that presents itself when he meets Alyssa. A 2yo girl, born in 102 AC, daughter of Saera, whom has the same mismatched eyes as his (one green and one purple), this is Also why she was named Alyssa, and Saera doesnt like the girl Because she looks like Alyssa, and planned to sell her to slavers or to a brothel.

Aegon will be mad at that and End up taking the girl with him. When he returns to Westeros he claims her as his Bastard daughter.

Alyssa is raised in the Vale with Rhea, Aegon and Aellar, but often travelling to the Red Keep as well.

My question is, would Viserys legitimate her If asked? Or would his council be against the Idea?

How having a Bastard cousin may change Rhaenyra's childhood?

Anyway, these are the characters, what do you think?

I'm currently planning ahead on my HOTD OC fic and something I've been wondering is what to do with the extra Targs who lived beyond their time and enough to affect the Dance of Dragons.

Mostly I want to know what do you think would the effect of these characters being alive bring to canon and what would you like to see happening to them! So I can have some basis/ideas.

Vissera Targaryen

In this AU, Vissera claimed Dreamfyre and bc of that was married to Baelon, however They never had more Children, she was sent to live in Dragonstone for a brief period of time, but when Aemon dies and Baelon is made heir she returns to the keep and starts to act as the Main woman in charge since Alyssane left Because of her 2nd quarrel. She Also had expectatives of being Queen. But then Baelon dies. What is of Vissera after that? Still a Dragon Rider, now widow, no Children.

I first planned to arrange some death for her by the time Haelaena appears around (so Haelaena can still get dreamfyre) but now am also wondering If i should still do this.

Gael Targaryen

In this AU she Will be saved from dying by marrying Daemon. They will have a happy marriage but im not sure If i should give them Children? Mostly worried If more OC's around would make the Timeline too confusing later on.

So, either she has children and then we add another Targaryen around to think of what I should do for their furure (Child of Daemon and Gael, potential playmates for Rhaenyra growing up? They wouldnt even have much to inherit either as well)

Or she has a lot of stillborn kids and with time It makes her relationship with Daemon bitter as they both want kids. Or their relationship get strong as they decide They dont need kids to be happy or something.

Not sure of what to do with her Future, but I'm not sure If I want to kill her either. Although her being alive later on changes A LOT as Daemon wouldnt marry Rhaenyra.

Anyway, thoughts on this?

Recently I've been playing with the Idea of a Minor house OC, in this case, House Celtigar.

This OC would be a girl, called Althea, born in 280 AC, so following the main setting of ASOIAF. She would be the only child of the current Lord Celtigar (after loosing multiple wives to stillborn Children) and so she would be named heir.

She is a reborn OC so she has memories of a past life, she knows she is inside a fictional world but cant remember much of the plot, what she decided early on was to keep as faar as possible from the plot and let the Main characters deal with It.

However, Althea is someone who mostly wants to live a cushy, quiet and rich life. And while being an heiress of a well-off house did help her with that, the limitations of medieval world technology where getting to her.

Althea used to be an engineering student on her past life, and she was particulary enthusiastic of historical marvels of engineering. This would lead her to Want one thing in this new life, to build a replica of the Alham­bra Palace from Granada. She wanted easy access to clean water (after seeing many die from dysintery) while having a castle that could cool off during hot days and produce hot water during cold days.

However to build such thing she would need a lot of Gold, not Only for the material, but to be able of hiring workers to construct It and to help her plan It. Gold she certainly doesnt have even If she spent all of House Celtigar's fortune.

So she starts to make plans to get said gold. First she decides to go after the taxes the lords in Crackclaw Point own them. But there is the whole problem of the people there being hostile to the Celtigar and literally killing anyone they sent for taxes, she decides to be diplomatic and make a deal with them, They will give her any problem They have and If she can solve It they will accept the Celtigar's lordship, If not They will be freed from the Celtigar's lordship by law, which means They will never have to deal with them again.

Here I need some help, not sure of what task could be given to her, but orignally I thought they may be having problems with comercy and travel, since the region is full of steep hills, honeycombed caverns, sinkholes, and black and green bogs. They are rather isolated and poorer than the other Lords in Westeros, I Think their Main task to Althea may be literally a "Alright, make us richer then" like a Got-yah situation.

But then she would still agree and build roman roads to conect the region with the King's road, making reliable roads that will not fall apart to the weather of the region. She would end up expending a lot of house Celtigar Wealth in this, which she would then fill with the paid taxes (although she would not ask for the years of taxes they own, but instead make them sign a contract that from now on each years they dont pay the owned taxes from precious years They will be adding interest, which Will End up with their houses indebt to the Celtigar, but They dont know/realise that at the moment), but then she would build a Harbor in Crackclaw Point and a market.

Now I need more ideas on How this could expand in making house Celtigar the richest in Westeros by the point we get to the Main Events of the story (299 AC)

Other ideas I had:

- She decides to invest in ship construction and travels to the further corners of Planetos (Doing a corlys) but with her New harbor she Will start selling the stuff she brings there

- She will incentivate people to use the Crackclaw Harbor by lowering merchant taxes there, as well as implementing a system of fixed prices for "smallfolk" products (anything considered cheap) so smallfolk from outside will be incentivate to buy stuff there.

- She will hire her workers under a modern "Job contract Laws", Basically she Will give the smallfolk she hires more rights (Standardized pay, limited work hours, vocation days, sick leave with pay, etc) mostly bc she has a kind heart but It will End up with more smallfolk Looking for work coming to work for her.

Now, her intentions wasnt to become the richest house in Westeros but It is what will happen, and my question outside of how to make this happen is: How will this affect the plot? Would the King and other Lords end up Interested on House Celtigar? Would they limit her? Would she be seen as a valuable marriage prospect?

In regards to her Father, I planned to make him a bit Old and then kill him off Early, when she was around 10yo, to give her more Freedom.

TL;DR: Althea Celtigar, born in 280, doesnt plan to make her house the richest, she wants to be as faar from the plot as possible, but she has one objective in mind to recreate the engineering marble of the Alhambra Palace, a medieval construction that would be the closest to having the Modern comfort back. So, she wants the Gold to build this castle and goes off in many ventures to get It (detailed some ideas I had in the post) and accidentaly ends up becoming the richest house in Westeros.

I also wanted some help on knowing How that could affect the Canon (If Main characters would end up Interested in what she is doing or what attention the fact she is a young unmarrired heiress would bring)

So, House of the Dragon made many changes to the books' plotlines, despite the book being mostly a Historical account, some of these changes ended up turning HOTD into Basically an Alternative Timeline, however some of these changes actually end up making parts of the story more enjoyable as well.

As this is mostly a FanFiction subreddit, Another thing I noticed with HOTD fics is that most of them seem to choose and pick what plots to follow from both The show and the books.

I tend to follow the book in my fics as the Timeline is more clear and It makes easier to keep track of ages and events.

But there are some changes of the show that I enjoyed, like the decision to make Vaemond Velaryon the brother of Corlys instead of nephew.

In the books we never get any information on the father of Vaemond, not even his name, making his character quite redudant. While still following the book timeline I usually still write Vaemond as Corly's brother.

The biggest change the show did was change the relationship between Rhaenyra and Alicent, while It did get very confusing later on and the decision to take away Aegon's agency and turn It into a fight between Rhaenyra and Alicent instead, annoyed me, I did enjoy a bit the Idea of Alicent as Rhaenyra's childhood friend instead of Just the mean stepmother, I thought It added layers to the story and relationship, but changing Alicent's whole character based on that was something I quite disliked.

Anyway, what are your thoughts? What things do you prefer from the Show and which ones do you prefer from the books? When writting FanFiction, which mix of both would make the ideal Dance of Dragons setting?

I love Lorelai's character, and the Gilmore Family in general, and I Think a lot of the relationship between her and her parents as well as the canon events would have changed If she was not an Only child.

I love What If scenarios and wanted to see what is you guys opinion on this one, what do you Think would have changed If Lorelai had a sibling close to her age growing up?

Do you think she would still have ran away? Do you Think she would also have gone nearly non-contact with her sibling? Do you think Richard and Emily would still have wanted Lorelai and Rory back on their lives if They had another child? Or do you think things wouldnt have changed much at all?

Anyway, Interested to hear your thoughts on How things, and characters, could have changed in this Scenario.

So I don't know how popular OCs are in the fandom, but there is plenty of fics out there with OC paired with canon characters, not talking about x Readers fics, but long plot focused Original Character fics (be then SI or otherwise), however I never saw one where the OC is a muggle.

And that got be wondering, which of the characters from the Marauders Era would be interesting to see paired with one? Most of the cast are Pure Bloods or don't have much opportunities to meet with muggles in the first place, so I wonder which character would make a fun story to write about if they ever fell in love with a muggle. And also, How do you imagine that would go like?

I noticed that Harry Potter is one of the fandoms where Reborn OCs (also known as SI, Reincarnators, Transmigrators, Isekaid, etc) are very common, and I do found these stories fun as I do love to read how throwing someone with a meta knowledge of the future can change canon.

However, in other fandoms it is very common to find fics where the Reborn OC, while still from another world, is from one where the canon material doesn't exist. In this case, this OC would be from a world like ours but without the Harry Potter books. They still get reborn and have "future knowledge" (seeing as they would likely be reborn from 2020-ish to the 90s) and not be an "usual OC" (original character from the actual world) since they would have pre-concepts of their previous life.

I realised that this kind of OC/Fic doesn't exist in the HP fandom (or at least I haven't found one) and I wonder if it would still be an intersting concept to see. Different from other fandoms where these kind of fics are common (like ASOIAF), HP is set in our world just with a secret society, which makes sense to see that an OC from our world but with no knowledge of HP wouldn't ba able to make a difference, but I don't think so either.

There is much to explore, for example, would this OC believe that the Wizardry World always existed in their previous world and they were just in the dark about the secret? With a mind that already lived a whole life, in a more "modern" world than the 70s-90s, what kind of interactions could they have with the Canon characters that would be different from the usual OCs? Could they still manage to change things even if they are in the dark, or would they end up being inconsequential because of that? (I would like to hear what you guys think of these questions!)

Those and other ideas is what made me interested in writing an OC like this for HP fandom, but for the lack of fics like this I wonder if it is an actual interesting concept or if it is one of those ideas that get you stuck in a hard place later on in the plot. Of course, I don't write just what is interesting to others, but I usually only post the fics I find others would like as well, so I want to hear your opinion on this! Since the OC trope is already a bit unpopular in most fandoms I was a bit in the edge about complicating it more as well lol.

Hello! I'm Watching Gilmore Girls for the First time, I started the show yesterday and am on Season 1 Episode 6. I'm liking this show a lot, actually I was even surprised with How much I like It, and despite being really early on I wanted to talk about It so much! Unfortunately It is not popular in my country and my friends arent really Interested, so I found this subreddit and decided to share some of my First Watcher thoughts, Hope you seasoned fans like this and I hope to see how much my opinion will change in the Future.

Today I wanted to talk about Lorelai Gilmore. The mother in this case.

Of the two Main characters we get in the story, Rory has been by faar my favorite, she is just a really sweet girl and while Watching It I Just want to see her suceeding in life, I got as angry as her when she lost her exam because of 30 seconds and I do enjoy her side stories more.

However, I didnt dislike Lorelai either, she was okay. Despite not liking her personality much, I actually like her jokes and thought she was a good mother, her relationship with Rory being one of the Main reasons I started liking the show.

I thought it was very brave of her to leave to raise Rory alone, despite her family wealth, she put her daughter in first place and endured hardships to reach the life she has now. That is what I thought, but past the first episodes, I started realising that Lorelai left more because of herself than Rory.

There are many characters in midia who leave their wealthy families because money cannot replace love. Most of these characters don't have the choice to leave, they cannot go back, their parents are usually abusive and awfull people, reiforcing the idea that one should priorize their mental health and happiness above dealing with abusive parents.

Early on, I thought Lorelai fit this character archetype well, but as the show progress and we get to know more about her parents and their relationship, I think Lorelai may have been a bit selfish. I say that without really knowing much yet, as I hope and believe that in further episodes we will get more about Lorelai backstory. However, Emily and Richard don't seem to fit the archetype of abusive wealth parents.

They do care about Lorelai, seeing as the only thing Emily asked in exchange for helping Rory was weekly dinners, and Lorelai acted as if she was asking too much. I do admit that Emily is awfully controling and her relationship with Lorelai feels beyond saving sometimes, and at first this seems to be enough reason for Lorelai to go nearly no contact with her parents, but I also feel that if Lorelai put some effort into it she and her mother wouldn't be at such odds. And that is without talking about her father, who seems like a honestly nice man whom Lorelai pratically ignores and doesn't even try to know, as seem in the episode where Rory enjoys her time out with him.

Emily and Richard don't seem to fit the "Abusive Parents" archetype, they clearly want Lorelai and Rory on their lives, and seem to try and put effort into it. In Emily's case this effort ends up coming as overbeating as she assumes that Rory wants whatever Emily does (as is the case with talking with the principal and inviting her schoolmates to her bday party without asking), but I also feel that Emily does want the best for Rory and has communication issues, as shown by her relationship with Lorelai. I think the gist of their Mother-Daughter situation is that both Emily and Lorelai are much alike, they are stubborn and have difficult to communicate, something Lorelai manages to overcome with Rory most of the time, but doesn't seem to try and apply to her mother.

I just feel that she doesn't put much effort into the relationship and making it work, it shouldn't just be a one-way-street. Like Emily doesn't know Lorelai at all, Lorelai also doesn't know Emily. They don't communicate. The mistake is on both of them, but while Emily tries, Lorelai doesn't. I think it may be the bad blood from the past, as they can't have a fresh start, and the complexities of their relationship is one of the interesting parts of the show. However, I feel that Lorelai lets this animosity she has with her parents get in the way of Rory.

We see it when she assumes that Rory won't like the "country-club life" and won't get along with her grandfather, being even a bit jealous when Rory does get along with him and likes that life. But more importantly, she cuts her parents off Rory's life for no reason. Despite her feelings towards them, and the clear bad-blood with her mother, she lets that affect Rory's life, and that is what makes me wonder if Lorelai is selfish.

I think I first came upon that when she doesn't allow Emily to buy expensive things for Rory. And in this case, things that wouldn't even be spoiling, things Rory could need. The faster internet (for school) and the car that Emily tried to suggest, these are both things that Lorelai comes and doens't let Emily do for her granddaughter. While it may seem that Emily is being her overbearing self here as well, in this situation she is thinking of what is best for Rory and Lorelai shuts that off for no reason but the fact she thinks her mother is being controling.

Emily has a LOT of faults, she is a complex character, but I noticed in these 6 episodes that she does make an effort for both Lorelai and Rory, when she invites Lorelai to go shopping for the birthday gift for example. But her mistake comes in the form that she ends up going overboard, as when she invites Rory's classmates without asking. But, what I have noticed is that Lorelai doesn't try back, and that is part of the reason the relationship doesn't move forward. She doesn't invite Emily out, during the dinners she makes jokes that she knows her mother won't get and she is awfully rude as well, when she could just try to be civil.

I'm talking too much by now already, but the point here is that Lorelai chooses the hardship when she doesn't have to and seems to force Rory to choose the same. I think it is an important message that money doesn't equal love, but in Lorelai case this message seems to go only halfway through, her parents don't seem like the type that would kick her out, that would force her to have married Christopher, they likely wanted her to, but I don't think they would have cut her off if she simply didn't, as we see in the show that they still visited when Rory was a baby. Lorelai wanted her independence, and that is good, but she ends up coming in the way of her daughter's life because of that.

It is a very sad truth that rich people have more opportunities than those without money, and when Rory gets in her new Private School we see that she is behind. Something we know is how much effort Rory puts into studying and that she has wanted to go to Harvard since she was little, and yet, her mother just goes for her parents when she ABSOLUTELY needs, when she could have gotten Rory into a private school since she was a little kid and helped her in the ambition of going to Harvard. She clearly was saving for the Private High School, and just couldn't pay the entrance fee (thats why she asked for the help), she clearly doesn't want her parents help at all, but she puts her own daughter at disavantage because of that.

I would understand it better if Emily and Richard were abusive, but they aren't. They are normal complex parents. They aren't good parents. But they are normal ones. How many people don't have an overbearing mother who thinks she knows what is better? A quiet and aloof father? And still manage to have good relationships with them, or at least keep it civil in the worst cases.

To me it seems that Lorelai priorized her independence above her own daughter wellbeing. I'm not saying that she couldn't raise Rory well without the fast wealth of her parents, she clearly did, Rory is well cared for. But seeing how Rory always had clear plans for her life, how she wants to travel, how she wants to get into Harvard, it feels sellfish of Lorelai to cut her off her grandparents who can help with those wishes. It is completely different from someone who doesn't have the same resources, it is a completely different story, for example, of someone poor who struggles for a better life and to accomplish their future dreams. Forced hardship when you have the option to not suffer seems just like struggle fetishization.

Anyway, I'm sure my opinion will change the more I get to know Lorelai and the other characters, but I am loving this show and wanted to share some of my early thoughts here! Thanks for reading :)

I am a big Spiderman fan, and Marvel fan in general, and always try to go to the earliest date possible when a movie is released, mostly to avoid spoilers. I usually Go with friends.

This month there Will be the Spiderman preview screenig on the 29th, wednesday, and as usual I called my friends to Go. At First everyone was in, despite being the middle of the weak the hour options were good, and we had settled on 5PM as one of our friends live in the neighboor city and It would be hard for her to get home late

We all sent the money to one of the friends so she could buy the ticket, and we were having this talk about the movie for 3 days before It reached this point, but It was then that one of the guys in the group tould us he would Only be out of work at 6PM and suggested we changed the date to saturday 1st.

There is more than Just One reason for me to Want to Go in the screening preview, besides the avoiding spoilers thing, in the local Cinema, Wednesday is the "Popcorn Sale" day, basically instead of paying 6 dolars in a popcorn bucket (the biggest size), you paid 2. (BTW converted from reais, original prices were 32 reais vs 14 reais)

So I had 3 reasons: Money, Tradition and Spoilers. However I understood It would be unfair to ask Someone to be excluded of the outing, so I decided that I would Just not Go, They could all Go together in saturday and I could Go watch by myself on Wednesday.

However my friends got REALLY angry at that, told me I was being an asshole and selfish, that If i didnt Want to spent too much money I should Just buy the small popcorn and that It didnt make much of a difference to not see a movie druing the preview screening.

I ended up accepting to Go Saturday after hours of discussion that included them saying I hate them. I Just dont see why I would be the asshole in this situation as we are all adults (we are all in our 20s) and should be able to do stuff alone without being called a jerk.

Anyway, in this situation, Am I the Asshole?

What would Westeros look like If Aegon, Visenya and Rhaenys never decided on conquering the Land and remained as Lords of Dragonstone?

Althought, I do think the Targaryens were already above Lords as Dragonstone didnt belong to any of the other 7 Kingdoms and no one would try to conquer them (BC of Dragons ofc), do you Think They already could have claimed themselves as Kings while ruling only over the Narrow Sea?

The Interesting thing would see How the Targaryen Family tree would shift by this, It is possible Maegor never gets born as It initially was because of the pressure for another heir, and even If he is still born, here he would not been forced at a marriage when he was 12 and since he grows up with Aenys and there is no throne pressure on them, their relationship could have been better as well.

Aenys likely still marries Alyssa Velaryon, having: Rhaena, Aegon, Viserys, Jaehaerys and Alyssane.

What destiny do They have here? Supposing Rhaena and Aegon still Just have their two daughters, and Viserys doesnt marry, do you Think the lordship would eventually be passed to one of Jaehaerys sons? It would be interesting If here Aegon (If not stillborn here since Alyssane wouldnt have been attacked) ends up marrying Aerea or Rhaella to tie up the family.

After that things get more complex, Rhaenys is likely never born as Jocelyn doesnt exist, unless here she is the daughter of Aemon and Aerea/Rhaella (in case Aegon is stillborn), but Viserys and Daemon could still be born as Baelon and Alyssa would Likely also end up married. What of the other children? Here It is more Likely no one dies, also, Vaegon and Maegelle are less Likely to leave for Faith/Citatel and are more likely to get Dragons as well.

How does the Timeline/Family tree divers from here? Lets suppose also that They never do get The Interest to Go conquering in the centuries that follow.

Also, since there is no Conquest, do you Think They could have ended up still worshiping the Valyrian Gods? It is a bit of a controversy the relationship between the Targs and the Faith, since we Only know about Visenya being a worshiper of the Old Valyrian Gods, and It is Likely Aegon converted Just to help on his Conquest as he clearly did not follow any of the Faith's beliefs.

Do you think we could have an active worship of the Old Valyrian Gods in the Targaryen Family If They never started the Conquest and Visenya was a more welcome member of the Family?

And then what of the rest of Westeros, would the Kingdoms we know still hold up? Would the Stormlands have falled to Hoare? Would the Riverlands finally rebelled? Maybe joining hands with King Durrandon to drive the Hoare away? Or would that never work?

By the time the Canon timelines get close, How do you Think would be the state of the "7 Kingdoms"? Which characters we know would end up changing completely or never existing?

Do you think the setting of the dance would have changed much If Baelon and Alyssa had a third child? A girl in this case. For context, Lets put Aegon (the child Alyssa died giving birth to) as being a girl and surviving infancy, not sure what would be the name tho.

Now what does this change? Do Viserys still ends up marrying Aemma? Does Daemon ends up marrying her instead of Rhea? Would he have been happied in this marriage and so never ending up as the Daemon we know? What If she has a dragon?

If she has a Son, is It more Likely for him to marry Rhaenyra than Laenor? Would this affect the crown relationship with the Velaryons?

I Think a lot of things could End up changing and I want to hear your thoughts on How the Dance of Dragons may change If Viserys and Daemon had a sister.

I thought about this and the Idea wont leave my mind, what do you Think of this scenario?

Ashara Dayne gets pregnant with Brandon's Bastard during the Tourney of Harrenhal, 9 months later she gives birth to the child while in the Red Keep. The situation has yet not fully escalated, Rhaegar is missing and so is Lyanna but no one has made the conections yet, Brandon Stark is still enjoying his time in the Riverlands while his wedding day approaches.

Months later, Ashara decides to leave the Red Keep (as many other Nobles do) when things truly escalate: Aerys takes Brandon to the black cells.

At this point no one is Really sure how things will escalate, but Ashara worries for her child if Varys (or anyone who has figured out the truth as I dont Think she would have made much of a effort to lie) tells Aerys of who is the father. Elia is also worried (Rhaegar still missing and the rumors would be going wild) so Elia and Ashara decide to swap their babies as both think it would be safer.

If a situation comes up where Aerys declare the Starks traitors and somehow demands their heads, and through his paranoid madness also demands Ashara's Bastard, Elia would have enough time and resources to hide the child and when Aerys keeps his demands, Ashara appears with Aegon instead, If he complains about treason, It was to make sure the Future heir to the Throne was safe.

And If a War breaks out, Aegon would be safely hidden in Dorne. It is not the best plan or thought process, but something two best friends, afraid and scared for their children, may do.

Ashara's child has Brandon's hair and Ashara's eyes, but not many have met her baby, and as the Dayne have Valyrian traits It is not hard to believe her baby could be born with white hair, It is likely one of her parents did have it (seeing How Edric does have that trait). While for her baby, It is easy to just cut his hair and Elia could say he had lice, with both Aegon and Ashara's Bastard having violet eyes and pale skin + being babies, its easy to do the swap. They would also have only around 1 year of age difference (Aegon's birth year is also debated).

None of them would know what was going to happen.

By the time its 283 AC and the news reach Ashara about the fate of Elia, Aegon and Rhaenys... Well what else can she do? Of course she would despair, feel guilty, I Think in this AU Ashara would never get over the destiny she ended up giving her child, and Likely has as much hatred for Clegane as the Martells.

For this scenario I say Ashara's Only reason to not end her life as she did in Canon is so she can keep taking care of Aegon, the Last thing she promised Elia and he is the boy she exchanged her child's life for.

What name would she give him here? In this case its Likely the same name she gave her bastard. Brandon Sand? I dont Think she was that in love with Brandon or would be that forward about his origins. What do you Think? What name would you choose?

I Think It would be a funny parallel in this AU, for both Ned and Ashara each to be raising one of Rhaegar's child as their "Bastard", while not thinking of the Children as such, for Ashara she is protecting Elia's son and for Ned he is protecting Lyanna's son.

Its Likely the rumors about Ashara's son being The bastard of Brandon would already be wildspread, and she could as well claim it so to keep him even safer in the current government situation, Robert Baratheon and his court may not look too much into the Valyrian Looking baby if Ashara is forward about his origins, and Said Origins are Stark ones, besides the fact people at the Red Keep would be able to confirm she did gave birth to a Bastard.

Now, other Interesting thing is when Ned does come to deliver Dawn back to the Dayne, I Think neither her or Ned would Tell the truth to each other, but They would also know that The other is lying. What do you think?

In this situation there would be no rumors about Jon being Ashara's son, but the Stark children would Likely hear about their Bastard Dornish cousin. What do you Think They would Think of him? What about Catelyn? Here she would have a comfirmation that neither Brandon or Ned would have been faithful to her.

And what about Jon? Do you Think he would be curious about this other Stark Bastard? One that was raised by his mother and away from Winterfell?

What about Aegon? How would he grow up to be? Would Ashara ever tell him the truth? Or would she, much like Ned, Also think a lie Would protect him better? Would he too grow curious about his Stark cousins and the other Stark Bastard?

How could Jon and Aegon come to meet? Maybe Jon isntead of going to the Wall, decides to First go meet with the other Stark Bastard left in the world and see what he pretends to do with his life? Have some Sense If "closure"? That would get complicated once the whole disaster of book 1 starts happening

Would Ashara be Interested in putting Aegon in the Throne? Or would the stability of Robert's reign and the fact Aegon's is safe be enough? Could she may be thinking more about revenge against Clegane and the Lannisters instead?

And more Interesting even, what If while all It is happening, Young Griff still exists? Being The Blackfyre pretender They Think is Aegon and being raised by Jon Connington to take the Throne Someday.

Anyway, How do you think this could affect Canon? What other interesting changes this scenario could bring?

Had this thought some time ago and even ended up elaborating an OC to fit in It, so I would genuinely Want to hear out how you think this could change Canon and How It could Go in a fic.

We know that Robert was lonely in his king life, ended up going from charismatic leader to drunkyard abuser, and in the end, while not all, much of It was Because of The people surronding him in King's Landing

The only person who he liked and was loyal to him, and also the only one he didnt manage to entirely piss off, was Jon Arryn, and when he died, Robert went to find his only remaining friend and bring him to KL, Ned.

But in this Scenario, Lets imagine Robert and Ned had another friend in the Vale, in this case little OC lordling.

The OC I came up for this scenario would be a Bolton, Domeric's older brother, and was sent to the Vale Because Lord Bolton heard Rickon had send his Second son there, and he Also had the jusficative of OC's mother being one of Jon Arryn's nieces. (Died at childbirth)

For his personality, I thought of something between Ned and Robert, he has a lot of moral codes he doesnt want to let Go off, likes Reading and is more of brain than brawls, but is charismatic and easy to talk to, mainly, likes to help others

Now things proceed as Canon for the Rebellion, but with this extra Bolton being in the front lines with Robert and Ned. Here there are two options for storytelling as well

OC goes with Ned to find Lyanna: Ends up surviving with Ned and Howland, finds out about Jon Snow but is forced by Ned to promise to the Old Gods he will not Tell anyone, keeps the promise

OC stays in the Capital with Robert: No Jon Snow knowledge, but manages to help out Robert in settling everything in the capital, may manage to calm him down about the dragonspawn thing and punish Clegane and Loch.

Not sure which one would be more Interesting? Or more viable as well

Now, this OC would stay in KL Because he doesnt want to Go back to the Dreaadfort and Because he realizes Robert need friends around him since one of the First things he did as King was piss off his Brother and heir by giving him Dragonstone.

OC Becomes Master of Laws in this AU (so not sure what role Stannis may take? Also If I'm not wrong, Stannis becomes master of Laws years later?)

What would this change in Canon? What would happen after the death of Jon Arryn? While Robert could Go and make OC hand, It is Also possible for Robert to Want to "reunite their crew" and Want all his friends together. How would Robert and the Kingdom change Because of this? And what about the other dynamics in the Red Keep? Cersei? Jaime? Their kids? Jon Arryn? Lysa? Baelish? Varys?

Im thinking of making him a Transmigrated/Reborn person but with no Knowledge of ASOIAF, Just Someone from our world who thinks this place is some medieval/isekai type world. So, no meta knowledge but a lots of modern world ideas and morals.

I Also thought of a Bolton subplot: Basically Ramsey thinks Domeric was the heir, most people Think so Because Roose doesnt talk about his eldest and OC hasnt visited the Dreadfort since he was a kid, but then after Ramsay kills Domeric and wants to be taken in by Lord Bolton he finds out he does have an older brother he didnt even knows existed.

So we know that at least in Old Valyria poligamy was practiced but not as core for their culture as incest, thats why Aegon, Rhaenys and Visenya are the only ones to do so since Aenar, and it wasn't something they cared about as much as incest (since Aenys was a big defensor of his children marrying each other but exiled Maegor for doing poligamy)

In this scenario, lets imagine that Poligamy was as much of a core for the Valyrians as incest, I realized half-through this idea how much it would mess the Targ family tree we know and now I need to share this idea and see your guys thoughts on it and how it would change canon.

I decided to base it of their incest practices, so basically they did Poligamy because it kept Targaryen blood inside the family. So the rules would be: 1 son and 1 daughter (both have to get married to each other). 1 son and +2 daughters (all have to get married to the son). 1 daughter and +2 sons (all have to get married to the daughter). 2 daughters and 2 sons (Traditionally each son could marry a daughter and later their children marry each other, but they could also all be married together, which would get strange for Westerosi tradition, but would no be illegal to Old Valyria). No daughters or No sons (then they marry outside the family). Multiple daughters and sons (Then they could take their pick of spouse, one son may marry 3 of his sister while the other may marry only one, or only the heir marries while the rest remains unmarried, or all they marry togehter - less accept in Westeros)

With that in mind, how do you think Westeros would react to this tradition? I think it would be much like they reacted to the Incest one, ignore when it was the Conquerors and since Maegor and Aenys don't have sisters it skiped that generation, but well, Aegon died and everything went to shit.

NOTE ABOUT PRE-CONQUEST: For the generations pre-conquest, things remain much the same, since we don't have much information of the siblings of the married Targ couples, Aegon (son of Daenys) and Elaena had an unamed sister who in here would too marry Aegon, and may have a child or not, lets say she had a daughter who married Aerys (Aegon and Elaena's child) since his wife in canon is unknown.

Maegon and Aerys marry their half-sister and have 3 sons, Daemion marries outside the family and has one son, who also marries outside and has the 3 conquerors. Aegon marries his sisters and has two sons, both who marry outside the family.

First thing to adress is that Aenys would still exile Maegor as this Poligamy tradition was valid only when added to Incest. I Also think he would still marry Rhaena and Aegon, and the other children being too young he likely thought both Viserys and Jaehaerys could marry Alyssane when they were older.

So things go pretty much like canon soo far, but in this Rhaena likely doesn't marry Andrew Farman, and Alyssa has to worry about Jaehaerys marrying both his sisters instead of only Alyssane. So if Jaehaerys wanted to fallow the tradition, and we also know Alyssane often refered to Rhaena being Jaehaerys' Visenya while she was his Rhaenys, then it is possible that when Jaehaerys runs to Dragonstone to marry Alyssane he also marries Rhaena.

Do you think his Doutrine of Excepcionalism would still work out? He managed to make Incest legal (only for targs) so I guess it wouldn't be much of a streach for him to do the same to Poligamy? Makes sense or not?

The mess starts around here, in this AU, Rhaena becomes Queen beside Alyssane, and I don't think she would have shared a bed with Jaehaerys, so her daughters remain being Rhaella and Aerea, while later Alyssane keeps having children.

Would Aerea still run away in this AU? Despite being Aegon's child, it is likely she would be promised to marry Jaehaerys first son, and when Daenerys is born this promise doesn't change, as both can still marry Aemon in the future.

If we want to keep things as canon as possible and get hid of Aerea, we could say she heard the council discussing sending her to become a Septa (which both Jaehaerys and Rhaena would protest, but Aerea doesn't know that) and ran away because of that. Or perhaps she didn't wish to marry Aemon, who she thought too young.

If not, then Daenerys still dies to the shivers and Aemon is married to Rhaena instead of Jocelyn Baratheon, which would for sure change things, Rhaenys here would not be of Baratheon blood and instead have even more legitimacy.

Now the true mess starts with Jaehaerys and Alyssane kids, the ones who survived infancy: Aemon, Baelon, Alyssa, Maegella, Vaegon, Daella, Saera, Viserra and Gael. Would make an interesting dynamic for the kingdom in this AU.

First, Maegella becomes a Septa and Vaegon a maester, would they still be allowed to do so here? I think so, since remaining unmarried is an option. So we can say 3 of Alyssane kids remain unmarried: Maegella, Vaegon and Gael (likely for being faar younger than her siblings, she may still have the same death as in canon here)

Following the set rules before, Aemon could marry Rhaena (if she lives), if not it is unlikely he gets too marry Jocelyn here since he has so many sisters, but in canon he did despite the incest tradition, so what do you think of his situation here?

Baelon could still marry Alyssa, and it is possible he would also be married to Daella, Viseera and Saera as well. Unless Aemon does. Or all of them marry together?? The only condition here is that the girls can't marry outside of the family, but they only have 2 brothers and some big age gaps, it is not as if they are oblieged to have a romance or consumate the marriage, it could also be strictly political.

Would Saera still run away? Would Viserra stil die? How would this chance their canon fates? Daella could also end up as a septa instead but she did seem to want to marry. In this AU we unfortunately get no Aemma either, unless, Daella does marry Aemon or Baelon and Aemma is their daughter.

And going straight into the Dance of Dragons situation, would the Dance still happen? Rhaenys in here would likely marry Viserys, or more acurrately, both Viseys and Daemon have to marry Rhaenys, unless Baelon and Aemon did have other children with their extra wives (unlikely? Could have been strictly political for them, thoughts on this?), or unless Daemon decides to become a Maester or Kingsguard (that actually does suit him). Other potential solution is: If Aemma (here Daella and Aemon/Baelon's kid) marries Viserys and Daemon marries Rhaenys. So we could have Aemma being the one still dying to deliver a child, and Rhaenys and Daemon's kids could stirr up a dance if they don't get married to Rhaenyra (or do get married to her while Aegon doesn't)

But if Rhaenys does die leaving only Rhaenyra as heir, and Viserys still proceeds to marry Alicent Hightower, and have: Aegon, Haelaena, Aemon and Daeron. What would happen? I see Aegon being forced to marry Rhaenyra in this situation, Haelaena to Aemon and Daeron both or one of them going to become maester/kingsguard

So no Dance? Could Poligamy here in this situation acually save the House of the Dragon from loosing their dragons? Or could something else stir up a Dance? Maybe if Rhaenyra still has bastards? Maybe if Aegon decides to marry both Rhaenyra and Haelena but favors Haelena and ignores Rhaenyra? Or the Aemma situation that is very interesting too, since Rhaenys and Daemon's kid would change the whole gameboard here.

Since to the Dance point changes completely canon I don't know how the family tree would look forwards this point, what are your thoughts on it? If the Dragons do die then its likely the Poligamy tradition starts to dissapear with time much like the incest one did, or not.

Anyway, tell me, how do you think this would change canon?

NOTE FOR CLARITY: "It doesn't make sense for them to keep Poligamy as it would make so the Targaryens can never get alliances with other houses unless they have no daughters or send all of them to become septas and only marry their sons", yes, but their Incest practices also put a big obstacle to making alliance and they still kept it, as it was important for their culture or for their understanding of how Dragon genes worked, while this is indeed an advantage, it is one that would be interesting to explore on how the obstacle affects the Targaryen House instead of just saying it is impossible to happen.

Just had this Idea and wanted to discuss How do you Think this situation would change up Canon.

Basically we have a general Idea that when Powerful skinchangers/wargs die, They become Weirwood trees, like the situation with Bloodraven rn.

Another Interesting thing is that Bloodraven, and many others like him (turned into trees) have been living in this cave with children of the Forest.

And I couldnt help but noticed the similarities between the "cave" and Winterfell's Cryptids. Isnt It strange that unlike normal cryptids, Winterfell's starts at the bottom? Usually people will dig deeper as more people die and more room is needed, but what If Winterfell was built on top of a COTF's cave?

Besides the fact the deeper one goes the stranger It gets, wouldnt It be Interesting If the Powerful wargs and skinchangers in the Stark Family became trees deep below the cryptids?

Theory asides, in the Scenario of this fic, these wargs/skinchangers/greensers remained in slumber for centuries, untill kid Jon finds them and brings his siblings there as well.

The Idea here is that Jon would Keep having dreams about the Old Kings of Winter saying he is not a Stark, and One Night he decides to break Said fears and go as deep as he can in the Cryptids. Maybe to prove he is a Stark, maybe because Theon mocked him after he became a bit fearful of the Cryptids.

The point is, Jon goes deep and by sheer dumb luck falls into a broken session of the Cryptids, finding these weirwood trees.

The place is strange no one seems to know of It. He ends up bringing Robb there, and later both bring Sansa, Arya and Bran (Rickon still too Little or unborn depending on the Timeline)

All Stark kids in this Generation are Wargs/Skinchangers, which is weird as It seems to be Very rare, and thats enough to wake up the ancient Stark "trees"

Now the question here is, How could this change Canon? Lets say It starts slowly with Just Robb and Jon, what If these Stark Kings of Old would Think of receiving Constant visits of these kids? What would They Think about being demoted to Lords, not having Direwolves and the North being in worst situation than It was in their time?

What If They decide to see their waking up as the will of the Gods and "help" their descendants? What could They plan up? What If They dont even know about Bloodraven and It starts to get in the middle of his plans?

How that could shape the Stark children' personalities and How It would change the Canon we know?

This topic has already been discussed many times over, and in many fics as well, however I would like to ask more about how realistically the ASOIAF world would be in a Rhaegar Win AU.

Since I dont Want to delve much in the hows of the Rebellion, and instead on the outcome and the years after It, this will be the setting for this Rhaegar Win AU:

Rhaegar returns to the Capital and receives the opportunity (I'm thinking Varys) to kill his own father and take the crown, feeling pressured and thinking this way he can end the Rebellion without bloodshed he does so (the official word is that Aerys died in bed, he was already in a bad state), he tried suing for peace with the Rebells but It does not work out as They dont believe his word and at this point both Aerys and Rhaegar are the villain in the eyes of the Rebells.

He however manages to settle the situation with Tywin and take a better Control of the Reach armies, besides getting the full force of Dorne on his side since Elia is Queen now.

​

In the End he wins the War, both Ned and Robert fall in the Battle of the trident, Hoster and Jon Arryn, as well as other Main rebells are tried and choose between death or the Wall.

​

When Rhaegar finally sends people for Lyanna, she already died at childbirth, Giving him a son. (for John's targ name my favorite choices always were Aemon or Visenyon)

Now with that Scenario in mind, How do you Think Rhaegar would settle the situation with the broken Realm? I Think at least that he would not demote the Paramount Houses, as their Lords are now children, but severely punish them. Stannis Likely sent to the Wall while Renly Becomes Lord Paramount of the Storm Lands, but married to a loyal house and Likely warding at KL.

Edmure Becomes Lord of the Riverlands but is Married to Cersei and the Riverlands are put into the Lannisters Control.

​

Baby Robb is heir to Winterfell with Benjen as a regent.

​

Not sure what would happen back at the Vale, but Likely a cousin of Jon Arryn taking Control.

Their punishment would Likely he more taxes while the reward to the loyal Lords would be less taxes. Althought I Think he wouldnt punish the North much Because of his love to Lyanna, Likely as a way to settle his own guilty mind over her whole Family dying bc of him.

Now this is the setting I give for Rhaegar winning the War, a lot of It with some plotholes and resting a lot in the shoulders of luck, but the objective of It is giving Rhaegar a "Good" win so to Focus in the outcome.

How do you see The realm 14 years after this? On the start of the book Canon.

Would "Jon" be legimized by Rhaegar? How would the Scenario around the Realm be? The feelings towards the Targs + the new families that would exist. How would the rest of the Targ Family be? Rhaella, Danny, Viserys, Aegon, Rhaenys and Elia?

There is a lot of fics where Jon Snow ends up in an Alternative Universe where Rhaegar won the Rebellion, and these are pretty good since book!Jon doesnt have any Idea he is Rhaegar's son, but I always wondered, what If Danny ended up in such situation instead?

So in this case I wanted to ask what do you Think would have happened If both Jon and Danny ended up in an Alternative dimension where Rhaegar won the Rebellion?

In this case, in the situation each was in the Last released book, Jon dying in the Snow and Danny escaping with Drogo to the Dothraki Sea, passing out after Khal Jhaqo finds her.

How do you imagine each would take the situation? I mean, Daenerys is likely to Think she is hallucinating, but eventually would realize this is much more real. They would wake up in the body of their alternative selves here, and Likely wouldnt know about each other's existence (book!Danny Also has no Idea Jon Snow exist, much less that she would have had another nephew), so How could each other find out that they both arent from this dimension?

And How would this Alternative verse be? How do you Think Jon, here I would guess Aemon, would be treated? I like to Think he would have still been a Bastard. And Danny? How would she had been treated? And what would she Think at seeing the dead Family she never met, and the dead Family she did, Viserys mainly.

Anyway, How are your thoughts on this scenario?
