We Met With Wilmar Tanzania limited Vingunguti — Hiring System Update

For those who dont know wilmar is a major global agribusiness group, Based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the company focuses on the processing, packing, and distribution of consumer goods like edible oils, soaps, and staples including rice operations

Jana walitaka tufanye a meeting with us KONNECT so they can see what we can do and what our services are..Tbh with you sikua prepared as much as i did bcoz first i thought ntakutana na HR tu but turns out they bought a whole gang

It was my first time presenting to a multi-billion company and i'd like to think given the circumstances i did my best. A good tip that i left wuth is to always prepare ten steps ahead so you don make full out of yourself

They apparently said they'll reach out to us for a second meeting with the directors etc

I dont really know what will happen but maaaaaan yesterday was an experience i never thought of really and for that i'm grateful

I see this could potentially be something bigger than i thought, not jus a side hustle as i termed it to be in the first place

So that was it guys. join our r/TanzaniaJobs subreddit if you are a jobseeker or simply an employer

P.S the first slide was me panicking and my partner tryin to help out but i eventually had to put on a batman face and handle it lol

Hiring system: Update on the meeting at kiwanda cha wilmar vingunguti

Leo wakati naelekea kwenye kikao nilidhani naenda kuonana na HR wa wilmar tu na kuongea nae tu simple. Little did i know that these big companies ziko serious sana na nikajikuta the whole board ya directors wakiwa wanaingia conference room ili niweze kupresent what we can do for their company

Leo nimejifunza kujiandaa 10 steps ahead na kuwa tayari katika kila kitu. Good news is i had a good experience and i gave all i had on that meeting and truth be told be companies/industries are indeed the best to work with

For a minute there nilijihisi tumefika mbali sana as a company, nilijiona kama nimetoboa vile lol,i saw how i wanted to live and how i wanted to work.

Lets keep pushing and hoping the best, Ciao!

Update: on our hiring system (Jina la kampuni inspired by spiderman brand new day film)

So apparently it is illegal to provide service online na kucharge hela bila kuwa official, tulipata a warning from someone and decided kufungua kampuni moja kwa moja

The funny thing is tulitaka kuita kampuni kwa jina la KONNEKT but took 3 weeks tukisumbuliwa na brella bcoz the name is too common. so out of exhaustion of the back and forth nikaamua kuita kampuni v-max lol.

Jina nimetoa kutoka spiderman brand newday (for those movie nerds wanajua) when the villain was trying to find the v-max lol

So there it goes

Also Tumeshusha a subreddit called r/TanzaniaJobs where tutapeana updates za ajira day to day so tune in :)

UPDATE: On building our hiring system

Tumepokea our first customer recently from a company called Madina, they wanted 30+ placements including project managers etc

Walikua proffessional sana na kilichonishangaza ni kwamba waliplan kufanya interviews mawiki na mawiki mbele and wen we pitched they can do it in 2days walishangaa and wanted our service immediately

Swala kubwa lilikuja kwenye uaminifu walikua wakilalamika kwamba they cant pay na hawajui kama we'll take their work seriously, hawakua sure if we could even deliver, luckily we did and luckily they paid us as promised

What i loved kuhusu wao was how proffessional they were, tumeshirikiana from scratch mpaka kupata watu sahihi kwa ajili yao in few days

I lowkey wish kampuni zote zingekua ivo lol, but lets not forget tuko bongo na many companies haziko proffessional as we think (trust me i know)

The good news is we delivered exactly wat they wanted, we did it in less than 3days, we got reviews nzuri both sides and made 30+ fulltime placements.

Ours system isn't fully ready yet so we kinda did some things manually lol

I'll keep updating y'all and don hesitate to share what you think

Why does hiring in Tanzania still start from zero every single time?

I've been thinking about hiring in Tanzania.

Every time a company needs employees, the process starts from zero. Write a job advert. Post it everywhere. Wait for applications. Receive hundreds of CVs. Sort them. Call candidates. Most don't qualify. Then the whole process starts again for the next vacancy.

At the same time, thousands of job seekers are already looking for work today.

Their information already exists. Their skills already exist. Their experience already exists.

So why do employers have to start from scratch every single time?

That question led us to an idea. What if there was a workforce platform instead of a traditional recruitment agency?

Imagine this: An employer logs in and simply says: "I need 10 cashiers." "I need 5 drivers." "I need 30 warehouse workers." Instead of creating job adverts, waiting for applications, and sorting hundreds of CVs, the system searches a growing workforce database and delivers candidates who match the request. The employer interviews. The employer hires

Simple. No advertising. No CV overload. No wasted time.

That's the future we're trying to build with Konnekt. Not another job board. Not another recruitment agency.

A workforce platform that helps businesses access people exactly when they need them.

We're still validating the idea, so I'd genuinely love your feedback. If you own or manage a business, would you rather advertise every vacancy—or simply request the people you need and receive qualified candidates?

Replacing repetitive hiring with an on-demand workforce platform. Looking for honest investor feedback.

I'm validating an idea aimed at improving how companies hire.

Today, hiring usually looks like this: A vacancy opens. The employer creates a job advert. Posts it across multiple channels. Waits for applications. Reviews hundreds of CVs. Contacts candidates. Repeats the same process for every new vacancy.

Yet millions of candidate profiles already exist. The data already exists. The skills already exist. The experience already exists.

Our hypothesis is simple: Instead of making employers restart the hiring process every time, why not let them access an existing workforce database?

An employer simply requests the people they need: "I need 20 warehouse workers." "I need 5 accountants." "I need 10 customer service representatives." The platform searches the database and returns qualified candidates matching those requirements.

The employer still makes the hiring decision—we simply remove the repetitive sourcing process.

We're positioning it as a workforce platform rather than a recruitment agency or job board.

We're currently validating demand before investing heavily in development.

I'd appreciate feedback from investors and operators. Does this address a meaningful market problem, or would you challenge the assumptions behind this model?

Nimesahau kutongoza

Ngl i haven't approached a girl for several years now its almost kama nimesahau kabisa. I'm a firm believer wa vitu kutokea natural especially when it comes to love or maybe that is what i prefer most. The fact natakiwa kuchase a person up and down haikagi sawa na mimi. Its either we want eachother or not. Worked for me all my life hadi sasa.

"Find what you love and let it kill you"

You know the famous sayin that says "find what you love and let it kill you" well thats what i'm trying to find, that kinda feeling i mean. To care about something or someone so deeply to the point it breaks you. Been feeling very emotionally unavailable or you might say not emotionally there for anyone or anything. How to i uncover and reach out to my feelings guys? How do i jus genuinely love someone without being blinded by pride, ego. Jus genuinely care abt something or someone without being afraid to show it.

Update on my recruitment startup journey

A few days ago I posted here asking for advice on changing the way recruitment works in my country. I got a lot of useful feedback, and I wanted to say thank you.

Tomorrow morning, I have what I'm hoping will be our first serious meeting with a potential client. It's still early days, so nothing is guaranteed, but it's exciting to finally have a real opportunity after all the planning.

At the same time, I'm still researching how recruitment works in other countries.

In Tanzania, many companies still rely on recruitment agencies that manually search for candidates or post vacancies in the usual way. I feel there has to be a more efficient model.

For those of you working in countries with large companies (US, UK, Europe, Asia, etc.):

  • How do big companies actually recruit today?
  • Do they mostly use agencies, internal recruiters, AI, talent databases, referrals, or something completely different?
  • If you were building a modern recruitment company from scratch today, what would you do differently?

I'm trying to build something that's more than just another recruitment agency, so I'd really appreciate hearing how things work where you live.

Thanks again to everyone who commented on my last post. I'll update you after tomorrow's meeting and hopefully I'll have some good news.

I'm on a mission to change the way recruitment works in my country.

Right now, we're finalizing our web platform and mobile app, and we've already started reaching out to companies and sending proposals. We're getting some traction, but not as much as we'd hoped.

The truth is, I know there are gaps in my knowledge. I may not be the best at pitching ideas yet, and there are probably things I'm not seeing. That's exactly why I'm reaching out.

My vision is ambitious: I want our company to eventually serve and influence the majority of the recruitment market in my country. To some, that may sound unrealistic. To me, it's simply the destination.

If you're a recruiter, founder, entrepreneur, HR professional, marketer, or someone who has built something from the ground up, I'd genuinely appreciate your advice.

What helped you gain traction? How did you convince people to trust a new solution? What mistakes should I avoid?

It doesn't matter what country you're from. Great ideas have no borders.

My DMs are open, and I'd be grateful for any guidance, feedback, or even tough criticism.

Thank you.
