Reduced lanes on Rifle Range Rd next to Fortinos expected anytime now until New Years

Reduced lanes on Rifle Range Rd next to Fortinos expected anytime now until New Years

For anyone wanting to frequent Fortinos or travel to/from Fortinos and St. marys secondary school in West Hamilton, Rifle Range Rd will be reduced to 1 lane near the candy factory as they are replacing their roof.

Here's a picture of one of their construction signs facing Rifle Range Rd. with an approximate location of where the lane will be cut.

4-5 panhandlers seen in 30 degree weather. Hamilton needs a labour ready (or something close to it) again

Many years ago, Hamilton had a temporary employment agency called Labour Ready. There were 2 locations. One near John and King, and one near Barton and Centennial. They have helped me at that time make money I'll explain.

When one registers with them, they go through training videos. then starting next day, people can sign in as early as 5-ish AM, wait in the office to have their name called to pick up a short shift (or sometimes a handful of shifts). Then people are paid same day or next day either by cheque or by taking cash out through their on-site bank machine.

The reason I mention this is because today I was on the road to Bayfront park from Dundas and noticed at least 4-5 panhandlers fully clothed, some of them looking like they are not playing the part at all. and today... 30 degrees.

It would be wonderful if such companies that like Labour Ready would exist. I don't think other temp agencies would compare to Labour Ready because they don't offer 1-day shifts (especially 4 hour ones) where you get paid in cash so fast.

I chose to rent a linux server from NOCIX due to low pricing. While I understand its "unmanaged", I was surprised after the Debian 12 OS install that the server barely had any files on it despite 1.6GB being already used by the system.

I did contact the company for a standard install instead of the bare-minimum install that they did. Assuming they won't help me, I'll have to make a good one from scratch.

so as a minimum I know I'll have to download:

PHP+httpd for a basic website

Dovecot for email

I downloaded the first two but could not install httpd because apr wasn't found and I couldn't install PHP because gcc wasn't found.

So whats the easiest way to get these files: PHP and httpd and Dovecot.

my goal is to run a webserver ASAP with custom emails and custom domain. I already have the domain at my registrar setup.

I have been co-administering a server for well over 15 years and have been with the same server provider for at least 10 years. We used the same software for the most part with minor upgrades. There have never been any issues with the operations of the server until now.

Today, I and other customers of the same company got an email that states the server has been taken offline due to a new Zero-day attack affecting numerous Cpanel/WHM versions and have provided the following links detailing the attack:

https://www.cyber.gc.ca/en/alerts-advisories/al26-008-vulnerability-affecting-cpanel-webhost-manager-whm-cve-2026-41940

https://support.cpanel.net/hc/en-us/articles/40073787579671-Security-CVE-2026-41940-cPanel-WHM-WP2-Security-Update-04-28-2026

Rather than try a new Cpanel (which probably costs money and might be attacked again), What are some other free managers out there I can download onto the server? The server runs linux.

By that, I'm looking for software that would help me at minimum:

create/modify/delete email addresses and its forwarders,

create/modify/delete subdomains and DNS entries,

and as a bonus, scan to ensure the important services stay active on the server.

I'm looking for a low-cost Hamilton community centre that I can use for a private function for 20-30 people. When I researched the Hamilton site, they listed centres but they do not guarantee tables or chairs, but this is something I will have to put up with.

I was wondering if there are some certain community centres people would likely avoid for any reason.

I remember in the past, mom worked at Benetto school, then after her shift, she noticed her car got stolen so I would cross the Benetto community centre off my list.

If you had to go to a Hamilton community centre for a party of any kind, which centre would you suggest (or which centre do you like the most)?
