When do you go to your doctor about vision changes?

My vision deterioration is slow and so far steady - I went from 20/60 to 20/100 from April/May to June and I can see differences day to day.

The doctor I was seeing basically told me I was overblowing my vision changes and that I needed to stop going to the clinic every time my vision changed while telling me that vision "doesn't deteriorate that fast".

I was told to not come into the clinic til December and that the (bad) prescription he gave me "should hold out til then".

This is the only clinic I can travel to, and I've already switched doctors to not have that one anymore but I'm hesitating about going in before December since I have experience with doctors / hear about doctors blacklisting you for being a "difficult patient".

But, I am having little difficulties day to day that I recognize as my prescription starting to fail. I can't afford to go to the clinic so much but if I don't, then I'll just end up not functioning.

So I ask, for those with deteriorating vision, how much does it have to deteriorate before you decide to see the doctor?

like the title says, i want software i can use offline with a dictionary i can customize in any way possible. I'm not that familiar with TTS software but I have used one that allowed me to generate audio that was hours long and I would like something similar.

bonus if it works with bought voices from acapela.

What do you do when you have no skills and multiple disabilities? (US)

My vision loss is slow but steady along with my photophobia. I have no skills to speak of and a mental disability that makes it hard to process and learn, along with another that further impairs my ability to function as a person. I have a degenerative physical disability that will end with my back collapsing, and another that affects my joints.

My current job is as a provider. I work little hours and not even for the whole year.

I currently have a case with VR that hopefully will get me a diagnosis to get services from a different agency. I am currently in the process of being approved for O&M with a non-profit since the workforce refused me on the grounds of having a job already and that job not requiring blind specific skills.

I will make plans to have the VR find me a job once I can no longer work as a provider due to my vision, but when that fails, what other avenues exist for someone who cannot go to the school, has no skills outside of being a provider, and has multiple disabilities that aggravate each other?

21M looking for friends

I would like to discuss One Piece or writing. I like video games, reading and learning new things!

I'm looking to go to conventions very soon, so any discussion along those lines would be good.

I am interested in tattoos and piercings - i just got my knuckle tats with plans for another tattoo later next year, and planning to get a proper piercing some time this year.

I look forward to meeting you <3

Stuck Part

How do you handle a part that is stuck in abandonment / feeling emotionally neglected ie stuck in a loop of saying 'you don't love me' when they are constantly assured they are loved? Ignoring them just makes it worse.

for those who are visually impaired; how do you keep track of your system? how do you journal?

Like the title says.

I've always struggled with maintaining a journal but now it is worse that I am having trouble seeing.

I've tried several apps but their text size is either too small or if its big enough, its basically impossible to navigate.

So I'm asking, how do you journal or system track?

Doctor thinks telling Social Security that I'm struggling is lying

I am currently in the process of finding out why my vision is deteriorating but there is no obvious cause so far. My vision has gotten worse in a month and does not seem to be slowing down.

I have multiple physical disabilities, including hearing loss.

I have been trying to get back on disability for years now, so I apply once or twice a year.

I am applying for the first time this year since my overall condition has worsened.

My problem is that one of my doctor views telling Social Security that I'm having difficulty seeing without a diagnosis as lying and has said he will not 'lie' to social security to "avoid legal trouble".

Will I have to hope that Social Security sends me to their own doctor if my doctors (2 so far as I am being passed around to find the cause) refuse to share or lie about my vision decline?

▲ 15 r/SpicyAutism+1 crossposts

I had my assessment last week and was told I will get my results this coming week.

I'll be honest, I felt humiliated throughout the entire process since the doctor had to help me with a number of things and I found out I did have some form of special education and generally I was unable to be still.

But, I dread to think what the results will be, if I am autistic, great I truly cannot control what is happening with my life, and if it isn't, then i need to try harder than I already am?

I feel like either way I am a failure, but only one result will allow me to access services that would make my life a little bit easier.
