Steep driveway HELP!

Hello, I don't know what to do. We bought land without a driveway, there was a steep hill and we found a way to cut the driveway in. We were planning to do a gravel driveway for now. After the crew finished 80% of the driveway (the finishing touches left to do after the house construction is done) we were able to drive up on our Honda Pilot without a problem. However, after few weeks with barely any traffic one specific area is soft and ours (and other cars) can't get through. I was going back and forth with the crew and asked what to do, the solution was to bring more crusher run and i asked for a compactor, they didn't have it, so had to rent. After this was done my husband went on to check and rode up fine, all looked good, but today my builder had called me and said he got stuck again at the same spot. Wanted to add that we're in a drought and ground is very dry now.
The builder is suggesting to put asphalt now, the driveway guy has said in the past that the asphalt needs to be put there otherwise the problems will continue. Asphalt was in the future plans. Anything we can fix or is asphalt is the only solution.

PS. Please be kind, the driveway people may be inexperienced, but they are good honest people. We knew this when hiring, because we could not afford 50k on a driveway plus materials. First time landowners, trying to build on a budget ourselves with help of friends and acquaintances.

this is after rough cut. some solid and soft rock under

Top of the hill

This is after finishing and driving few weeks (not much traffic at all )

Need wasp ID, Upstate SC

please help me identify this wasp, species, and how to discourage them from making nests right by my front door. I have at least five of them right now flying around every time I come out the door, my child is scared to get out of the house.

Durable light countertop

This is a photo of our future cabinet colors, I wanted to find a lighter, durable and stain resistant countertop? We cook a lot as a family, kids are spilling stuff and I'd like to find something that is somewhat durable. We are not fans of traditional granite. Any recommendations you can give me?

Thanks in advance! :)

Kitchen flooring dark or light?

We will have Beige upper and Dark wood lower cabinets (no island), torn between floor color. We will probably go with laminate or wood looking tiles, if we do laminate the floor should be the same in the whole house (we are building our house). Me and my husband gravitate to darker floor, but afraid it will clash with lower cabinets.

If anyone can chime in and tell us what is the best route to go? If you have a similar kitchen what did you choose?

Added photos of the similar cabinets colors we want (source - internet) and separate pics of floors that we like.

Saved my sister’s Pothos!

First picture is what it looked like after chopping all the vines, I’d say maybe a month and a half ago and now it’s growing new leaves. I did have some of them die, but most are saved.

RTA cabinets help! City Cabinets by Barker vs Cabinets com

Hi there, I have narrowed down my search of RTA cabinets to these two, specifically because they offer good quality FRAMELESS Full Access cabinets City and 100% wood doors.

City Cabinets by Barker has less variety vs Cabinets com. Regular Barker may be out of our price range.

If you have cabinets from either, can you share your feedback and photos would be great! Thank you! ❤️

Gorgeous lamp

I love this lamp that I thrifted today. I am shopping for our new house that we are be building, and want to make it feel lived in and "old" looking, if you know what I mean :) I haven't found a match of this lamp online, but wondering where it's from and what kind of shade would be fitting?

Why would this happen?

We have noticed one sunken area on our property after an excavator rode through the ground. We just bought this land and it was never built on. Looking on the size and shape we though it could be a grave... But maybe it's totally normal? Is there a totally logical explanation for this?

Vinyl siding that would not melt

Can you recommend a durable vinyl siding that will not melt in southern heat? Looking for white/off white color that will be easier to maintain. Ideally that is available in Lowes/Home Depot.
Thanks!

Four gables

This is a simple rendering of the house we are beginning to build in June. We want to do off white wide vinyl siding and grey shingle roof (possibly metal overhang). Can you recommend good quality siding that won’t melt in the southern heat and would go well will traditional style farmhouse design. I also wanted to add gable pediments, window/door trim and other decorative items on the outside of the home on a budget. If you’ve done that please share some photos with me and/or point where to buy these 🙂

Thank you!

Samsung Bespoke Fridge with Family hub

I was very against "smart" appliances, and specifically LG/Samsung brands. But just saw this fridge in the store and I loved the features of scanning ingredients and letting you know what expires when. As we have older kids and they like to shove things to the back of the fridge and then open new packages of yogurt etc. which causes spoilage and we even throw away some fruits because they didn't see it...

I did a bit of the research and I've seen people say that this may be the best fridge Samsung made in the last decade.

Looking for feedback, so far only negative reviews I found is that it started running ads, but you can turn this off. Any other issues with a family hub and generally how does the fridge do it's regular fridgy duties? 😄

New kitchen design and layout

Would like some feedback on the design. The pantry, windows and doors location stays the same, but we can change the location of the appliances. What would you change and why?
If you have a similar kitchen layout I would appreciate pictures of how it looks, thank you! :)

Home Depot or Lowes PRO desk?

We're starting to build a home on a low (ish) budget and for the sake of simplicity I thought it would be nice to buy most materials and appliances in one of the stores. Lowe's is 12 min away and Home Depot is 25 min away. I read that HD has better Pro Desk featured and better delivery, I wanted to see what you all got to say? Also what is the best way to get discounts on everything?

Thanks!

I'll start by saying that I am very happy how it turned out. Every decision on positions of the rooms was very well thought through. I love everything in this plan considering we didn't want to go over 2500 sq ft of living space. We will have a big detached garage for storage. We are not going to do any major changes to this plan, but I wanted to see if maybe we are missing something?

Edited to add:
The mudroom is not going to be a main entry point of the house, it's an emergency exit.

Hi there, we are closing our construction loan and gathering quotes for contractors. We have a builder friend who is helping us (consulting mostly). I have contacted 7 different plumbers, some have came back to me but taking long to give a quote (said they will get back to me next day and it's now 6 days without a reply). Some never responded my text. I just want to see if that's the standard in the industry? The driveway quotes came quickly and I have found our person fast.
My initial thought process that if I'm chasing a person to give me a quote I will chase them to get the work done. Do you think that's fair or should I just be extra patient with everyone? I've been told that delays are normal, but I read stories of people waiting weeks and wondering if the person ever comes to do or finish the job, which delays the whole process.

Any other advice for me in terms of how to spot good contractors?
Thanks!
