Chances of playing D1 soccer in USA.

Google Gemini says there are 215 D1 teams.

Without going into the details, it says on average intl makes up 33% of students and 67% domestic. The split varies and the better schools recruit heavier international.

This shakes out to be 3,870 domestic students total.

Now teams span across 5 years, so let's argue 3870/5 = ~750 kids per year getting recruited to D1 soccer club. No assumption made about if the # of freshmen are an even split or higher/lower, but keep this aside.

SoccerRankings app lists 6,500 competitive clubs in a single age group. Assume 18 kids per roster, that's ~120,000 kids per year and probably increasing.

750/120,000 = 0.625% (probably even lower)

So - what I'm really trying to assess, is where does a kid need to be to have a decent chance. For example, top 50 team, starter and among the top half of the team?

That would equate to 450 kids in this pool. Assume some kids are standout in lower ranked teams, but they are the star. Maybe a few dozen kids come from here?

Help me fine tune this. It's a harsh reality. I'm not sure how youth academy teams factor in.

Where do your kids stack up?

Do any drivers know what the big white painted line is BEFORE the cross walk?

Why is that every fucking driver drives right up to the cross walk. I'm talking like inches from my legs, children, pets, etc. and it's not like they slow down before they get right to the cross walk, they literally gunning it to a stop light. Fuck all these drivers. They don't know or realize the giant think white line before the cross walk.

Military Discount voids ability for price match

Just found out that using a military discount on a full priced item, voids a customers ability to get a price adjustment when the item is discounted more than the 10 percent military discount. They consider the purchase not at full price. That's pretty shitty if you ask me. Why not just refund the difference. Especially since I could re buy and return the $2500 item. Seems foolish.and wastes everyone's time.

Tips on running sprints in training?

Hi - new to sprinting. Are there any really good online resources on how to train to improve sprinting, speed and stamina?

Also, our soccer training will consist of 20 minutes of on/off sprints for conditioning, are there any tips other than to just survive or pace myself.

I'm considering pacing myself along with one of the top players, since I'm new. Just try and stick near him. Any other strategies to try?

It's grueling, like really hard and I can't even explain. Is it just a matter of keeping doing it and getting stronger. Close to puking level of hard.

Thanks.

Testing NRTK vs Antenna RTK

How can I switch back and forth on my Navimow to test the local antenna and moving the charging station. I don't want to lose my map. I've worked hard on the map and it seems like it's a good map with good compromise between close to the edge vs falling off the curb. Would really like to not lose my map. The app said something once about moving the antenna and I would lose my map, I stopped

Right now I'm using the nrtk. I'd like to use the antenna so I can park the mower in a safer spot, not in the middle of the yard and sitting on my grass. Basically I want to out the antenna where the charging station is and move the station back near the house

Advice please?

Tips for not getting stuck on boundary?

My front lawn is basically an island elevated and surrounded by paverstone curb. I made a curb ramp for the x430, but when it goes around the boundary it rides up on the curb. I already redrew the boundary and gave more clearance but seems like it wants to go over the edge. I can't risk it getting stuck hanging over the curb. Any thoughts. I do see the edge sense thing and didn't know if best to leave on or off. I'd rather it simply follow my boundary.

New Navimow x430 user

Seems like a very capable machine. Setup was cool and not hard..I'm still tweaking. I made two test runs if my 0.4 acre back yard. Today remotely I hit mow. 6% in while doing perimeter it's stops and doesn't move. Now it's shut down and disconnected. It's in an area no one will see, but this sucks. If it was on my front lawn that would suck. I don't even know what the alarm situation is like when the unit is powered down. I guess I'll see in a day or two what's going on.

Is this a symptom of a bad idle Air control valve?

The rpm bound at 900-1000, while off throttle and decelerating. It's very noticeable. Bmw x5 2003 3.0. there is no check engine light and no codes. I do see it says the fuel trim is out of range. I literally just picked up from local bmw specialist and they said they couldn't diagnose the issue. I asked about fuel trim and vac leak and guy just kind of said it was okay. I don't think they did shit. Drive the car, no errors. Gave me car back, charged me $$$$. Car sometimes stalls while right in this range, off throttle. Starts right up. No errors. I changed a ton of parts already including the iacv, but I used a cheap URO parts one and I'm worried it just isn't precise enough. My old one was shot. Car had the issue before I put in the Uro iacv, but I have no other idea what this could be.

How can I record data from the car?

I have the nt510 scan tool. Is it possible for me to drive the car around and record different inputs. The 2003 x5 is stalling off throttle, with no codes. Two mechanics looked at it and could offer no real help. I've changed a ton of parts. I need to do better diagnostics, not change parts. So first step I want to start recording data. Any suggestions beyond the nt510? I'm going to figure out the issue!

Let's be honest about cost of US Youth Soccer!

Let's be honest on here, what do you figure is your all-in total annual cost for youth soccer at the higher travel club levels (MLS Next, etc). Let's just say, no one else in my family realizes the total fully loaded cost.

$4,000+ Club dues

$1,000 uniforms, practice gear, bags, jackets

$500+ cleats/balls

$2000+ tournament travel #1 (air/car/hotel)

$2000+ tournament travel #2 (air/car/hotel)

$5000 summer travel to Europe with team (dumb)

$1000+ 3 weeks of cheap soccer camp (could be more)

$2000+ extra group training with local baller

$2000+ annual gas/tolls/hotels away weekends

$18,500 Total (and I'm trying to underestimate things)

I'm figuring it's closer to $20k+.

Am I fucking nuts? I played high school sports. Cost my parents exactly $0, zero (beyond property taxes). In fact my father who worked on weekends never come to a single wrestling match. They never drove me to a single match.

This is literally my largest single expense. I can pay it, but it's not meaningless to me in the sense that I have so much money. What these leagues are doing is perpetuating the idea to kids that these leagues are the end all and be all of top tier soccer. So in his mind, high school soccer isn't a good option. Sad really bc if you win the High School State Championship that's a high honor. I never even came close!

We told the current club we are leaving next year. Following this my kid was benched the next game and was told not to expect to play the full game, as they will have new players and guest players. Non of which were at the match last weekend. I feel like this is totally messed up at the top youth level. We are paying big $$$$ for the current season. Now it seems like the coach is trying to rationalize building up his team for next year at my expense. Seems like retaliation. Has anyone else had this experience? Should I do anything or just move on?

I'm quite surprised. After doing great and then struggling, I've come to the realization that my mind tricks me into binge eating. The only way I avoid binge eating at night, is to eat early in the day and skip dinner. If I eat anything at night I am usually always overeating and then snacking after bc I'm never satisfied at night. Past 6 months I've slowly added back on about 20 of the 45lbs I lost not that long ago. My day eating was the same, but at night I'd let in some things. What I realized is that my mind was tricking me. I'd usually eat something at night that I deemed ok, allowable, on plan, low calorie, etc. like - salads, roasted vegetables, pickles, olives, nuts, chocolate, yogurt, glass of milk, fruit, lifesavers, cucumbers, saur kraut, popcorn, tortilla chips (I'm gluten free-ish), eggs, honey, protein bar, sliced chicken breast, brisket, Etc etc. but no matter how I trick myself into starting at night with something I convince my self is ok, it always ends with candy, ice cream and me unsatisfied. I eat very clean during the day, so at night I am not hungry at all. It's just mental.

So - I realized I cant fall for this trick. I can't eat at night, period. Nothing, not even the "healthy" things. So far it's been working out much better. While I'm sad bc I know my eating addiction is resolved, it is definitely a way to keep it quiet.

I also realized at the same time, that if I eat shitty that night or during that day, it's really the next day when I'll feel bad. Inflammation, etc. in my case mainly from gluten sensitivity. Just makes me feel crappy and stiff. So these two concepts are really giving me mental clarity unlike ever before.
