I've been holding my tongue about the crash but I'm gonna say it...

I wish those fucking birds had been on that boat and drowned and gone to bird hell. They have been nothing but a hindrance and they DON'T belong inside. It's a crazy world we live in that Deb might die and The Birds (1963, 119 minutes) get to live.

What is with the trend of people constantly doing photo ops with books in this sub?

It's really weird and half the time the posts are AI generated anyway. I joined this sub for good discussions about what we're reading, not what equates to instagram influencing for book covers. I'd be willing to bet that a majority of the people doing these photo ops aren't even reading the books.

Just got rejected from two therapists

I'm so sick of pinballing around from referral to referral. Every time I want to make a therapist change, it's cycling through 3 rounds of people that won't see me. Just reached out to one that took days to respond, only to get referred to someone else because I have autism. Reached out to that one. Again, took like 3 days to respond only to tell me she isn't accepting anyone and doesn't do waitlists, but she can refer me to someone else. Why the bloody fuck is this process so difficult?

This is not to mention that once I actually find someone I then have to assess if I even like them. I stuck with my last one that I didn't even like for 3 years because I was tired of getting tossed around and didn't want to start over.

Is The Coffin Texts Resurrected by John Bunker academically sound?

I've recently been getting into reading about Egyptian funerary texts and purchased this book. However, when I looked up the author, he's apparently a big time Christian and part of the book is focused on how these texts tie into the Bible. This gave me pause because I don't want inaccurate religious bias tainting my learning. Is this book pretty accurate and unbiased from an academic standpoint?

Thanks!

Are the films 'Flubber' (1997, 132 minutes) and 'Requiem for a Dream' (2000, 198 minutes) part of the same cinematic universe?

i'm a massive robbie williams fan and certified Flubber Freak but recently my wife and stepson have been asking to watch some movies other than robie Williams ones which i usually insist on.

As head of the family I reserve the right to determine what does or doesn't get shown in our home, but for some reason this time i agreed (reluctantly!!) to let them pick something to watch on netflix. My stepson chose Requiem for a Dream, and just wow... what a film, very different from Flubber really.

Whilst it's not up there with some of williams best (Doubtfire, RV, Night at the Museum 2) it did leave an uncomfortable feeling for a few days after seeing it, which made me think about Flubber again, how the characters would cope with existing in the RFAD universe.. Weebo, Prof Brainard and the titular Flubster himself.

Curious to know peoples thoughts on a flubster/RFAD crossover, potentially something which could be turned into a franchise like the marvel batman movies or star wars. Is this something that could be pitched to paramunt?

Any other dysacusis sufferers?

I got my tinnitus in September due to noise exposure. The ringing has faded over the months, but I now have dysacusis, especially when listening to music. Everything sounds metallic and warbled in my right ear. Just curious if anyone has successfully treated it. Music was the one thing in life that made me happy and now it's gone.

I don't want to do this anymore

I'm just tired. I'm tired of being alone. I'm tired of being horrified by intimacy/vulnerability. I'm tired of the mental health industry giving as small a shit as possible. I'm tired of watching other people find joy. I'm tired of walking around in this body. I'm tired of my job. I'm tired of my friends.

I honestly don't know how much longer I can do this.

Hyperacusis absolutely sucks

Got tinnitus from not wearing earplugs at a show last year. A lot of the ringing has gotten quieter, but I still have hyperacusis especially when listening to music. I get a hissing/buzzing sound like my right ear is listening with a shitty earbud. Music has always been my one thing, and it's not even enjoyable anymore. I'm such an idiot.

Groomer suggestions?

Unfortunately my dog thinks clipping his nails means he's getting his feet cut off and bathing means he's drowning and I'm over it. Does anyone have good suggestions for a groomer that can handle a not-easy 90 lb dog?

I've had noise induced tinnitus since September. I've basically avoided concerts since then. I have loop earplugs which are designed to lower the decibel level without blocking out the noise entirely. Had anyone used them for protecting against further trauma? I want to be very careful.
