How to understand comic-style inking.

Hi, I would like to learn comic-style inking.

Please could someone tell me the essential steps and courses to reach and understand this illustration?

What should I learn? Which fundamental should I keep in mind? Etc...

Also, what did the artist do to reach this spectacular illustration? What methods and techniques does he use?

I think I will study line work before moving to coloring. Speaking of coloring, what is this rendering called? Did he use an airbrush?

I want to make a style, but idk what it's actually called?

Hi, I want to create an anime-style drawing, but the coloring method is inspired by comic-style flat coloring rendering, such as using solid black for shading. The reason is that I want to develop a horror/military/vampire story in the future, and I don't like the shading style used in horror manga for their characters. However, I don't know the proper term for this style.

Mostly, this question comes from someone who only knows the cell-shading technique. I want to know if there is any style that uses flat coloring besides cell shading.

You could recommend gradients and soft/airbrush effects, etc., that are used during coloring; I don’t mind if I combine both Japanese and Western coloring, too.

Speaking of which, I know most manga rely on black and white, but this's the majority; it's not a hard rule I should really follow. Maybe I'll consider calling it a webtoon instead of a manga if I really want to use colours.

I would appreciate it if you could recommend me an artist who kinda did this, or if there's another flat coloring technique other than cell shading

Thanks in advance!

Hair and line Art

I struggle with the hair and line art. How to fix them? Speaking of line art, I used vector layers for this because it has a feature that allows me to thicken or thin the lines depending on my needs. But still didn't work. And why does the hair look flat?

You understand things with time, I have been drawing seriously for A year, and my artis still bad

I have been drawing seriously for a year, and I see some improvement, but my art still lacks the professional touch. Specific for sketching and connecting objects.

Whenever I ask for advice on how to bridge this gap, I often get responses like:

1- You just understand things with time.

2- It’s all trial and error.

3- Keep drawing; it’ll click eventually.

While I appreciate their replies, this feels like a deflection. It treats art understanding as a passive puzzle that solves itself after thousands of hours, rather than a skill with learnable mechanics.

It makes me feel like the people giving this advice either don’t remember how they learned or are just repeating what they’ve always heard. ( without mentioning the misinformation that goes around the Internet)

I don’t want to just "wait" for my brain to figure it out. I want to know the legitimate way to learn. Also, I don’t want to repeat the same errors that the artist made before me.

I’m ready to put in the work, but I need a roadmap, not just a timeline.

-Things I struggle with at the moment.

-Sketching process

-understand light and shadow

How to connect the objects to make it like 3d to start creating a character from imagination.

New writer, I don't have a clear idea of what I'm trying to create. Looking for feedback.

It's like I don't know whare god put me. But here is my draft; there are two parts here.

1- The draft that I'm trying to follow.

2- And an incomplete polished one.

Keep in mind I'm doing my one-shot (dark sci-fi/ milltary) for practice, to post my story for free someday. Afterwards, I could begin for real. I want to get used to writing and know how it works.

But before we begin, here is my character background kane.

0-

Kane is a villain protagonist vampire with an archetype: The Social Reject, The Obsessed Scientist.

He wants to prove he's a god or something; he needs this acknowledgment because he has a bad experience from his past normal life as a scapegoat, and as revenge, he needs to hear compliments to make him look like a god.

Here:

----------------------

1-

In the evening, three soldiers run quickly to Kane's room, and one of them knocks on the door, but they do not hear a response. So they crushed the door.

They find him on the floor

They said: Did someone attack him?

They tried to awaken him from his sleep.

Kane said: Who dares to enter my room? “Punch”

Looks like he’s doing his research as usual!

They tried to explain that this order is from the leader(demon lord), and he has to look for three spies in the prison. They got caught, and Kane has to do his work to check them out.

Kane, with his three soldiers, walks to the prison to check out these spies.

All of them were men.

Kane tried to get a word from them about why they entered their castle, but none of them

cared about their fate!

So Kane did not know what he should do.

He was kinda bored and in pain, and he wanted to finish his work quickly.

So! He got to prove he is a God of death.

Kane said: I’m the god of death; I control the lives and deaths of people.

One of the spies said while laughing: Prove it!

Kane orders all his soldiers to pick the other two spies. Kane is gonna prove he is a god.

Here is the method.

Kane: Kill the first one. The soldier killed the spy

Kane: Spare the second. The soldier let the spy run.

Kane: You see, now I can control life and death.

Let me see your stupid face now.

The last spy got angry and said: You're not a god, you're just a filthy vampire.

Kane: I see

Spy: Remove these chains, so I can put you in your place!

Kane: Do as they said and bring our weapons. The soldiers do what Kane said.

After they got their weapon, the spy tried to charge at Kane, he wants to avenge his friend.

But with seconds kane cut him in half.

And after a moment, he killed the spy that he had spared by throwing his weapon.

All three die.

So what should Kane say to the Demon Lord ( leader)

He has no idea, but maybe he needs to send his report to him.

----------------------

2- I changed the spies' term to simply suspect. They got caught in the war:

Kane: We know your troops are wounded and hiding; tell me where they are, and you will be spared. I’m looking for the truth. Where did the rest of your unit go?

Suspect: Why do you want to know?

Kane: Where are the children hiding?

Suspect:Where is it supposed to

Kane: Why are you not telling me?

Suspect: Go to hell.

Kane: You’re not in command here.

Suspect: You have nothing.

Kane: I sure have

Suspect: You think you can break me

Kane: No. But I think the truth will. Because they already left you and betrayed you. No more meaningless resisting.

------------

Since my character is a villain, I struggle with what kinda lesson I wanna teach the reader. Maybe it doesn't need to have one.

What do you think of the polished one?

Does this dialogue give some interrogation vibe? Any tips?

My first OC, Kane

Hi, I hope your day is wonderful.

Tbh, I'm not sure what I could ask here.

Although I'm a beginner artist(still studying), he's my vampire villain protagonist who has his own spotlight and works related to the occult to fight humanity in the future( dark sci-fi/military genre).

I wanna keep his background a secret. (The only thing I can tell is he's like a scapegoat, and he wants nothing but pure revenge).

Actually, screw this: The one I'm trying to write currently for my one-shot (I'm doing it for practice, it's like the side story because I wanna get comfortable, then I can make a new one for real, "I'm a beginner writer")

It's a villain with an archetype: The Social Reject, The Obsessed Scientist.

He wants to prove he's a god or something; he needs this acknowledgment because he has a bad experience from his past normal life, and as revenge, he needs to hear some compliments to make him look like a god.

In my simplified one-shot, he's gonna prove he's the god of death, but he'll do it in an unpredictable way, can't wait to actually finish it.

The design is inspired from reliogion and vampires.

For example, his helmet is inspired by a pope hat. I really like how it looks, so I added it. And to make him look like a vampire, I add bat wings.

But what do you think about his design?

Honestly, I really like my attempt to design him, and I had fun trying a different anime style that works for him.

But maybe I need some outside voices to give some tips, and if my character is likable, even though he is a villain.

And any kinda help is appreciated, this is not the final product, so I'm open to changing his look as necessary

Cell Shading course for digital artists

Hi, as the title says, I'm willing to pay for courses that are specifically for Cell Shading anime style. I wanna know all the tips and tricks of this style.

The problem is that as I begin searching, I can't seem to find any for some reason.

That's why I wanna ask if someone knows some websites or courses that will be highly recommended.

Thanks in advance.

What do you think of this style?

I struggle a lot with cel-shading, especially with hair. What can I add or improve to the drawing?

Any other criticism is welcome, the proportion, the color choices, the highlight of the hair and shading in general, etc.

How well did I do? This is my first time.

I was practicing making a manga (with a color page as a bonus) without any details and depth to the story; I was just exploring to see if making manga was the right choice for me.

This is my first time making a page with panels.

Pls ignore the second guy's design, I did not have the idea what kinda look he should have.

Any tips to make the manga page look cool? The dialogue? The art?

I'm gonna make small projects to see what I'm currently lacking and improve accordingly, so any kinda help will be appreciated.
