Celebrating many milestones!

Nicks birthday. Shuyler's birthday. And 25k members to the Reddit sub!

That's an extraordinary amount of celebration needed!

Can't belive the Reddit sub has grown so much! It's been wild! Feels like just yesterday they were doing the 5k giveaway. Time really flies by!

Happy Birthday Shuyler! I know as we get older birthdays "don't really matter" as much as they once did. We find ourselves desiring the simple things in life, dinner with our loved ones, and a good steak. I sincerely hope you had an excellent birthday! Best wishes to you my friend.

62 years building the toughest boots around! Quite the accomplishment! It's not easy staying in business for over 6 decades. I consider myself blessed to have discovered Nicks! It's really helped to change my perceptions in life. I can simply not sing enough praises for the boots. The quality. The craftsmanship. The attention to detail. More importantly, the people! It's the people, the owners, the managers, the crew, all of which are just really amazing! Very down to earth. Very easy to talk to and approachable. Kind and generous. Honest and up front. Never afraid to face an issue head on and not only find, but implement a solution. It's rather refreshing! Especially in this day and age. A very rare trait.

I'll post a few pictures of my boots. But I really don't want to make this post about me. I'm just a guy who likes boots and fine leather. Let's all take a moment to really celebrate Nicks, Shuyler, and the whole crew! Making serious boots! Growing an amazing community! And always allowing us to share in their milestones! Thank you to everyone at Nicks!

Roll that beautiful blue Beans Build footage!

Another Whatnot delivery day!

Today a Ti bead anodized blue by Beans himself. It's wonderful! Plus the new stickers are awesome!

I am a sucker for blue. A sucker for blue anodized titanium. So I had to jump on this bead.

I've got a nice black and blue KeyBar setup. So I knew this bead would be perfect for it. Black and Blue carbon camo KeyBar. Blue anno screws. Blue anno clip (I applied flame anno myself on this). Blue anno letter opener. And now the signed Blue anno bead for the lanyard pull. Combined with the blue anno Ti Pocket bit. Throw in Sub Zero paracord that used to be laces. It's great!

Tankers, and Selvage, and Shorts oh my!

Been wearing my Chukkas a lot since summer temps arrived in Texas. But I don't want my tankers to be left out. Figured today was a good day to bust out the tankers with shorts. Why not right? It's 90 degrees, incredible sunny, and hot!

Combined the whole Cypress Light Gray/Ash Gray lineup today. CLG Tactical Tankers 3.0, bracelet, ring, key clip, and knife sheath and lanyard. Ash Gray waxed flesh heritage work belt. Right along with my Onyx Double Black Brave Star Die Hard Shorts I made.

The Tactical Tanker 3.0 is freaking awesome! I'm loving them. I don't want them to be neglected simply because it's hot. The padded gusset is great! Love having that matching leather there. Plus it really gives the gusset some protection from tightening the straps. The relief notch is great for the tankers as well. Gives them a perfect designated spot to flex. And the "strapper keepers" I installed myself are doing a great job containing the excess strap. No regrets whatsoever!

Stonewashed sa-Ti-rday!

Today was a good day to bust out some of my favorite Stonewashed gear!

GMT watch, rock carved Overlook, US Pocket Pro, and the Ti Tanto Jigbone Lookout!

I just love this combo! Big Ideas stonewashed is freaking excellent!

Matched it all up with my boots, my belt, key clip, bracelet, ring, and sheath for the Lookout. A gray day in the best way possible!

The gear responsible for the fades. Big Idea Fades. Lol. Can you guess the gear?

Been rocking these 14.5oz Brave Star Die Hard Double Fronts for a good bit now. Let's just say the gear is carry has left it's impression. Lol.

Fun little game... can you guess the gear? Anyone familiar with Big Idea Design gear? It's had a home in these pockets for a solid 7 months straight.

Big Idea Fades?! Can you guess the gear, based on fades alone?

Without scrolling to the gear reveal pictures, can you guess the gear based on the fades alone? Lol.

Been rocking these Brave Star 14.5oz Shogun Die Hard Double Fronts pretty regularly. They were pants, but I turned them into shorts for the summer time. Jorts schmorts! I know, I know. But I'm digging them. And the Texas summer is already heating up! I'm addicted to the pocket layout. Couldn't go the whole summer without my double front pockets.

This Big Idea gear is always with me. And it's really created some cool wear and fades on the Selvage. I love it!

One fixed, one folder every day. Two is one, one is none. My favorite combo lately... Overlook-Lookout.

I've been carrying one fixed, one folder for many years now. Over the course of the years the blades have changed. But recently I've been stuck on this combo. The Overlook and the Lookout.

I have a pretty good line up of similar builds to carry together.

Brand new to me Blue Camo Overlook paired with the Drop Point Lookout with blue G10, and the Blue Camo bead. All wrapped in Tempesti Cobalto leather.

Fully custom rock carved Stonewashed Overlook paired with the true 1 of 1 Jigbone carved Tanto Lookout, with the Stonewashed bead. All wrapped in Horween Cypress Light Gray leather.

Pete's Pirate Life edition acid washed Overlook paired with the full black out Lookout, with the Big Idea ranger patch lanyard pull. Signed by Brantley, Joe, and Chad! Wrapped in Wickett and Craig black VegTan skirting leather.

And the Tequila Sunrise Duo Tone Overlook paired with a Clip Point Lookout with orange G10 scales, and a Brass Damascus bead. Wrapped in Horween Brown Waxed Flesh.

Big Idea Design Overlook in the Blue Anno Camo! Beans Build!

Thanks to u/StrandedRat1 I picked up this beautiful Blue Camo Overlook. I had already scooped up a Blue Camo bead on a previous Whatnot auction, so to get another chance at the knife was a no brainer!

Blue anno, bronze anno, and stonewashed camo. Love the look! Perfectly matches up with the blue G10 scales and blue camo bead on the Drop Point Lookout.

Beans signed the box and the blade itself. A true 1 of 1. Love it!

First wash. Brave Star Die Hard 14.5oz Shogun and 14 oz Onyx.

I got both of these pairs in the beginning of 2025. However when I first got them, I was only wearing them on my days off from work. So only once a week maybe.

This past October, I decided to wear them in conjuction with the Stitchdown Patina Thunderdome. Even to work in. So for over six months I was rotating between 4 pairs. For work, for days off, for everything.

I do think the Shogun did get more wear than the Onyx. So the fades are visibly more noticeable. But even though the Shogun is half an ounce heavier, I feel like the Onyx is tougher and more rigid feeling. So I'm sure that contributes to the amount of fading.

Here recent with the Texas summer heat already here, I made the decision to turn them into shorts. I'm too addicted to the pockets to let them go for the summer. My summer work is significantly more dirty than fall and winter work. So they already got all muddy and dirty.

I love how the Shogun is coming along. You can really see the lines and marks from what I keep in my pockets. Right side, folding pocket knife, and a pocket screwdriver. Left side 18650 battery in a leather sleeve, and a hank.

Paisley day! Matchy Matchy.

Didn't get the Paisley TPT while I was at the Blade Show. Kinda been kicking myself about it, ever since. So when they dropped the Paisley run again last week, I got in on it.

DLC coated Paisley TPT Slide ez swap edition. Perfectly matched to my DLC Paisley Base Line Bolt that I did scoop up at the blade show. Both go right along perfectly with the black BID Paisley bandana! Love the trio!

This will be my 4th matching set! Standard DLC TPT slide with the Click Edc. Both of these are from the original Kickstarter back in 2018.

Keltic Blue TPT Slide with matching Pocket Pro.

Electric blue TPT Slide and Dual Side Click colab with Voyage Bladeworks.

And of course the most recent additions, DLC Paisley TPT Slide ez swap, and DLC Paisley Base Line Bolt.

Ti Tuesday: Cerakote edition, and some daily use patina.

I have always loved Big Ideas cerakote. It's so good!

The Click Edc is the oldest of the bunch. 5 years old. I daily carried this for two years straight. It's worked outside in the heat and humidity. And the mud, dirt, and sand. It's remodeled two whole houses and taken tons of notes and measurements.

I got the Tequila Sunrise Inline from none other than Mr u/stickytack. And of course the reasonably new Duo Tone Overlook.

I love the patina potential of the cerakote. While yes it offers great color and protection. Daily wear will still get some good patina.

Mail call... it's Whatnot drop day!

CokeyZ patch and Blue anno pocket bit!

CokeyZ joins the patch ranks on the Edc pouch.

Out with the old car fob ring... in with the new. Safe to say... I've got a thing for blue.

Vlog Day baby!

Vlog Day! Always exciting!

Been a long day for me already! Alarm went off at 330am. Had to be at work at 430am. On a short break now. Gotta go back to work shortly.

Paisley Drop! Base Line Bolts in DLC laser etch! Ez swap TPT Slide in DLC laser etc. And the Stonewashed Overlook! Get em while they're hot! Limited release!

I scooped up the ez swap TPT to match the Base Line I had picked up at TX Blade Show! Great matching pair!

For the longest time I was using nylon belts. Then several vears ago, I invested in one of Nicks belts. Wickett and Craig Double Stuffed Slate Heavy Duty Work Belt. And it was on a whole other level! Super thick leather! Stiff And solid brass buckle. It's been such a great belt. I'm not sure I'Il ever be able to go back to nylon belts ever again.

Since that time I've managed to acquire several more. Many of which match right along with one of my pairs of boots. Never thought I'd be a boot matching belt kinda guy But here we are. 6 belts in. 5 of the 6 are dead on matches.

Wickett and Craig Double Stuffed Slate HD work belt.

Wickett and Craig Double Stuffed Natural HD work belt.

Wickett and Craig Double Stuffed Cobalt Appaloosa Gunslinger.

Seidel 64 Mahogany HD work belt.

Seidel 64 Ash Gray roughout Heritage work belt. ( used Venetian Shoe Cream to turn this into an Ash Gray waxed flesh)

Horween Greener Pastures waxed flesh Heritage work belt

These belts are all made from such high quality leather! They will easily out live me Hopefully my children will eniov them down the road as much as I have. I can't recommend them enough. Nicksbelts.com
