Summary:

Winter is coming. And the Stark’s deadliest enemy is coming with it. The secrets of Winterfell cannot stay sealed forever as the ghosts of the Kings of Winter claw at the door of the crypts and as beasts start to act more like men.

After the fall of the Targaryen Dynasty, Westeros has fractured back into seven warring kingdoms. With the Targaryens scattered, no dragons, and no Iron Throne, the Kings of Westeros lead their people in a bloody war for the divided land, glory and revenge.

As King in the North, Eddard Stark has ruled uncontested since the fall of the dragons. And as the Westerosi Kings gather in the Twins to elect a new King to rule over Westeros, Lord Eddard can only hope that he’s prepared his family for the battles to come in the battlefields, in the courts, and inside the walls of Winterfell itself. Even worse, whispers travel fast around the continent that the many heirs of the blood of the dragon are stirring and are seeking to reclaim their birthrights. Seeking to reclaim the Iron Throne.

And I wanted to make a post updating folks about the status of the fanfic because I keep getting lots of messages from people who are wondering if I’m still writing it lol ✋🏿😭😂. I literally commented on an entirely different subreddit and someone commented under my comment to ask if I was still writing the fanfic haha.

I want to let folks know that, no the fanfic is not abandoned and I actually have 89 chapters written out. I just haven’t posted them yet because I’ve just had to prioritize shit that was going on in my real life. And by the end of the year I’m just going to post all the chapters I have written so far at once.

I did not realize so many people were waiting for updates lol. I was just writing this story for fun. And I really appreciate everyone who is so invested in the story! Like omg I love that so many of you love the story so far haha.

But yea, just keep an eye out bc the next chapters will be coming soon! Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about it!

What is the demand for piano Technicians?

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I’m wondering what the actual demand for piano tuners is and whether this is a good career to pursue?

I was thinking of going to North Bennett for piano technology to learn piano tuning and then pursue a career. But the more I researched I’m not sure if this is the best move. It seems like most piano tuners are entrepreneurs and that salaries positions are rare. And I’m concerned bc will this career be phase four as electronic keyboards continue to be made?

I keep hearing this job is in demand but I’m not so sure as I keep researching.

How did you guys handle the bad job market in 2008?

I’m 24F and I just need some advice.

So, I really don’t know what to do rn bc I cannot find a job and I’ve been looking for a long time.

I want to go back to school to study aerospace engineering and got accepted into the program. And I’ve been applying to entry level positions at different aviation companies and have been getting a lot of rejections bc they said I didn’t have the experience. So I thought, alright cool, I’ll pivot.

I decided to aim for like warehouse jobs and retail just to get some money in my pocket. And I’ve worked at warehouses and retail in the past so I thought it would be easy for me to land a job. But they rejected me too! And when I asked for feedback, they didn’t respond to me.

But recently I landed an interview as an aircraft mechanic apprentice and the interview went really well and the general manager wanted to hire me. But then he called me today and told me his supervisors wanted someone with more experience. And it frustrated me bc I worked as an aircraft mechanic helper already too so I’m not sure what they mean by “I have no experience.” I would have been doing the same exact thing at this job that I did in my previous role.

And on top of that, they only wanted to pay me $15-$18/hr which wouldn’t have even been enough to live off of where I live currently in the US. And the general manager was apologetic bc he said I would have been a good fit but that it was out of his hands. But according to him, the company was struggling to hire mechanics bc they’re not offering enough in pay and a lot of mechanics are turning the offers down.

All this to say…I’m getting very frustrated bc I don’t know what to do right now. I don’t know what companies even want rn. I’m genuinely thinking of just trying to join the military and go active. But I’m also really upset rn so I could just be being catastrophic.

So I’m wondering if any of you have any advice and what you’d recommend I do. Bc it’s not that I haven’t been looking, I just haven’t been getting any bites.

The real reason people resort to victim blaming is because they’re too scared to confront the person doing the actual harm.

This happens in a lot of scenarios but I think the easiest example I could use is dating. When someone gets sexually assaulted or used for their money or for their body or whatever else happens, people always immediately resort to blaming the victim. They say “You should have vetted them better!” “You shouldn’t have put yourself in that situation!”

This never made sense to me because you can’t read the mind or control the actions of another person. But as I got older and have witnessed or seen things like this happen in real life, what I’ve seen is that what it really comes down to is that people are too scared to confront the person doing the actual harm and resort to blaming the victim not because they think the victim is actually at fault, but because they’re too scared confront the person doing the actual harm. But they also don’t want to admit that they’re scared so they just dogpile on the victim.

They don’t want to provoke the person doing the harm into aiming the bad behavior at them so they just stay quiet. They don’t want to be the one to cause conflict so they ask what YOU did to cause it. They don’t want to acknowledge that such horrible people exist in the world so they put the onus on you.

I called people out for doing this and they admitted I was right but then got mad at me for pointing it out lol.

What jobs can I get with just the power plant certification?

So my thing is that I can’t get both the airframe and the powerplant at once because of financial restrictions so my idea was to get the powerplant first and then get a job as an overhaul specialist or something like that. And then use that job to save up money to then go back for my airframe.

Has anyone done this before? And is it even realistic? Idk if jobs will reject me if I don’t have the full a&p yet.

ELI5: Why are rent freezes considered bad?

I’m asking this after the rent freeze in NY yesterday and it seems like a good idea but I’m struggling to understand the other side of it. People said that it would in the end make things more expensive? How does that work?

Second guessing my MOS and worried I made a mistake - 89B

So I originally wanted a different MOS but none of the ones I wanted were available and I was running out of time and needed to ship out. So I chose 89B.

I’m worried I made a mistake though. I did some research and from what I’ve gathered, 89b’s don’t really do their jobs on drill days? And for the most part our job is done during the two week trainings? And that on drill days we just focus on readiness?

I’m just hoping somebody here can give me more of a clear picture of this speciality. Yes, I’ve researched already but I want a clearer picture of what I’m getting into.

How do I back out of the army reserves if I didn’t ship to basic yet.

So I’m having second thoughts and am wondering how I would go about pulling out of the reserves. I signed a contract at the recruiters office and swore in but I ship out to basic September 1st. I’m pretty sure backing out of the reserves is different from being discharged from DEPS but I’m not sure.

Can you back out before you ship to basic like you can in the DEPS program?

I’m just curious how that works. I’ve heard of people changing their minds and just not shipping off to basic but isn’t the process different in the reserves than it is in active duty?

How do you build thicker skin and not care about people’s opinions?

So I’ve discovered that I don’t have thick skin lmao. Peoples opinions bother me. For example, I’m (23F) joining the army and some people pity me bc I’m not married yet. See I don’t even want to be married but the pitying attitudes bother me.

I usually just distance myself from the people who do this but what if I get into a scenario where I can’t just avoid them? I’m not good at just letting things roll off my shoulders.

Time commitment of the reserves: How much of your time does the reserves actually take up?

I know the recruiters told me it’s only two days per month and two weeks training per year but I’m wondering what the real of it all is. How much time does the reserves take up realistically? Will it get in the way of my civilian life too much? I’m single and still in college so I don’t have a bunch of responsibilities yet so I’m assuming I’d be able to manage it well.

How to get over the fear that they’ll fight tooth and nail to take what I have?

So I’m finally at the point where I’m moving out and joining the army. I have my own place and I’m going to get my car with my basic money. I’m moving to another state and going to distance myself. I’m leaving in 4 months. I haven’t told them yet.

But I can’t get over this fear that they’ll find out and sabotage me. Or when I do leave, they’ll find a way to rope me back into their nonsense. It keeps me so tense these days that I can’t focus. I get so anxious and fearful about it.

Has anyone else been through this? How did you get over the fear? It’s like they’re hovering over my shoulder.

Getting my first car….Kind of don’t know what to do.

Hello, so I’m planning on getting my first car after basic training with the army and I really don’t know what to look for or what makes up a good starter car. I’ve been researching some and heard through the grapevine that some people suggest getting like a civic or an accord as a starter car that’s under 100k mileage.

I’m hoping you guys could give me some advice on what to look for in a first car. Or point me to some books or something.

Edit: and I should say that I have $18k saved up so I was hoping to get the car in cash? I thought that would be better than taking out a loan.

Anyone here an 89B?

I wanted to hear your opinions on the job. What’s the day to day like? Did it help you get a job in the civilian world? Etc etc.

Which MOS translates well into a civilian career?

I was thinking about choosing 25B and just aiming for a helpdesk position to start but from what I’ve heard, a lot of folks in the IT field are having a hard time rn.

Edit: I should be more specific, I’m looking for a job I can get while I’m in school. Not a career just yet. I was hoping I could leverage my work experience and training I get through the reserve to land a bit of a higher paying job so that I’m not stuck working in a warehouse.

People in the army reserves who regret joining, can you tell me why?

Hello, so I was thinking about joining the army reserves but lately I’ve been having second thoughts. Don’t have many people in my real life that I can talk to about this bc most of the people I know are active duty so I wanted to learn more about the negative side of the reserves. I asked my recruiter but of course they will be biased.
