Rank these upcoming soulslikes by how excited you are to play

  1. Mortal shell 2, I think everyone is probably going to have this one as number one after the demo. I never played the original but I genuinely am super stoked for this one.

  2. Valor mortis, gameplay wise I think this one looks interesting as I haven’t played the demo sadly but I think the story on this one could be very interesting, especially considering the time period.

  3. Lords of the fallen 2, I am currently working on the first one I think my biggest thing is I would like more complex bosses and more spectalor bosses , as well as the lamp mechanic to be quicker

  4. Beast of Reincarnarion I actually am suprised this is considered a soulslike? I ended up with stellar blade vibes but still interested.

  5. Duskbloods I’m interested to see it but I don’t really do pvp and it’s on switch 2.

I didn’t include phantom blade 0 or onimusha but those 2 I am really stoked for.

Honorable mention no rest for the wicked

Feel free to drop any other games or soulslikes I didn’t list

Remasters

I loved the demo and was thinking of getting the previous titles and had a few questions to see if it’s worth it.

First how outdated or clunky do the previous titles feel, I don’t mind a little jank but of course don’t want something that doesn’t feel good.

Second I know the titles are not souls likes but are known to be difficult, is this a game where I can over level if I hit a wall? For example I have beaten all the team ninja games and a lot of difficult games with the exception being Sekiro which I did not enjoy the gameplay or combat very much.

Difficulty game rankings by a gamer dad

I recently was listening to my kids talk about difficult games they are currently playing and decided to make my own list to see what other games other people have played that are crazy difficult for them.

  1. In my first place a kids game that isn’t a kids game cup head, easily the hardest game Iv played. To the point I had to tell my kid I am just not good enough I’m sorry lol a great game tho.

  2. Could be recency bias but Sekiro, I am not very fair into this one and will probably take a break as it’s genuinely one where idk if I will finish it. 10 hours in and I have beaten one boss lol

  3. Nioh 2 I actually found this game in the beginning crazy hard , it took a while but after beating everything and the DLCs it’s a difficult game that I love.

  4. Khazan the last berserker if you’re playing on the hardest difficulty , I lowered the difficulty and still loved the experience. This one has some great bosses , if you played when it first came out and ran into viper you could feel your life leaving lol

  5. I thought about putting Elden Ring in here, or even something recent like Saros but decided on Black Myth Wukong , and it’s mostly for the final bosses this one took me forever to beat. I’m looking right at you Supreme Inspector.

Honorable mentions: Wo Long because of the dlc final boss , Saros and grime 2, Elden Ring if ur including the dlc.

Indie Soulslikes

I am looking for some recs for lesser known Indie Soulslikes. I mostly play on Ps5 or my hand held Legion Go S steam edition.

Also has anyone tried Stonemachia on a handheld yet?

Thanks guys!

Side note I have beaten all the big titles and a few metroidvania soulslikes like Nine souls, grime 2 and the last faith

PlayStation state of play

I figured this would be a good thread to share any good deals of games you purchased and what your wanting to see reveals of or trailers for.

For me I ended up getting Sekiro for 29.99 and rise of ronin for 29.99. Not a huge haul since I have played almost all the exclusives at this point but I’m happy with the sales.

For the state of play of course we’re going to get a huge extended look at Wolverine which I’m interested in but I am hoping it’s better than spiderman 2 which didn’t blow me away.

I am expecting a trailer or reveal for a new god of war game I think there is a huge chance for this.

I am also sorta hoping we see something from fromsoft but more than likely we’ll see that at summerfest.

There is also a chance for a trailer of the DLC for Yotei probably still a year out but I would expect some time of news drop on that.

Feel free to share your thoughts or any deals you are doing or share what games you’re playing !

DS2 vs Demon Souls Remake

I recently just finished Dark Souls 2 Scholar version and I loved the art style, music and even some of the areas being just interesting to look at.

I know it’s been talked about a lot but I didn’t enjoy the cheap difficulty feel that the game has and the amount of Gank assaults it has. I understand the game has its pros and cons but am mostly curious how Demon Souls Remake stands.

  1. Does Demon Souls remake have the same annoying cheap feel to it with annoying enemies that auto track?

  2. How are the bosses? Iv heard they’re very finicky are they at least interesting to fight and atmospheric to look at?

  3. How does combat feel I know it’s a remake I never played the original, so unsure if it feels janky

  4. I know it has run backs which isn’t a huge deal how annoying are they?

I am pretty open to trying older games but unsure Il enjoy it if it feels like DS2

Thanks guys! Also feel free to share any other things I may want to know about the game I’m interested in your guys thoughts

Help decide what to play next

I have been playing a lot of team ninja games this year , so far I have beat and loved Nioh 3 and Nioh 2. Also liked Wo long and ninja gaiden 4, which has me looking at what should I play next.

My options are

Nioh 1 but unsure how outdated it feels or unbalanced which is probably my biggest concern. I played another older souls like and not sure I want another unbalanced game right away

Rise of ronin combat looks interesting even though graphics and overall menus look I guess outdated is the word I would use.

Strangers of paradise this one I don’t know very much about other than its final fantasy and Nioh combat.

I mostly care about fun bosses and combat. Which of these has the best combat and did you enjoy the most?

Saros and Returnal

I just finished Saros and loved it! Really engaging story and combat I loved all the bosses really except the priestess which wasn’t bad or anything just not my favorite.

I am thinking of trying Returnal and just mostly looking to get a fair view on it.

1: So in Saros I loved the bosses none of them felt BS and all had clear ways to dodge their attacks how is Returnal in this category?

2: Also in Returnal I know it’s different in the sense it’s a true rogue light with RNG on gear , can you save in the middle of a run or is it an all or nothing type thing?

3: How long would you say is each Biome? The man reason I’m asking is each biome is Saros felt not to long or not to short but the 7th biome Cathedral dragged on a lot especially with no shortcut to the boss. How is Returnal in this category?

I’m sorta trying to gauge the difficulty of Returnal with things in Saros I didn’t really care for. I don’t mind difficult games or anything but I also dont want a super frustrating experience either. Please feel free to share other things you think may help in my decision to try Returnal.

Games played as we reach the half point of the year

This year has seriously flew by and I wanted to share the games I have beaten/played this year so far and rank them: Feel free to share yours!

1: Nioh 3, this was actually my first Nioh game and I loved it! Actually the only second souls like game that I have played over a 100 of!

2: Saros I actually just finished this one, and I loved the combat a ton in this one and really found the story thought provoking and actually had me listening and reading most of everything. ( I may try returnal after a little break )

3: Nioh 2 I loved the middle and ending of the game , the beginning was super difficult for me but once I realized how much tonfas helped me I was off and I loved the DLCs.

4: Remnant 2 this game is just a lot of fun, the story is eh but I loved almost all the bosses and actually can confidently say they have the best puzzle bosses in souls like games

5: Khazan I think Khazan probably has the best boss roster consistency wise across all souls likes! I played on easy then normal after the updates. If you could beat this one hard your better then I lol

6: Wo Long is a really fun experience up until the last dlc, the ng plus and armor and weapon upgrading is kinda bad and it’s not balanced on NG or NG plus when picking stuff up. That being said besides the final dlc3 boss the game is fun

7: Ninja Gaiden 4 this was my first ninja Gaiden game it’s a lot of fun actually bosses are for the most part interested and the expansion or dlc combat encounters and bosses are well done.

8: Last Faith this was the first metroidvania I have been able to finish I actually really enjoyed the bosses and overall atmosphere of the game. Couldn’t really tell you much about the story sadly but worth it if u like Bloodborne

9: Code Vein honestly for its time it was maybe an okay game and I picked it up for like 5 bucks so it’s okay but not a huge fan. Combat is decent but everything else is just mediocre. I would love a vampire souls game that is more visceral and grotesque I think. I love anime but yeah not a fan of the story sadly

I won’t rank the Diablo 4 expansion lord of hatred but I knocked that out as well and really enjoyed my time with it.

Next on my list to finish is Crimson Desert and probably dark souls 2

I have played a lot of different souls likes and have a few that are left that interest me.

Nioh 1: I have beaten all the other Nioh games including wo long and enjoyed all of them. Is Nioh 1 worth a play through as well?

Dark souls 2: I have beaten dark souls 3 and Elden ring already and mostly see a lot of pros and cons for dark souls 2. Also is the dlc any good?

Demon Souls remake: this one and dark souls 2 I have heard the run backs are awful so that’s sorta my biggest hesitation.

Code vein 2: I played the first and it was decent but I have heard a lot of negatives regarding this one including a horrible open world. Hopefully the boss fights are good?

Which one of these would you play first or in what order?
