Fuse fitted Gas smart meter today but left gas boiler not working

Old 1970s boiler & provides my elderly parents property underfloor heating. Fuse fitter was totally unfamiliar with boiler and left advising the pilot light was working albeit we discovered later that the boiler does not fire up.

Fuse are saying that the boiler is not their responsibility and to contact a private heating engineer.

Am back over at parents tomorrow and was wondering how best to proceed.

Fuse fitted gas smart meter today but not connected to comms

Eon currently do the electric smets 2.

The Fuse fitter has fitted the gas meter unit only but done no Comms works at all.

What do fuse need to do in terms of connection. IE can they connect via the eon hub built into the elec meter or do they need to run there own Comms unit off the fuse board.

Thanks

update found the gas connected to hub next day.....all done remotely.

Still so arrid and dry in essex and south east

Hasn't rained properly in months here..did get some overnight albeit a dribble in reality..it's so dry it basically evaporated on impact you would not know it rained. Very dusty arrid conditions + hosepipe ban. New cracks developing in building structures. Everywhere weetabix lawns and fields. Seeing early leaf fall already.

Ride out the high Gas variable rate or consider fix?

Appreciate fix will give me financial certainty but wondering if best to ride out on the variable rather than a high fix avoiding any cancellation fees. Tho the current fuse fixed offer a far cheaper standing charge.

Current octo variable 7.26p with 28.57p standing charge

Looking at fuse 7.05p 16p standing charge fix 18 months.

btw am fairly low user 2700kwh gas pa

Advice appreciated

Agile summer doldrums any end in sight or is this the new summer norm?

Last summer was so much better in comparison but appreciate heatwaves and geopolitical issues have been taking there toll.

How do we see things panning out as this is particularly bad for us users with no solar/ battery? Time to consider changing tariff ie eon smart saver etc?

How are rivers in the south east still flowing what with no rain in months?

Yes the river levels have dropped but not significantly. There are naturally occurring springs in some instances as a source but am wondering if it is currently treated sewerage from water treatment plants keeping rivers flowing what with no rain in months?

Thanks

Considering switching to freephase....which gas product ?

Am currently octo agile (no solar /battery /ev) low user & can easily avoid peak so freephase is looking good for me. Tho wondering what gas product to switch to (low user) also currently with octo on standard variable.

Thanks

Hosepipe ban (UK) is detailing car using watering can doable?

Parts of UK are now in drought & water companies have imposed bans on domestic customers using hosepipe for washing cars.

Are those affected detailing at home with watering cans or time to go to the car wash?

E-scooters getting very poor press in UK lately🙁

Noticed this worrying UK news trend over last few months with e-scooters getting the brunt of negative news stories compared to other forms of transport.

Owners now appear to be the scape goat for accidents, house fires & antisocial behaviour😥

With the way things are going can't see private escooters getting any where near being legalised (am someone who sees the great benefits, rides responsibly & happy too wear protection /insure if necessary)

It's double standards that the UK councils allow hire companies to operate yet privately it's illegal. Such an excellent form of transport when ridden responsibly

Will snow foam work on unprepared vehicles

Have a new to me 7 year old car since may but am yet to detail with clay bar/ polish/ wax due to conditions with ongoing heatwaves.

The car on the face of it looks "ok" but the bodywork feels rough almost sticky to the touch with lots of detritus build up over the years.

Recently gave it it's 2nd bucket wash but this time used newly acquired turtlewax snow foam with pressure washer cannon but felt the snow despite applying thickly nicely/ leaving a few mins failed to shift much of anything.....made no difference to just blowing over with the pressure washer.

Am guessing will see better results from the snow foam once the car is fully detailed giving the snow foam a better chance to remove muck from a slicker surface?
