(Repeats sub-to-sub please refrain from being your stick-in-mud selves I know from the other sub!)

Let's at least try to get this down to 14 songs (a few days from now) before these posts stop. I want to get it down to one song for fun, but I doubt people will have any fun when it's down to Dear Prudence, Back In The U.S.S.R., While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Blackbird, and probably Helter Skelter or something. But let's at least have fun up to that point!

Straight men of this sub: if a guy looked like this mannequin, would you date/anything else him

I'm straight but I dunno...

(this is both a joke post and an actual post)

There goes the other Honey Pie. What next? (Please stop being sticks in the mud and just have fun arguing your point over which ones deserve to be kept and which to get rid of)

Do I even need this body text anymore?

Long, Long, Long has been eliminated. What next. (Please have fun, please don't be sticks-in-the-mud)

I think you know the drill by now!

Interesting Recent disovery

So I recently, since the upload of the performance of All You Need Is Love on YouTube, I figured out that the audio was simply the 2015 mix and not the original 1967 audio. Now of course that's not a problem, except a few modifications were made in studio for final release.

This posed a question to me, what WAS the original audio like. The thing that gave it away to me was John's vocals being Double-Tracked. I have no idea whether it was real or false double-tracking, (For those who don't know, double-tracked vocals are when you record two nearly identical vocal lines for a song (or any part for that matter) separately, while false is simply taking the single recorded line and delaying it by a bit then usually layering it directly over the vocal track, creating the illusion of double-tracking while in reality it's single tracked) but that doesn't really matter. The thing is on the original broadcast it would have been single-tracked not double-tracked, so I went tracking down the original audio.

Now, I don't have Disney+, so keep that in mind.

So, for the last couple of days, I've been looking for the original recording audio from the Our World broadcast. I've reached out to one source who has a version of it up, and a download for it uncut (because The Beatles don't like YouTube releases of their stuff not released from them) but he had replaced the segment of All You Need Is Love with a cleaner version, however, using the finished studio version audio and not the audio from the Our World broadcast. This was yesterday I hope for a response, but I don't really think I'll get one.

There are a couple incomplete (or GARBAGE quality) sources you can find on YouTube, but one is only the opening and closing and the other is like a 2004 handheld camera recording and I also think it actually uses the studio mono version, though I can't really tell because the quality is SO bad.

So then today I decided to check out the Anthology video. I had to go to Internet Archive and find an old DVD rip, but I discovered something. It's a stereo mix, but it seems NOT be have double-tracked vocals, and so that SEEMS to be the more complete version. I also don't have the old Anthology DVDs myself. (sad)

However, at least as part of the TV episode, All You Need Is Love is cut off a the end, meaning that it doesn't fully output the original audio. It does however feel MUCH rawer than the studio version. The clicks from John opening his mouth are even more clear. So do you you know where a more complete version of this audio could be? Because while it's not 100% identical to the original audio, which was mono and would also only have probably 15khz worth of sound quality, (30khz digital, proper transfer would be 32khz) Even Paul's "All together now, everybody" doesn't have the effects presented on the studio version. This was kind of incredible for me, but the problem is that before it fades out, it cuts back into interviews, first over the audio, then cutting out the audio altogether. (though I think that the audio is allowed to fade out, but it's still layered together.)

What are your opinions on this discovery. Are you interested, are you curious, do you even care?

Also, does Anthology 2025 have the 2015 mix audio or the Anthology mix audio?

Anybody notice that they fixed the All You Need Is Love album

It started originally as the 2009 remasters, did anybody else notice that they fixed it to the best ones on Spotify, including the Remixes where available and ONLY using the 2009 remasters when it hasn't been remastered since?

Edit: Though, depending on how you look at it, it is either fortunate or unfortunate that they changed Eight Days A Week from Take 5 to the 2023 mix, because I feel like something like a specific out-take like that needs more highlighted.

Edit 2: Also they switched out the Andy White version of Love Me Do for the 2023 mix of the Ringo version. As well as switching out the 2009 Mono remasters of some songs for the Stereo mixes. Would using the 2015 Mono remasters have been better?

I've got a question for you, ish

So, I don't really know where to ask this and I asked r/lostredditor and promptly never got a response, so I'm posting this here.

I want to start getting my foot in the door of sound mixing, and right now, I just want to try my hand at it.

Basically, I'd like to try my hand at mixing some music. I don't really have much equipment but I'd like to see how I well I can do it, or if it's not good at all.

I'm asking you all because I sometimes will see covers here and that could be a good place for me to start.

If you're wondering, I don't want any money, credit, anything, I just want to try my hand at actual mixing stuff.

If you can find me somewhere better to post this, PLEASE direct me there.

Thanks!

Sooo... aparently you can be offended by my opinion but I can't be offended by yours?

I just got [Can't say that here] from r/mildyinfuriating for stating a matter of opinion, and a matter of fact.

The reason I'm posting this here is because it goes further than that. I could EASILY see this happening in real life. So much for equal rights.

(This post is so getting removed and I am SO getting [Again, can't say that here])

Where should I ask this

So, I'm trying to try my hand at some mastering and mixing of some music, but I don't really know where to start, and so I want to ask for some music to try my hand on, but I don't know who or where to ask. (I know my explanation might not make the most sense, but I'm bad with words)

Should I ask specific music type subreddits, or what?

Comparison of frequencies of original vinyl transfer VS remastered original master of SABB

This is in Audacity. The top is the original Vinyl transfer, the bottom is the remastered. Both are running at 96 KHz from the Starless Boxed Set Blu-ray.

For those who don't exactly understand Spectrograms, It's basically the closer to the top the higher the frequency. It is worth a note that about just lower than the cutoff point of the bottom one is the "approximate" peak of human hearing (though realistically humans hearing has no definite cutoff).

The Vinyl has significantly higher frequencies, HOWEVER, you can see it hitting the top and jumping, and that actually has to do with the one defect of Stereo Vinyl, the center doesn't really exist. Now, technically, in anything 2 tracked, the center is actually just something that is in both tracks, but it's worse on Stereo Vinyl. It also has to do with some vibrational issues that are hard to really break down, but basically ignore the jumping frequencies. But still, they frequencies go higher than the digitally remastered master tape. The Remaster has an almost boxed-off frequency cutoff, while the Vinyl is freer and jumps to much higher points than the remaster. Now, some of that is how the vinyl technically runs eeever so slightly faster, but that doesn't change too much, especially not to the boxyness of it.

Now, the 2011 remix does have the same boxed-off look to it, except on the drums, which do seem to jump much higher, but that confuses things more, why does it box off like that on everything except the drums.

Now some of the capping has to do with the fact that it was recorded at 15ips rather than how like The Beatles tended to record at 30ips, so the remixes have far higher frequencies than the original 15ips master tapes.

However, that just doesn't change that the Vinyl transfer just sounds more vibrant. Could somebody please explain that to me?

Edit Additive: It's worth noting this is the end of Fracture.

Edit 2: I think I figured something out. I think the original tapes might have had something happen to them over the years, because if you look at the Vinyl Transfer versus the Remaster, at a lot of softer points (Trio's the BIG one) the Remaster is fair noisier.

Edit 3: I'VE HAD IT EXPLAINED! It's a upsample of the CD master apparently. Also, the noise being less on Trio actually has to do with how they transferred it, because I think it was transferred using RCA and not XLR, which causes some... strange noises.

Am I the only one who hates the DK64 Widescreen mode?

Like, especially on Switch Online, they could have easily adjusted a couple of things to just bring it into the top and bottom of the screen, not to even mention the wide black bars that are on the sides of the screen, and also everything just looks and feels bad in widescreen, I can only play it in 4:3.
