Let's discuss, who was the best lyric writer for King Crimson

Was it:

Peter Sinfield

Richard Palmer-James

John Wetton (as far as I'm aware the only lyrics he wrote that were performed in studio was One More Red Nightmare)

Adrian Belew

Margaret Belew (writer of Two Hands)

Tony Levin (writer of The King Crimson Barber Shop)

Robert Fripp (writer of the words on Coda: Marine 475)

Jakko Jakszyk

Doctor Diamond is such an underrated great song.

No matter how many times I listen to it, I always find myself saying "It's such a shame this never went to studio", and frankly, it's a shame that the only Multitrack recording we have of it is from one of it's worst performances, and also one of the last times they played it. I get the fact that Wetton had to sing faster than One More Red Nightmare on the first two verses, but it was just such a good song that I could have looked past it. What is probably the truest reason why it never went to Studio is it was still unfinished during the sessions for SABB, and Cross wasn't with King Crimson anymore when it came to Red, so either they'd have to figure out something alternate to Cross's violin playing, which while this was done for Starless, I don't think it would have worked as well for Doctor Diamond.

There's very little video of them playing it, but what little there is, I have edited together here. I have slightly blown out the contrast of the asianonetap video because, without that, the concert is barely visible at all.

What's your opinion of Doctor Diamond? Is it good? Is it actually terrible? What is the best performance in your opinion (Mainz is not an option here, unless that's the only version you've heard). I think possibly their best performance is actually Richards Club, do you agree?

Does anybody know anything more about the person who found the thought to be Chesterfield footage from 1969?

I just recently contacted Alex Mundy about it, because I rediscovered this post from 2 years ago from a [deleted] user talking about how somebody found some footage of King Crimson at Chesterfield in 1969. They talked about how they livestreamed it once, but after, because of possible copyright problems, weren't again, and would be sending it to DGM.

2 years later, nothing. Not even DGM processing it, as proved by Alex Mundy, who said that he'd heard nothing about it. (The other part was just clarification because I'd forgotten who it was that GG&F supported on radio in 1968.)

The link to the pictures of the King Crimson performance no longer works, and, for GG&F, though DGM has done nothing with it, the videos of it are still available on YouTube, so that's not a problem.

It's sad to see that said collector who had it hasn't yet sent it in, OR maybe its that, in fact, somebody at DGM (who knows who, Singelton, Fripp, any number of other people) have kept it hidden for one reason or another.

If anybody know who this collector is, could you please contact them and ask for the footage to either:

1: Be uploaded to the internet. or,

2: Send it into DGM.

Thanks!

Could somebody help me as to why the Duck Soup Blu-ray sounds like this?

At this point, for the rest of the movie, the sound becomes unbearably distorted. I remember the old DVD didn't sound this way, so why does the blu-ray? I don't know if you're the right people to ask, but you're who came to mind that may be able to help.

Can somebody explain something to me

What was the idea behind in the 1973/74 lineup of King Crimson, when performing live, to change the second verse of Easy Money? Like, why, because when they were still performing with Muir it was the album's Palmer-James lyrics, but for some reason it was changed for touring. As far as I'm aware, after that, until they stopped touring, the only time they performed the original lyrics again was on The Midnight Special, because they "Touring" lyrics would not pass on TV.
