Is it possible to put something on a head in that way that will cause long-lasting (for multiple days at least) or even never ending migraines? [Also, TW, I think?]

I'm writing a sci-fi type of setting with a villain that tortures people. One of the ways to do it is by tying the victim up and putting a metal thingy on their head, then simply leaving them in a lonely room for a couple of days, so it will cause never-ending migraine as a part of a torture. At least that's my concept, and preferably something simply squeezing or piercing, but if that's not possible, then I guess I'll simply come up with some chemical or drug.

I know there's a difference between tension headaches and migraines, but from what my research says, migraines are usually the worsened headache that causes alongside pain nausea, and sensitivity to light and smell. This is what I'm primary aiming for, the worst.

I tried to research what can cause something like this, even asked AI (which didn't give me an answer by the way, since it was too disturbing apparently, hahah), but didn't find much anything and I'm not really sure where to look up these kinds of things, because the first dozen of websites seem useless.

Also, sorry if the tag is wrong, I don't even know what that counts as, haha 😅

What are your thoughts on this new Modrinth AI policy?

On one hand, I understand the want for transparency and that mods should not be entirely AI generated, since this can prevent the platform from being flooded with poorly made mods that are not even checked once before publishing. On the other, I think any fellow Minecrafters, especially in Horror space, know the issues with many Minecraft mods already. Majority of them are just rip-offs of more popular mods, already poorly made, often have stolen characters from other horror projects, have pretty boring and repetitive gameplay, etc. So the question rises itself, what's even the logic behind it, if the platform is already filled with poor and even stolen content and nothing is done about it? Even applying my logic, it doesn't make sense. How is AI content different from that? Poorly made content is poorly made content, regardless.

Also, I am a bit confused on 6.2 a. Does it really matter whether AI is used for that or no? Most of the time pictures there do not really reflect what's truly in the mod and are just done for visual aspect. It doesn't change nor add much anything to the mods, so why is AI prohibited exactly there?

This new policy is just confusing to me and I have mixed feelings about it, so what are your thoughts?

Anyone else feels discouraged from creating, because they feel like their art isn't unique enough? How do you deal with it?

I've been really struggling with this recently. I have scrolled on Pinterest and Reddit and saw countless of cool projects, stories and characters. I always think "wow, that is so cool and unique, I feel so inspired", but I also see something similar to my character designs or stories and I feel... I don't know, like I'm copying everyone and that I can't come up with something separate from other things. I know that nothing can be new, that everyone already thought and created something similar, but something in my head just tells me "why bother if something like this already exists?", and I just feel so discouraged. I also constantly see people comparing projects to already existing ones, and it just fuels it. I'm also afraid that if I will post something, it will be count as plagiarism or people will call me a copycat.

I just don't know how to deal with this. On one hand, I know I shouldn't care and just do it for myself, but on the other, these thoughts and realizations just drag me down. So, what are some of your methods of dealing with that? How do you keep being motivated?

How long did it take for y'all to get the cyan core??

I've been trying to get it for the past 4-5 days, encountering dozens of volthearts, but all it gives me is surge crystals. I play on geared 6 with total of around 320% looting. I don't know what's happening, it says % of dropping it is 7.2, but it feels like 0.000000072. I think I'm just super unlucky, but I wanted to hear your experiences because I'm kind of tired 😭😭

Is there a way to make Spooklementary shaders brighter in darker parts?

I really like the vibe of this shader, but the problem is, I can't see anything in the caves or even in my properly lit builds, unless holding a torch. I tried to change settings in the shader and download some brightness increasing resoucepacks, but nothing seems to work. I think you can change it somehow in the files, but can anyone give a guide how to do that? I'm kind of scared to break anything, haha. Thanks!

[Vent] My sibling was baptized recently... It was literally like watching a cult ritual and I still remember their sobbing, and it just makes me despite religions even more.

My sibling is only around 2 months old. It has been discussed with my parents previously, but they were firm about baptizing them. I asked them why and that it's not necessary, because I believe they should choose who they want to be on their own when they will grow up. Parents simply told me that "they need God to protect them". I couldn't argue with them, they didn't listen, and I was forced to attend as a family member.

We went to church, early in the morning. There were also friends of my parents with their own children. I was uncomfortable and silent all the time, while almost everyone else cheerfully talked. When ceremony began, the priest began to sing and appointed some of the adults as godparents of my sibling. They repeated swears 3 times, something about accepting Jesus and letting him in. Then we were supposed to follow him and sit at the front rows. After that, they began to baptize my sibling by undressing fully, not even with a diaper, and putting them in water in this giant cup... And just jesus fucking christ, they began to cry so loud because they have been so scared, the priest almost threw them in the water, I saw it. I was just horrified, while almost no one else bat an eye, except for my mother for a little while. It took maybe 5 minutes to just calm them down, and they were allowed to put only diaper on after drying, before the ceremony continued. They circled the table with this cup around 3-5 times while holding my sibling, then I don't really remember, but they made some swears after again, the priest did blessing gesture on my sibling with some wet sponge, stressing them out even more, then they put a cross on them and only then it finally ended.

I'm still recovering from that experience and can't just forget it, and I'm in my late teenage years and I don't think I'm usually easily affected. My sibling was hungry and tired from all the cries, they fell asleep almost instantly, while usually they play and smile or look around curiously. I just feel so sad for them and children that were invited to witness it, and how this is presented as normal to them. I hate religion so fucking much, it's literally just a giant cult that no one does shit about. I just don't understand how can you force a 2-month old baby to live through something so stressful and even thank the abuser for that, and then friends of my parents even joked that my sibling was calmer than their own children... Just what a joke our society is. I don't understand how that is still legal and allowed and seen as "sacred".

Anyone wants to share some toxic/angst dynamics/tropes that are not just age gaps?

Don't get me wrong, liking age gap is totally okay and I enjoy it myself sometimes, it's just one of the most popular tropes and I'd want to hear something new.

My personal would be:

  • abuser x abuser,
  • yandere x yandere,
  • obsessed x abuser,
  • obsessed/yandere/simply in love x exploiting it,
  • manipulative x even more manipulative,
  • anger issues x antisocial,
  • demanding attention/physical proximity x never giving it,
  • having clear boundaries x not respecting them,
  • always arguing/hating each other, but somehow still together,
  • abuser x hating it at first, but slowly embracing and starting to enjoy.

Sorry if some of these are similar, I just view them as different, and sorry if it should be marked as NSFW or spoiler, I will change that if necessary. So, what are some of your dynamics?

It's a rant, but I think it's sad how many subreddits got ruined for me because of the anti-AI rule, or how I must simply accept it out of lack of choice.

I am overall neutral and can understand the anti-AI rule in certain circumstances and when people are adequate about it, but the amount of times I saw anti-AI rule in subreddits completely unrelated to AI, especially in very niche subreddits, where people didn't even post AI images to begin with, just makes me sad, and the fact that you can't even create a separate subreddit, because of how little active people there are already, so there's really no point in a new one.

It just feels really forced and unnecessary. I really don't understand why people care so much, especially when it goes something along lines "No low-effort posts, this includes AI" and then they allow literally only title posts or images that look like they were drawn by a 3-year old. It's just so hypocritic, and you need to tolerate it because this is the only somewhat active community, and you will be banned for confronting the mods.

I really just wish that these anti-AI mods weren't that obsessed with AI and didn't mention it where it's just unnecessary. It doesn't even attract other people who would contribute something related to the subreddit, maximum what they will say is something like "W mods" and then will forget about the subreddit, so nothing will change. I just don't get these people.

Any xenogenders who are 20+ years old, can you share your experiences? [Possible TW and venting]

I'm around 20 years old myself, and only now I realized that I might be xenogender, and while I fully realize that identity is not based on age and is not always "just a phase", I noticed that majority of xenogenders are teenagers, and I don't know why it makes me feel a bit weird and like I'm "too old" to identify as such. Especially when you constantly see media where people hate xenogenders, think that they are cringe, live in an environment where people do not understand them and make jokes about them... I just don't know, maybe it's just my internal thing and identity crisis as I'm only figuring things out, and I know it's silly, but I feel scared in a way to accept and live as this new identity. I just can't stop thinking that I'm too old for this and I don't know what to do about it.

I honestly don't know what I want from this post, maybe just to calm down my mind, but I guess connecting and possibly relating with other people's experiences will help me a bit. And I'm sorry if that is disrespectful in any way or doesn't fit the sub, I genuinely mean no harm and just want to hear other people's experiences and want to figure out my own things.

How can people be both anti-AI and robotkin/robotsexual?...

I noticed this thing while scrolling on Pinterest, that many people who identify as robotkins and robotsexuals are for some reason against gen AI, and I was just wondering if anyone can explain to me how that works. Like, what do these people stand for? I just can't comprehend it. How can you identify with a thing you are advocating against? Is this something akin to internal self-hatred, like how some homosexual/trans people are homophobic/transphobic (sorry if the example is overstretched, I'm just trying to understand this)? Can anyone explain this to me? It doesn't make sense at all for me and why so many people seem to be like this.

I just want anyone to relate and share their experience not to feel so lonely.

My parents always tell me how ugly I will be. They tell me I'm fat. They tell me I'm lazy. They tell me I have a bad posture. They tell me my face will be ugly if I will not stop picking at my pimples, even though they itch and heal pretty well after and never left scars. They tell me my makeup is flawed. They tell me my clothes are dirty and I look "homeless". They tell me I stink because apparently I do not go out of my room that often, even though I walk for about an hour every day, take the shower daily and wear deodorant. They tell me no one will ever love me because of how ugly I will be. They always compare me to random people that in their opinion look "ugly" and they always grumble about those who apparently do not look appealing to them, such as actors in movies, hell, even random people passing by on the street just minding their business.

But I want to be ugly. I want to be flawed. I want to be disgusting. I want to be ugly just to spite them. Just to defy the stupid rules of society and their expectations. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I wish I could cut my face just so it will heal in an ugly way and so it will scare everyone away, including them. So they will be ashamed to admit I'm their offspring. I'm so tired of constant judgement. They keep destroying my self-esteem, to the point where I don't want to even look human. I often have thoughts about just mutilating my skin everywhere, including face and private parts, and I'm afraid that some day I will actually snap. But for now, my arms and legs work, but they are constantly hidden and I can't show this ugliness to the world and it eats me from within. I want more. And it's scary, but that's what I crave.

I just want to be myself. I want to accept the ugliness of being human, of being average, of being born the way I am. But I want to make it worse. Just to spite everyone. Just so they will flinch from even looking at me and will be too scared to say a word about my appearance. And leave me finally alone. Or maybe accept me as I am, because I don't think I ever will and I would constantly want to be uglier.
