(Hated Trope) A character, or maybe even an entire show, that only exists so the creator can live out their own personal power fantasy

After Life - Ricky Gervais plays a rude, obnoxious person (Tony) that constantly makes everyone's lives worse, yet is told by every character how amazing and nice he is at every opportunity, despite him being awful all the time. The character just walks around giving Ricky's personal opinions, often completely unrelated to anything else in the show, and he always comes out on top of every situation or argument.

Alley Cats - Ricky Gervais again plays a rude, obnoxious person cat that has essentially no redeeming qualities, yet is a beloved leader of the pack who everyone constantly says is brilliant for no discernible reason. His character (Gus) is also just an animated mouthpiece for him to say whatever random opinions he has, no matter how unrelated to the show they are. Again, always "wins" every argument or conflict he is involved in.

Going to See “The Mad King Tonight”… here are some questions for you.

Going to see the new play tonight in my hometown of Stratford Upon Avon.

What are your feelings, thoughts and hopes for the play?

Have the delays and cancellations put you off?

Have you seen it? Are you going to see it?

I’m excited but daunted by the run time.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Pete

Players should be able to play for multiple national teams as long as they have a blood or birth connection

Players shouldn’t be beholden to one national team for the rest of their lives after one competitive cap. They should be able to play for any team they have a blood or birth connection to.

This would strengthen weaker teams and stop the fuss over debut caps.

EDIT - people are correctly saying that it’s not as rigid as I’m making out.

To be clear - I think you should be able to play 100 times for Spain and then if you like play the 10 times for Trinidad and Tobago because your gran was born there. Or play 20 times for Spain, once for Trinidad and then 20 more times for Spain. It should be unregulated. It’s YOUR choice, not some pencil pusher from FIFA.

Self Assessment Repayment

I’ve been waiting for this for two months now. When I call them they just tell me to wait.

Is anyone else in the same boat? Does anyone have any tips to speed the process along?

Thanks.

Series 6 lacking something?

Is it the lack of Hattie? Not being on Red Dwarf? Or something else?

On my current watch through I really notice the show start to become a parody of itself and lack the authenticity of previous series.

Can anyone explain it succinctly to a lowly third technician like me?

Young Adult Book About A School Exchange (80s or early 90s)

I remember reading a book in about 1994 about school kids.

I think the main character was a boy. Foreign kids come from Europe. I remember them talking about the common market which I didn’t know at the time.

I think the end is when the boy finally kisses the foreign girl he likes before finding out she has kissed several other boys that evening too.

Can anyone help?
