Hi y'all can I please get your advice? My brother in law was supposed to build me some custom furniture piece for my condo, but he and my sister are getting divorced... 😅 I've never hired a woodworker or a cabinet maker, so I'm wondering what are the rules and etiquette when hiring someone and giving them a project. I'm a graphic designer by trade, so I'm used to writing detailed briefs and giving visual directions. I have a very clear aesthetic and functionality in mind, for instance there's an IKEA dresser that I adore, but it's not the right size for my space. Can I give style directions for having these type of furniture made? I don't want to insult someone by asking them to redo a piece of furniture that already exists. I also have fragrance allergies so the glues and wood finishes used are gonna matter a lot, when should this be discussed? Do cabinet makers usually have a portfolio I can go through to see their work pieces and style like an interior designers? What's the usual process for these projects? Thanks for your help!

Hi y'all, has there been any recent major changes to Google Analytics, like in the past couple of months? I've set up a GA account for many years, and added two more websites to get data tracked earlier this year. I've tried logging back in and it's like I've never registered to GA, even if I can see the GA key in the backend of the websites I've designed...? I haven't seen any GA log in tutorial that helped, it's almost as if my GA account got deleted somehow? I wonder if anyone else had a similar issue? Thanks for your help!

Hi y'all, my allergist has prescribed me some Ketotifen to help with my allergic reactions to fragrances and CS. While I get it's more an MCAS approach, and conditions can overlap; I'm curious if anyone with MCS/frangrance allergies gave it a try and what the journey has been like for you? I've been looking into the MCAS sub reddit, but so far no mention of fragrances reactions in the stories. Thanks!

Hi all, has anyone purchased new furniture from Canadian company Article (article dot com)? I'm in dire need of new furniture pieces, and want to avoid cheap pieces that won't last in time. I used to buy antiques, but it's not possible anymore with my fragrance allergies. And I react also to the chemicals IKEA uses in their furniture. Did anyone bought furniture from them like armoires, bookcases, dresser etc) and how did it go with your sensitivity? Thanks!

Hi all, I'm very new to the art world and I've attended a couple of galerie exhibition opening nights. While it was a lot of fun, I felt mostly out of place as it felt like it was small circles of people that more or less all knew one another and I didn't quite know how to act, so I just quietly admired the artists work. I had the privilege to speak to some artists directly, some of them I knew a little of their background, and some were completely new to me. I didn't quite know how to make up a conversation with these artists, and I wonder if you had any type of pointers for a fellow introvert?

Like I asked how they liked the city, and what was their favorite piece of the exhibit. I also asked about their mediums, but then I ran out of ideas for questions and the convo fizzled out. I'm the type of person who listen to artists talk about mediums, materials and technique all day, but I don't want to seem like I'm prying into their technique either as I dabbled into art a little myself. Like the small talk I am doing ok, but I'd like to have deep and meaningful talks with artists when it's possible and they are receptive. I also understand it's an exhibition and they have lots of PR to do as well, so I want to be respectful of their time. Thanks for your help 🙂

Hi y'all, I'm wondering what are your tips for staying safe with the insane use of AI these days. My last experience with the apps wasn't that long ago, but it AI was so less commonly used. I am unable to join groups and meet people IRL as a first point of connection unfortunately, so dating apps it is.

What we can do to protect ourselves while there's so much AI everywhere? Like how do you safely browse on the apps themselves? People are using AI for writing their profile and editing pictures, how can we filter out the fake accounts, besides the obviously too polished profiles? I came across this great tips of jumping on a phone call or video call before going to meet the person IRL for the first time, but it seems kinda limiting also with the use of deep fakes.

I also ask for a proof of STIs testing when things were going well and moving along, and now I don't even know if I can trust these anymore... I'm so very confused, how are you ladies navigating all of this? Thanks for your help!

Hi all, has anyone used some clip velcro rollers to give volume to their roots or bangs? I'm adding a picture below as there was a lot of different types of rollers at my local korean grocery store.

While I really like how easy they are and how I can go around my routine while they are in safely in place, they hurt sooooo bad when I take them off 🥲 It's like the velcro is super strong, and I even had a few precious hair ripped out in the process 😰 I've used them to curl my bangs, so the entire lenght of bangs wrapped around the rollers. Dry hair or wet hair gave the same result, the hair gets pulled so much it's hard to take the rollers off. I'm wondering what's the issue here? Is it my hair type since this product is designed for asian hair? I have bigger rollers for my ponytail from the same company and there's no issue at all, it's so weird I don't get it.

Hi all, wondering what's the overall experience that peeps with chronic illnesses encountered while meeting with dieticians? For context, I have a couple of illnesses and so far I haven't encountered a dietician that could actually get me some proper help (in Canada). They go into general nutrition tips like protein, sugar, starch and legume ratios, suggest a couple of different diets that didn't help and made me even sicker. And when I mention the restrictions I have due to medication interaction, they are at loss for words. After my third try with a different nutritionist, I wonder if it's just not a thing to be specialized in nutrition and chronic illness? Even if I mention my conditions before getting matched with a dietician (IBS, insuline resistance, Hashimoto, MCAS), I got told they indeed they do help treat those conditions. But then in the actual seances, I just to get told to eat a low food map diet, basically, and when that doesn't work they say that is all they can do for me. Was I just unlucky, or do dieticians just don't study nutritional deficiencies caused by various chronic illnesses? Should I give it another try or that's all the type of help that they can provide? Hi all, I am picking up photography as a beginner and my cousin gifted me their old camera. It's surprisingly heavy compared to my old camera, so I figured having a neck strap would help relieve some of the weight while I was shooting outside. But it resulted in a lot of neck pain and migraines and I have been scolded by my physio though lol, hurray for neck issues and EDS 😅

Any fellow photographers in a similar situation? What type of gear and brand would you recommend to help out in this case? I unfortunately don't have the budget to go shop for a lighter camera at the moment. Thanks y'all!

Hi guys, wondering what has been your experience with leaving exposed LED RGBIC and cleaning them up? I bought a set of Govee LED RGBIC because I needed to cut them to length for under my armoire in the entryway, and I thought they had some type of rubbery finish but they don't. It's really just the exposed circuits and lights. I don't have a way to add covers to them since it's under a vintage piece of furniture. Did you run into any issues with dust getting on the circuits? Or would it be better to change LED strip models? Thanks for your help!

Hi all, can you help me figure out what's the point of a stress test please? After reading about the POTS/EDS/MCAS trifecta, I'm starting my EDS investigations with my GP, as it would connect a lot of the missing dots. I got a referral for a cardiac stress test as tachycardia is suspected. I've seen a lot of posts here about how people reacted badly to the stickers for the stress test. After consulting with the cardiology clinic they told me they would install 11 of them (....!!!), and don't have a hypoallergenic version availible. For the life of me, I can't understand why they need to place so many of them, and sand up your skin as well in the process...?!

I've been terribly sick the past couple of months, I know my body can't handle an allergic reaction and treating 11 sores on my skin for weeks on end just for the sake of a 20 minutes test. I'm wondering what is the point of the stress test, if some of you were able to get the same data through a less ''invasive'' test and what came out of these. When I asked the nurse at the clinic, she just dismissed the allergic reaction saying ''everyone has sensitive skin'', so not much support on this side. I was suggested to get a holter monitor, but with fragrances allergies and MCS, it's not a test that I'd want to persue. Are there any other options? Thanks all!

Hi all, wondering if any fellow Canadians were able to get an official MCS diagnosis and what was it's impacts for you? It is a recognized disability here fortunately, and I wonder if getting an official diagnosis has made things simpler; like to be able to get financial support from the government and accommodations as at work and in health clinics. I've had unfortunately too many instances where I got refused as a patient in health clinics when I called to inform them of my allergies to perfumes, fragrances and chemical smells. Also spoke to two allergists already and they can't give me a MCS diagnosis as they can't physically test for it, so the conversation just ends there. I am based in Quebec. Thanks for your help :)

Hi y'all, I wonder if anyone knows of local fragrance free meeting groups? I live in the Montreal (QC) area and I'm looking to meet people organically in open spaces like parks, and I can't seem to find any FF or CS groups. Google search unfortunately redirects to fragrance & perfume loving groups, just what we need /s. It affects so many of us, there must be a group somewhere, no? Otherwise how do you go around to meet people? I've tried going on apps to meet people online before IRL but it's so much education to tell people about this condition, it's too energy consuming and I gave up. Appreciate any advice and ressources, thanks!

Hi all, I wonder if any other woman had similar issues? Back story : got diagnosed with Hashi 2 years ago, so got put on synthroid. TSH levels went down, so my dosage has remained the same since then. But ever since I started taking the medication, I've had random heart palpitations, chest pain, and issues with my periods as in they almost stopped (and I'm too young for menopause). When I brought this to my doctor, the symptoms got dismissed, saying it was the adjustment to the medication. 2 years later, the symptoms are always there, and now getting even more intense. I wonder if anyone else had struggled with this and how you were able to get your doctor to pay attention to these symptoms and not blame it all on the medication. Thanks for your help 🙏

Hi all, I’ve been dealing with chronic blepharitis and dry eyes for about 4 years now. I only recently discovered heated eye masks through this subreddit and I’m honestly excited to finally try one, because regular hot water compresses just aren’t cutting it. After reading through older posts here, it sounds like Wizard masks are considered top-tier, but they’re unfortunately out of my budget right now (60$ budget). Aroma Season is more great price point and material wise, but from the fabric part of the mask isn’t removable/washable.

I have sensitive skin issues, so I really need a mask with a removable cover or washable fabric layer that I can clean before every use. Does anyone have recommendations for a good USB heated eye mask with a removable washable cover? I also don’t shop on Amazon, so I’d really appreciate direct retailer websites or alternative distributors instead. Thanks in advance!

My company went through a restructure more than 6 months ago, and my role changed quite a bit (new title + different responsibilities). I’ve been asking for an updated job description ever since, but I keep running in circles. HR says my manager should handle it, my manager says it’s on HR...

So… I’ve basically been doing a “new” job for months with nothing formalized.

For context, I’m fairly senior and in previous roles, even internal changes always came with an updated JD.

Is this normal? Who usually owns updating the JD in this kind of situation, and how would you push this forward? How should I document this? Thanks for your help!

Basically the title - I have my JD for every past role pretty much laied out on my IN profile, and yet I have recruiters reaching out to me, asking to submit a resume because they are interested. Why would they ask that when everything is already written on my profile page? I'm curious. Thanks!
