Hello. does any one want to help me find the infamous protection mode problem with the Sony str-da 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, ES
A while back I bought a Da4es and it had the protection message on it after a few seconds, I did end up getting a refund, but they didn't want the 60 pound receiver back can't imagine why.
Some of the things I found.
If you change the speaker channel right before it goes into its protection mode it will bypass it. I did this for a while and it worked fine, but eventually it started to make my speakers pop and I didn't want to blow up my speaker so I just put it away.
Then today I decided to see if I could find anything I missed from when I was first messing with it. I ended up finding this website and one of the things it said to try was when it was on with no signal going to it check to see if it's putting voltage to the speaker connections and said <50 mv are typical and if it went over 0.5-1.0 v it would go into protection mode. So I did just that and 5 out of 9 speaker connections had 1 to 3 volts.
I know some things about electronics but I'm no master.
