The new policy is on my current/main car. That car is due to go into the garage tomorrow for a CV joint issue, so because I need a car for work, I'd arranged temporary insurance on my other car starting tomorrow while the main one is being repaired.
Unfortunately, before that temporary cover started, I was involved in a crash in the other car. Thankfully no one was injured, but my car has been written off. The other driver's truck has very little damage because the tow bar took most of the impact.
The other driver has reported me to the police for allegedly having no insurance. I'm obviously worried because my insurance had recently changed and the temporary policy on the other car wasn't due to begin until tomorrow.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? What should I expect from the police and my insurer, and is there anything I should be doing now?

Any ideas of places to go and visit and things to do just asking chatgpt at the moment but the answers seem to be pretty limited
