Same as the title

my brother was allotted CMRIT in R2, but now he got PESU,

I will reach bangalore on thursday morning, and wanted to know if they are refunding the lab/skill fees which they took along with documents or creating some drama over it. so please let me know in case someone already did it.

So i just went through the admission process today at CMRIT for my brother, Paid KCET fees of 120k Online, but post that they took 24000 from everyone at the admission registration. When i asked if its refundable they said it would depend on the KEA circular. When i asked for a receipt of it. they said they will email me the same. i haven't got any email as of yet. has anyone else got the email, do you know if this is legal fees or something to just grab money?

Second concerning thing is they quoting 172000 for 3 sharing hostel. and 4 sharing is not available. if the 4 sharing is not available then why print on the brochure? what kinda game are they running. Does anyone know who can share the details related to hostel if you have already taken or staying from the 2nd or 3rd year folks? if people can suggest PGs near by which are good also work for me. the fees are going out of hand here for us. this would amount to close to 15L for 4 years otherwise which is too difficult to pay for weaker financial sections like my brother is.

9th August : Got a spare key programmed which had battery gone and buttons not working ( not sure if this is relevent, got it from a local guy)

Today morning 8am (12th aug) , observed that car hazard lights are blinking at irregular intervals.

9am : the interval increases. opened all the doors and locked them made sure if thing is locked and kept the new key 30 feet away to make sure it is not related to that.

10am : the car starts locking and unlocking on its own non stop continuously. after few minutes car trunk lock makes cracking and buzzing noise non stop along with other lock and unlocks.

asked the driver who drives it to check (he was on leave today asked him to come) he said must be some wire disconnect or rat got to some wires. we have to take it to shop. he left for some other work

Disconnected the battery to stop the locking and unlocking non stop.

will take it to near by electrical or mechanic. What could be the issue?

I should have taken a video but didn't i will connect the battery in sometime to take it to mechanic and post the video here. Meanwhile if someone knows what is the problem let me know.

please help me understand which college is better. and what is your understanding of which ever the college is being better. I got ISE in Don bosco institute of technology.

Now in the second round i am thinking to keep the oxford college or to remove it hence i am asking here. if someone aware of this please let me know.

I am planning on joining cse or any allied cse branches such IS or AI ML.

How are the placements? are there any stats of previous years on how much % of people were placed etc? any information would help.

Do product based and service based companies visit? if yes then what were the packages offered.

Pata hai aaj kya hua, I ordered some sweets for guests at home. Not a lot. Sweet and snacks from kanti for 1000rs only.

The delivery rang the bell and when I took the parcel he suddenly said

"Sir can I ask you for help. I'm very hungry, haven't eating anything from morning. If you can give me just 200rs I'll have biriyani outside"

I looked at him too to bottom. He was totally drenched, cloths all dirty and kinda tattered at corners.

While I was processing this he spoke again

"Sir just 200rs I'm very hungry, I'll show you my Google pay balance he it is just 17rs." And proceeded to show me his balance it was 17.67rs.

I felt bad for the guy because to ask someone money for food is the biggest courage in my point of view. If it was food in the order I would gladly given him. Or something else

Anyways. I said "it's okay bro, I'll send you. Give me your scanned. " I scanned and then paid.

He said the following and left. "Thank you sir. I'll send you this money by tomorrow, I'm supposed to get money by then" and left.

Now I'm thinking and feeling bad for the guy. It would take a lot of courage to ask someone else money for food. God forbid if I was in such a situation to ask money from someone else for good would be so bad feel.

Anyways, I'm glad I was able to help the guy.

I'm an engineer and wife is a doctor. She is from my home town and mom is the one selected and introduced us. Offline from the rest of the family we spoke and we liked each other and got married after 6 months. Our chemistry and understanding is good. During these 6 months we definitely had miscommunication between her parents and mine about comments on the jwellery like earings are small as an example. Regarding the wedding dates clash.

Fast forward it's been 6 months to marrige my mom and wife have started not to get all well. They both don't get each other's point of view. She expects her to plan and do things consider the entire family so that we stay together. Like choose work closeby. Which didn't happen(first documents werent there when openings were there later when her docs arrived she grabbed the first opportunity which parents reluctantly agreed thinking we will manage somehow since stint is of only 1 year right now . ) so I bought a car immediately and kept a driver so we didn't have to take another home get separated. My mom from my perspective does go overboard sometimes.

My also complains that her side of the family isn't treating us well give the respect we deserve. This happened because one my wife burnt her hand while trying to learn some cooking at my home and told no one. Including me and when we went for dinner at my in laws went full protective mode and told you aren't taking care of daughter. My wife lived all her life in hostel so she doesn't know anything about house hold stuff which we knew before hand.

While wife before marrige had concerns that she won't be allowed to work etc which I alleviated that my parents won't ever stop her from doing work. But now she thinks she should not be restricted to any location. And I should be staying with her. She says she doesn't mind if the whole family shifts there. She cares only about work and being comfortable to work.

She also complains that doing any house work at home is too much and tiring. She doesn't do any house work we have help for dishes and cleaning. It's only cooking related. She says she was so free before marriage staying hostel and no one had any expectations of me it was just my work and me. That she feels stuck etc.

Couple of arguments happened on these topics where I do feel that my mom could have been patient and not said some of the harsh things. While my wife could have been more understanding and explained her problems well to them. Instead of just telling me and expecting me to resolve it. Because let's face it my parents are illiterate.

So I'm stuck playing the pacifier on both side and trying to get things to go smooth but sometimes it feels too much. It's affecting my work and my daily life. Which is the case with my mom and wife. It's affecting them too. All things are not going according to each of them thought initially atleast. What should I do? How can I make things better. How can I make them understand each other's pov. Because both of them are right and wrong at the same time for the sake of the family.

I know me buying a used car did not make sense to a lot of you. still i did it nonetheless. Here is the update so far

Considered EV as many people mentioned would suit my needs but me being tier3 town (taluk) and not even a single EV owner in car segment, Another reason being my usage is not always going to be this high after 1 year. i opted out of it. Bought a used duster(diesel-2017) for 6L from Bangalore through a friend, i preferred a SUV since very bad roads all sedans came to my home always scraped the bottom.

It has been 10 days, Got it driven home, cost me 5k (2.5 for driver and 2.5 for fuel). My home is ~500kms from Bangalore. vehicle is smooth didn't cause any issues so far, got driver on daily wage and drove it along with him so that i refine my driving. so far it has completed 1400kms since purchase including the Bangalore to home travel. so far the cost is high but at the same time my family is also using it for function visits, relatives visits, and shopping whenever possible planning it along with our work. And since driver is available all the time they are using it by planning the timings and distance well.

So far even though the running cost seemingly high i do not regret it. Because the daily kms is going to fluctuate often. and after 1 year the travel is going to drop to only 10-20kms everyday.

I am going to practice driving as much as i can so i would not have to hire a driver everytime we need to take the vehicle. i am already driving by myself even though slowly steadily to near by places. Hopefully i will enroll my wife also to driving school next month for learning so she can also drive it around.

Reason i finalized on duster( Suv, spacious, rugged and high safety ratings, and reliable engine, other possible option was either ecosport, terranio or nexon ) after comparing everything duster seemed to be right choice.

Finalized an old duster from 2017, And just working its reliability and maintenance cost. Car is in excellent condition as of now. I live in tier 3 city and the parts are generally available.

Though i am firm on my decision it kinda feels unsettling for my frugal side i guess. Its difficult to explain maybe people in this would understand what i am feeling. When i discussed it with my friends they just brushed it off saying "dude you earn so much, live a little" which i agree with too. But at the same time i feel that i am entering living below means to splurging. maybe i will get used to it once it get it.

So i was brought up in a very earn to meet ends family. lived in huts, then rented house, dad owned a pan beedi shop/small hotel in a tier3 city. and was also out of work for 4-5 years and still worked on bettering our lives and savings with whatever work was available,. All we have known is frugality and saving money

Dad mom saved, bought home and paid for our studies, hostels and what not.

I became a software engineer and my brother has becoming a doctor. i got married and wife is also a doctor(fresher). I earn 50LPA now started at 4LPA. still i always saved a lot, made investments. at times bought used furniture. used electronics where ever i could.

I have decided to buy a car since we need it and we will need a driver for multiple trips for our office travel of entire family and other needs. now we are using public transport and it is getting hectic and family is unable to spend time with each other. At this point it feels like necessity. But this also means the expenses are going to increase a lot. Car, Driver, fuel & maintenance.

Also, if you guys have any advice on owning a car and being frugal at the time to not overspend do let me know.

Car price - 6L(used) .

Driver cost is around ~20k per month.

fuel would be 15K per month(120kms trip everyday) .

maintenance would be 20k for every 6 months if nothing major breaks down.

P.S wifey is going to help out she said but will have to see.

Edit: people here are assuming that i am earning 50LPA i am well off. But i am earning this since only 2 years. i mentioned that i started my carier at 4LPA. it took 8 years to reach here. i don't have 4cr as my asset balance. and i have many responsibilities.

So i saw a post few days ago that some people bought just the base of the macbook pro for very cheap. does anyone know if i can find such deals anywhere?

So i am an IT guy working from anywhere. currently in Kalaburagi for a week at my brothers house. I need work during the day but need air conditioning, because the house gets too hot. I am thinking of working from any cafe's only thing that comes to my mind is dominos because i saw one on the way. Any other options where i can sit for long?

Bangalore i usually used to work from chai point, or CCD, sometimes KFC as well. also there are many cafe's available. Please suggest.
