Cleaning and Aging. Maintaining a clean home when you can no longer see the grime?
Edit: I am looking for tips for MYSELF so I do not become like my parents. They are in their 60s and I am not the boss of their lives and they do not care about my input in their optical health. Thank you!

I'll just admit that my dad has never had an eye for detail. He doesn't like to use the vent hood because he can't watch the TV while he uses it, and as a result, the ceiling, the walls, the countertops, the cabinets are all sticky.
He used to wipe down these surfaces, but not anymore. After having a frank conversation with him it's because he truly couldn't see it anymore.
But as my mom and dad have been getting older and their sight has been failing, I've been noticing increasing cobwebs on the ceiling. I've been noticing far more grime around the baseboards. I pointed out and they have to squint really close and then they get shocked and embarrassed.
I always help them when I come over, obviously. Unfortunately though my dad is the kind of person who gets embarrassed and slightly offended when people try to help him do stuff. He's a stay at home husband.
I'm not gonna lie and pretend that they've always had good habits, but it really makes me concerned as time goes on, and I am getting older, that I won't be able to keep up with dirt I can't see.
I maintain my health, and maintaining my mobility as I age is my number one priority. But do any older folks have tips for keeping their living space actually livable so guests aren't gagging?
