Windows 11 user, not currently using iCloud Photos. Talk me into it.

Currently, I edit my photos in Luminar Neo, and export my edited photos to a “Saved Photos” folder on my Windows 11 laptop. Within this folder, I have many subfolders that are organized according to trips we’ve taken, events, etc.

I like to view these thousands of photos on my iPad, to do that I sync the “saved photos” folder to my iPad in iTunes for Windows. It works well, the photos are categorized according to my windows folder structure, and I don’t have to be on WiFi to view the photos on my iPad.

Should I come out of the stone ages and start using iCloud Photos?
- I’d like to share my photo library with my wife so she can view my photos on her iPad.
- I’d still like to be able to save and view all my photos on my iPad without being connected to the internet.

If the Reddit recommendation is yes, I should be using iCloud Photos, how should I proceed?

Thank you!

If there was ever a 3 out of 5 star product it is this. It needs more firmware updates that I doubt are coming, since the product is apparently discontinued.

- it does an awesome job cleaning. I run it weekly and ask myself where does all this dirt come from? I empty the bin each time the vacuum stops to recharge.
- it has a build quality commensurate with its original retail price. Grab them at their current price!
- it keeps saying that the airways are blocked. They aren’t. Fortunately the alert doesn’t keep me from starting a cleaning cycle.
- it keeps getting stuck on my 4x12 hvac vents. This has me searching Amazon for a sturdy solution that will either allow the vacuum to pass over the vent, or deflect it altogether. What have you done, Redditors?
- the base station is in an entryway where we keep our cat litter boxes. I’d love to zone this area and clean it daily. But for some reason this area will not map. When I look at the map, the base station is outside of it! So I can’t zone the area to clean it.
- I find the robot does better when all the lights are turned on in the house. I don’t have a problem with this.

Tempo - Battery usage test

Today was a test of battery usage for my new Tempo. I rode on a fully charged battery, with the following setting which I did not change during the ride.
- Class 1
- Trail mode
- Torque sensor

My ride was 5.3 miles on pavement, semi hilly, I averaged 18mph.

I used 21% of the battery. In this Reddit group’s opinion, is this normal?

For my next ride I’ll experiment with Eco and see how I do. Trail seems to provide me with just the amount of boost I’m looking for but I’m disappointed with the battery (I knew when I bought the bike it had a lower capacity battery).

Receiver Hitch

My wife and I have two Lexi, a 2025 NXh and a 2025 ESh. We also both have electric bikes and I’m researching racks to transport them.

These (as I understand it) will require a receiver hitch be installed on one of our vehicles. I have no experience with this so of course I come to Reddit.

Is one vehicle any better than the other to handle the receiver? Is there anything bothersome or inconvenient about the receiver that would annoy us having it installed full time?

Windows to Mac workflow

I have a Windows laptop now with Luminar Neo, and an iPad. My current workflow is to create folders with my Luminar catalog where I process my out-of-camera images. Then I export the processed images to a “saved photos” folder. I use iTunes to sync all of my “saved photos” to my iPad (I don’t use iCloud Photos), I like the photos on my iPad so I can view them offline. Note that all of the pictures in “saved photos” are in folders that are categorized by event, location, etc. because Windows photo doesn’t have albums like Apple Photos does.

I need a faster laptop and am thinking of a MacBook Air. I’d probably like to come out of the stone ages and start using iCloud Photos (I understand that it is possible to download photos to an iPad for offline use, and the photos are synced across devices).

How does Luminar storage and workflow work on a Mac? Do you keep your out-of-camera images and catalog out of Apple Photos, and then export them to an Apple Photos folder? How do I manage the movement of thousands of photos in 30 folders from Windows to a Mac?

Happiness is no tan lines.

Have been happily taking advantage of naked float and boat days on our lake home in WI (it’s great except for biting flies).

It might be a silly obsession but I’m really going for an even full body tan. What I’ve been doing is starting with a tanning oil with 15SPF and rotisserieing in the sun for not TOO long. Then skinny dipping to wash off the oil. Then drying off, and switching to an instant bronzing spray with 30SPF. I’m not sure how long lasting that “bronzing” is and my wife hates it because the overspray from the stuff stains the boat orange, lol. I ran out of the bronzing spray yesterday and will be going to “plain” 30SPF spray today.

What are your tanning tips?

Need to rent out our house. Property management company recommendations requested!

We moved out of state and are trying to sell the Ohio home, but if we end up being forced to rent it I’m not comfortable being a long distance landlord. Can anyone recommend a good management company at a good price?

Enhancing (AI) your own photos

This may very well be deleted and that’s ok, but I tried taking a selfie for my own purposes, using AI I want to see myself with a lower body fat % and a little better muscularity, as a motivator of what I could look like with a disciplined approach to diet and exercise. But none of the big AI programs will work with NSFW images. Not having any luck with Google search. Any ideas, redditors?

Half a Life

My father-in-law recently had a slow, seemingly-agonizing death, and my mother-in-law has dementia and cannot care for herself. I do not want one penny of the assets I’ve spent a lifetime accumulating going to full time care. And I do not want to burden my wife and/or son. I say this as a healthy 61 year old.

Therefore I see a great deal of wisdom of “The Resolution.” Yeah it’s a bit extreme, but if I could sign a piece of paper right now that enables assisted suicide as I become increasingly ill, senile, and dependent, I would do it.

Your nudist bucket list?

I have one I’m sure some of you have done….

I’d like to charter a crewed sailing catamaran to someplace tropical, with visits to towns and nude beaches.

I did get to enjoy a great experience in Fiji, it wasn’t “nudist” but our oceanfront cabin was so private I was nude all the time. Besides that, sleeping, and the spa I must have been unclothed more than half the vacation. It was awesome!

Asking for PIN

Is there a defensive answer to this question? my wife’s Lexus NX continually asks for a pin every few weeks, even though we know the pin we created when we bought the car and enter it. Despite this, it asks again a few weeks later.

How do we resolve this?
