I remember in 1999, a kid having this card at the park after he freshly pulled it and everyone thought it was super special because of the “gold” holo, haha. I had no clue who Nidoking was before that moment. Loved the card/pokemon ever since.
It has so much to offer with it being a bad ass artwork, and a historically significant Pokémon in the anime. I remember playing Pokemon red as a kid and getting Pidgeotto evolved to pidgeot. such an awesome feeling.
One is pop 110 (ish), and the other is 1st edition :)

Possibly the ultimate Pokemon grail of all time. The 1st edition Muk is maybe the best card ever printed. The mere sight of it leaves most Pokemon collectors speechles, in pure awe of the spectacular brown holographic lines across the artwork. A true masterpiece.
In all seriousness I actually do love this card, just as I love all cards from the first three sets, and I’m one step closer to completing 1st edition fossil. Woo hoo!
This is me fulfilling childhood dreams and trying to impress my young self. Side note, the community in this sub has been refreshingly positive. some of the Pokemon subs seem to be a bit toxic unfortunately. So yeah, thanks for being cool.

Also, side question. Does anyone know how to find out how recent the cert is for a CGC slab? The cert numbers are more confusing than PSA, who just serializes them. Trying to figure out when this was graded…

Nothing special at all but I don’t think I can ever let go of these. They aren’t worth that much anyway, even if I did. The base Nidoking was one of my favorites, I thought the “gold” holo was so cool back then and the Pokemon just looked bad ass.
