A rant about the double standards regarding Corinthos/Quartermaines and their spouses

This is a comment I left under a different post, but I feel the need to share it in my own post:

Long rant incoming:

With all the Corinthos/Quartermaines, if the outsider spouse cheats, immediately they “deserve” to loose custody of their kids — which is absolute crap because if it were the other way around, everyone would be pressuring the outsider spouse to forget and forgive (ex: Olivia with the Ned and Alexis fiasco, Lulu with Dante when he cheated on her with Valerie). When Michael cheated with Kiki while she was with Morgan, literally everyone made MORGAN THE BAD GUY (if I’m remembering correctly), when MICHAEL AND KIKI WERE THE ONES WHO CHEATED.

Willow deserves to be judged and ripped a new one, sure, but loose her kids? Girl, she has literally been pushed to the brink of snapping. Yes, partially due to her horrible choices, but a heavy part of it has to do with controlling men — yes, Michael falls into that category — and Harmony, the woman who raised Willow to have and follow a cult/submissive mentality). When you are pushed to the brink, you will snap and do things you normally wouldn’t do. And let’s be real, Willow was right: Drew would not have stopped until he destroyed half that town and suffocated her more than he already had (yes she brought that on herself initially, but he screwed with her mind a lot and he was becoming such a problem for the whole town; drugging him literally gave everyone a respite from his vendetta). Do I think it was right of her to do that? Hell no, irl that’s awful, but I can understand what led her to do it in the show, as this is fiction.

And let’s not forget Michael played just as dirty to rip the kids away from Willow (he literally sued for full custody FIRST just as a power play to make sure she was afraid and would settle for half custody). Michael also has a problem with women having as much or more power/control than him in the relationship. Every woman he has been with so far has had less financial and familial means than he does (Kiki, Nelle, Sabrina, Rosalie, Abby, Sasha (before they made her a Scorpio, and even then the Scorpios aren’t exactly rich) and Willow, before she found out her birth family).

The second Willow gains enough status, family, money, and influence to go toe to toe with him, he needs to push her back into a position where she is at his mercy and under his control (you’ll understand if you watched the 8/13 episode).

And Willow was not unreasonable at first (regarding after she freed herself from Drew; when she was with Drew, girl—). She asked for 50/50 custody… literally 10% more than what she already had. Literally there is not that much difference than having 40%, it would have barely affected Michael’s custody schedule. However, it also would have put her on equal legal footing with Michael. And Michael couldn’t have that. Why? The reasons he gave are bs in my opinion. He doesn’t like that she would have just as much say/control/power as him over Wiley and Amelia. And he basically threatened her to go back to court and got stressed when she didn’t back down because frankly, she had a good chance of winning.

The whole Jacinda mess was a justified crash out on Willow’s part. Girl, if someone drugged me while I had my kids, I’d be EXTREMELY pissed too. What if Willow got behind the wheel? What if Willow got aggravated and started hitting the kids? What if Willow passed out? What if Willow slipped off the balcony? That would have traumatized those children. Your brain on drugs isn’t rational and has a warped sense of reality. So much could have happened if it wasn’t for pure dumb luck regarding timing.

Michael was bs-ing that whole downplaying that he was doing, because if the roles were reversed, Willow would be in the pine barrens. And frankly? I’d take him to court too because there would be no way that you allowed a person known for drugging others into my child’s life, knew that they drugged me while I had my kids and could potentially get behind the wheel, gaslight me, and still have custody. I know it’s a show and that we have to suspend reality, but come on; anyone would crash the hell out and would be justified to do so.

And now, after the 8/13 episode, which basically proves my point, Willow is at a disadvantage. Again. And barely anyone seems to understand why she is so angry.

And this is a double standard with all outsider spouses of the Corinthos/Quartermaine clan, mainly women unfortunately. Ava has to tiptoe around to keep her custody of Avery. Jax literally lost custody of Josslyn because he was gonna win and Carly asked Sonny to plant drugs in his house, even though he was the better fit parent let’s be real. Everybody made Elizabeth a pariah over Jake (the Lucky aspect of the slander she received was 100% justified though), when in the end she was right to keep Jake’s true paternity a secret, Carly even admitted it. AJ, though he had a lot of problems, deserved to know that Michael was his son. Carly and Jax kept Spencer away from Nikolas all because Jax wanted a son and Carly wanted Jax. Carly kept Nina’s children away from her TWICE. Sam was give such a hard time for waking up and not wanting the kids near Jason and his mob central. Valentine is always favored with Charlotte (I consider him Corinthos adjacent via Carly), and while yes Lulu needs to chill, she still isn’t wrong to want to protect her from a father that while undoubtedly loves his daughter, enables and supports her worst traits and brings danger around.

I’m getting very fed up with the strange imbalance with custody when it comes to the Corinthos/Quartermaines. The only person who has come out unscathed is Sasha, and that’s purely due to Sofia Mattson leaving the show and it being convenient for the plot.

What do you think will be the moment that Alastor realizes he cares more about Charlie than he initially thought/intended?

Like will she be injured? Will it be some random moment? Will it be when dueling Lucifer for Hell’s Greatest Dad round two?

Comment below your theories!

Screenshots of Alastor's reaction to Niffty in danger

Alastor is terrified when it looks like Niffty might get seriously hurt. It is a pity that a lot of people didn't notice it because of how quickly this moment passes when watching the scene.

Do you think there was more to the whole “Don’t lay a hand on Charlie” deal between Al and Vox?

Many people say that Al was just using Charlie for his schemes — which undoubtedly he was. No question about it.

But do you guys think a tiny part of him genuinely wanted to protect Charlie?

The way he cashed in his side of their deal was generally quite harmless. Yes, Al could’ve done this to gain Charlie’s trust for any future deals, I’m not denying that it’s part of his motivation. However, do you guys think that maybe he used the deal the way he did because he didn’t want to make Charlie do anything that would upset her? He could’ve asked for anything, but this was a very suspiciously simple way for Charlie to fulfill her part of the bargain.

Idk, maybe I’m grasping at straws lol. Thoughts?

Let’s make a list of evidence toward platonic RadioBelle for Season 3

So far, I have:

*Erika’s interview where she says Alastor has a fatherly protection over Charlie

*Amir saying there is an emotional song in season 3 for Alastor

*Alastor having internal conflict in season 3

What else do you guys have of evidence? (I’ll make edits periodically :3 )

Add on reasons:

*Alastor telling Charlie about the secret behind his smile :)

*Viv confirming that when Alastor tells Vox “there’s nothing you can do to break that girl’s spirit”, it is a hint at what Alastor genuinely admires about Charlie

*Alastor talking with Niffty at the end of season 1, stating that the Hazbin crew (which includes Charlie) is an enjoyable collective to be around and that he could get accustomed

*In “Ready for This”, Alastor sings that Charlie is filled with potential that he could guide

*Amir’s entire interview with Comicbook about Alastor’s motivations and his bond with Charlie

Do you think that Lucifer and Alastor might ever team up as dads if Charlie needed them?

I’d love to see them become Charlie’s dads with a fun friendship in which they actually look after Charlie and co-parent her together.

I am a RadioApple shipper and I’d love to see these three develop a family-like dynamic

Thoughts?

How do you think Alastor and Lucifer’s relationship will develop in a positive direction?

Does something force them together and make them realize they would be good friends?

Do they bond over Charlie?

Do they bond over hating other sinners?

What are your thoughts?? :)

Does anyone know the name of the song in the season 5 trailer?

The lyrics are “all your life, been watching watching you”, “what’s done in the dark, comes shining shining through”, and “wild ride, it’s gonna be a wild ride”.

I have been scouring the internet for the song but I can’t find it.

How do you all think Charlie and Alastor’s relationship will develop in season 3?

Will Alastor start faking fatherly love and then slowly realize it’s more authentic than he initially thought?

Will Alastor dislike how Lilith/Lucifer treats Charlie?

Will Alastor and Charlie just naturally start to hang out together?

What are your thoughts??

Check out r/platonicradiobelle !!

There’s this new subreddit that discusses platonic Alastor + Charlie ships! It hasn’t gained much traction yet, but I hope that changes.

I’ve seen a few comments here and there about people hoping that the familial/friend bond between Charlie and Alastor will grow — and maybe we could discuss theories there!

Hope some of you join! :)

Introduction!

Hi!

I’m u/Queen_ofthe_misfits, and I’m personally a fan of familial RadioBelle, hoping that Alastor will see Charlie as a daughter (for real) one day. I love found family tropes/wholesome father-daughter relationships.

I’ve posted some questions on other subreddits that I’ll start posting here!

I just want to make some friends and discuss some theories that I feel no one really wants to talk about (since most people don’t ship platonic RadioBelle)

Hope more people join!

I hope we get a reprise of “Hell’s Greatest Dad” at some point in the show

I am a fan of Alastor and Charlie’s (potential) father/daughter bond.

I hope that maybe in realization of this, Alastor might reprise his part of “Hell’s Greatest Dad”, but this time actually mean it.

In my headcanon, it would be a slowed down version, where either maybe Charlie is angry with Alastor, and Alastor has realized just how badly he fucked up, to where he is almost a bit teary singing it.

OR maybe Charlie gets hurt somehow and while she’s unconscious, he’s kinda singing the reprise (in the same style as described above).

Idk… just a fangirl’s fun headcanon :)

Thoughts? (Please be kind)

Anyone else think that Charlie and Alastor’s bond will grow in season 3?

Erika said in an interview that Alastor will be the only one there for her at times, and that he has a fatherly protection over her. Amir also is very tight lipped about any questions regarding Charlie, aside from a few comments saying that Alastor trusts her the most. Which makes me think there is something regarding the two that he doesn’t want to risk spoiling. Also, Amir said that if Alastor had to describe Charlie in three words, it would be “trying her best”, which compared to every other cast members’ answer to the same question, it was actually quite positive.

I am a big fan of their potential father-daughter bond (I’m a sucker for found family/dad/daughter tropes) and I’m an avid RadioApple shipper so I acknowledge that I’m biased.

I’m open to disagreements, just please be kind about them :)
