Power bank side hustle
I was at a café when someone nearby asked if anyone had a charger.
I had one of those tiny power banks in my bag, so I let them borrow it for about 20 minutes while they waited for their ride.
When they gave it back, they handed me like $4-$5.
I told them it was fine, but they insisted and said I basically saved them from their phone dying.
Never thought I'd accidentally make money just because I carried a power bank. LOL

Anyone else feel like there's too much advice for breaking into finance?
I've been reading a lot about getting into finance lately, and honestly it feels like everyone says something different. Some people say networking is everything, others say just focus on technicals, while some say internships are all that matter. It's kinda hard to know what I should actually prioritize first. If you've already broken into the industry, what ended up making the biggest difference for you?
Anyone else feel like networking is way harder than the technical prep?
I've been spending the past few weeks getting ready for sell-side recruiting, mostly IB and ER. I've been doing the usual stuff: accounting, valuation, DCFs, brain teasers, market news, etc. It's hard, but at least I know what I need to study.
The part I'm struggling with is networking.
People always say "just reach out on LinkedIn," but it feels awkward messaging someone you've never met. Sometimes they don't reply, sometimes they do but the conversation dies after a few messages. I also don't want to sound like I'm only talking to them because I want a referral.
For those who already landed internships or full-time roles, what actually worked for you? Did you send a lot of cold messages, focus on alumni, or just get lucky with timing?
Would appreciate any advice because I feel like this part of recruiting isn't talked about as much as the technical interviews.
