We are making new enemies for our full game. Do these concepts work out?

Our studio is developing a first person roguelike shooter with deckbuilding elements.

Two months ago we launched a demo with 4 main enemy types: no armor enemy (spider bot), armored (robot), heavily armored (pirate airship), and boss (squid).

The full game is projected to release this fall. For the main release, we are planning to add new kinds of enemies with fresh, different mechanics.

A few of them are already in the active development.

1 pic — Wasp Nest. A wasp nest lands on the top of the pipe, spawning weaker wasps. After spawning, the wasps fly around for a while, then hover in place and start attacking. The nest itself is invulnerable or heavily armored. The nest opens when the wasps spawn, exposing a weak spot that must be hit to destroy the nest. The actual wasps are weak on their own, but numerous ones will cause pretty big trouble.

2 pic — Caterpillar. An armored, single-use unit is dangerous only when the player ignores it. It crawls slowly from the edge of the deck toward the player. Damage dealt to it is accompanied by visual effects — armor plates fly off, exposing its innards. When the caterpillar crawls up to the turret, it explodes, dealing damage to the player.

QUESTION: Do concepts like these suit the steampunk genre at all? And what other enemies would you like to see in the game?

TikTok has shadowbanned our page despite zero violations. New videos are not gaining any traction. Support was pretty damn useless in facing a problem. Has anyone had this happen?

Our demo was marked as 'not eligible' for Bullet Fest by Steam. Anyway, here is our gameplay.

The game is called OVER SAND.

Here is a Steam page. Would love to hear some feedback.

Is an art contest a good activity for building a community?

Hey!

As an artist myself, I came up with the idea to start some kind of creative activity in our new community to make things more fun — Steampunk Character Art Contest with cool lore about the world devoured by sand, which was set by a machinery regime. Everyone I talked to thinks it's a lame idea.

Is it really? Do any types of contests have a negative reception among artists? And why?

---

Btw, the contest started yesterday. If anyone is interested, you are welcome to join.

Discord.

As an artist myself, I came up with the idea to start some kind of creative activity in our new community to make things more fun — Steampunk Character Art Contest. But my team thinks it's lame.

I want to prove them wrong.

The fun begins on MAY 11th in our Discord server! Join!

Let's start friendly artists mayhem. Anyone is welcome!

Quick note: no AI artists.

Happy to finally see the time our demo is getting last polishing touches before it's coming out. It will be presented at the BitSummit Expo in Japan next month. We are so excited.
