Should I give him a chance or completely ignore him?

Asc brothers and sisters

My cousin, that I’m very close with, has had a crush on a guy for a very long time which she told me and a lot our mutuals about. A year ago she moved on from him and that was that. I see this guy in my university a lot as we’re in the same class. He has recently expressed interest in me to one of our mutual friends and I actually like him as well but initially it was a complete no. My friend then advised me to give it a chance but I feel like I’m betraying my cousin BIG time even if I consider to talk with him.

What do you guys think?

Bear in mind, she really liked him for years but neither pursued each other. And knowing my cousin she will look at me a different way (maybe even stop talking to me) and I also feel like it’s breaking the unwritten rules of girlhood. Only reason I’m asking is because I genuinely do like him and because my friends advice - but my morals and concsience says it’s a bad idea.

Flytte ud som studerende

Hej allesammen

MDD is ruining me and my life

Hello everyone

I figure that this has been said by many people and I’ve read many posts. However I feel like I need to make one for my self.

Long story short MDD is ruining my life. I daydream 5 hours every single day and it’s affecting work, social life, family, my health and so on. But I can’t stop. I know that I use it as an escape but some of my circumstances are not changeable for now. My head is tired, my heart races because of the scenarios but I can’t stop. I feel very very addicted to it and I know it’s really bad for me but I can’t stop.

How do I stop? Can I get every single advice you’ve ever heard of or received. Because this is ruining me and I unfortunately don’t have anyone I can talk to about this nor go to therapy because of financial reasons

Rules for check in baggage at Pegasus Airlines

Hello

This is the first time travelling to Istanbul and it’s with Pegasus. It’s kinda a dumb question: my cabin check in allowance is 20 kg and I think I can stay under. Does it make a difference if the suitcase is big but weighs under 20 kg. Does that makes sense? Will they allow that the suitcase is big

What do you think about the “can’t pay, we’ll take it away” series?

Hi everyone

I’m not from the united kingdom and I’ve just went down a rabbit hole about the series “can’t pay, we’ll take it away”. This is some of the most depressing stuff I’ve ever seen. What kind of series was that? Did any of you watch it and was it well received in you guys’ community? And I know that horrible stuff happens all around the world but this is really making me feel distraught.

I’ve seen some evictions that feels so wrong. For example, a lady with her 3 children was evicted with an hour notice because her late father’s girlfriend won some court case that gave her right to evict them. There were also a family with a child on LIFE SUPPORT that also were evicted or a Somali refuge with walking issues.

I know that this was years ago but I can’t help to feel so sad that some people were/are going through this - and the facts it’s being recorded?
I want to hear people’s thoughts on this?

UK family that owed 12,000 pounds

Asc brothers and sisters

I just saw a video, that I saw many years ago. It was about a family that had to pay a years worth of rent back to a landlord. The auntie was a refugee and her sister was a carer. The video broke my heart again into a million pieces. I know that horrible stuff happens all around the world and that this is years ago but this really broke my heart. Also because the son was comforting his mother that was visibly distraught by this.

Does anyone have an update on the family? I’m also sad that this moment was broadcasted to everyone and I genuinely wish that the Somali community in their area helped.

Do you feel like people treat you different because you’re in med school?

Hi

Weird question, I know. I am a med student in 1st year and go to a semi-good school, which I’m happy with.

I feel as if a lot of my friends - that aren’t doing medicine or anything health related - thinks that I’m so busy that they can’t check up on me or make plans with me - I initiate it. Also when I meet people and tell them I’m studying medicine (ONLY after being asked what I do) they say very surprised waow, I could never or that I must not have a life. A lot of people also say that they were going to do it but they couldn’t sacrifice their life, freedom etc. And it just feels so backhanded. Has anyone else experienced that?

Also the thing that I’m thinking the most about, is that I genuinely feel like a lot of people are withdrawing from me. Nothing else has changed but that I got into med school, and I don’t know if I’m overthinking it but since that the only thing that changed?

So, do you feel like people treat you different just because you study medicine - or am I just crazy?

I genuinely need advice about family situation

Asc brothers and sisters

I (F)need a little advice. I don’t know if this is the right place but I’m just going to post here.

I live at home with both my parents and my five brothers. Growing up I had a lot of responsibility as I was the oldest and only girl. I also contributed a lot financially and after years of doing that while not receiving a lot of emotional support from either parents - as they later said my brothers needed that more because they were boys in the west- I became burnt out. I stopped doing a lot of the chores and paying so much because I got so exhausted. I started going to uni and I dont work as much anymore, so I don’t have a lot of money. My father wants me to contribute financially (they are also asking my brothers but they are young, so they can’t do much) and I just can’t. I don’t have a lot and the little I work, I want to use that money on my self. They think that I’m selfish and that I can’t keep living at home for free. They say that they want me to help with what I can but at the same time I feel like they are getting annoyed that I’m not paying.

My parents have had a hard life and I want to help them. Although while they’re asking me they are putting a few thousands away in hagbad. And I understand that it’s going to be used for something later for all of us. But I just feel like that you can’t be putting that much away, while knowing that you’re going to need money.

I don’t know if I am wrong and that’s why I’m asking. And I want to know from an Islamic and cultural view I don’t know if I’m too westernized. I think that your young adults should be able to build their own fundament and by asking them for money all the time so they are left with 0, just keeps them in the vicious cycle. And I feel a bit annoyed that they don’t understand my situation as a student and that they don’t understand I want to use my little money from work on myself? I know I’m lucky, alhamdulilah, I just feel like everyone around me actually just uses their money from work on themselves and their parents doesn’t burden them financially. And to be honest, my parents do make bad financial decisions (because they weren’t taught what to do) but im tired of that being on my mind. And everytime I say this, my mother gets really upset and just walks away mid conversation. Again they think it’s selfish for me to use the money on my self and have saving while they “need” money.

Am I wrong? I want to hear everything, even if it’s really critical of me

Denim skirt

Hi, I’m not sure I’m in the right forum but I’ll try to ask here. I have a maxi denim skirt and it’s open in the bag - I assume it makes the skirt more flexible and comfortable.

However I want to know if you can close that and still have flexible skirt? Does anyone have any tips
