So the DNO subcontractor came out today to survey my looped supply…

To be able to get full 7kW EV charging, my mains supply needs to be unlooped.

I’m not on the hook for the cost (thank god), but it isn’t going to be an easy or quick job - matey who came out did not sound chuffed.

DNO is going to need a new 30m cable run underneath a public road and two paths, apparently needs multiple permits to get the work done!

I’m guessing I’m going to be waiting a while with my granny charger for now.

Anyone else have any horror install stories?

Financial Health Check - Too risk-averse/liquid? Does my plan look okay?

Hi All,

I'm just looking for some advice really. With inflation the way it has been, it's more important than ever to try and make my money work for me - and I feel I've been neglecting that by being too risk-averse. I've been sat on this for a while, and it's time to sort it out.

Income: £43k / Bills: £700pm / Savings: £1-£1.5k/pm / Pension: Defined Benefit (£7k/pa atm)

Savings: Account #1 (4%): £116,500 / Premium Bonds: £5,000 / S&S ISA (all VWRP): £14,000 / Cash ISA (3.6%): £49,000

Debt: CC 1 (0%) £6,500 / CC 2 (0%): £5,600 / Mortgage (1.16% until Dec): £110,000

The original intention was to clear my mortgage (psychological reasons/not financial - well aware this isn't the most financially optimal), but that still leaves me with liquidity to put to work.

I've been pound-cost averaging into a S&S ISA for the last year and done ok, but of course everyone is a genius in a bull market.

My current plan:

- Dump Premium Bonds entirely (I've won naff all, and it feels silly)

- Service the minimum payment on CC's and then clear once 0% expires (June '27) (or maybe BT to a new 0%?)

- Move Cash ISA to S&S ISA in larger chunks (pound-cost average still and build up my tolerance to risk)

- Leave the savings alone to clear mortgage, leave remainder (£6,500) as an emergency fund (12 months).

Are there any other financial vehicles I should be looking at to park this liquidity or am I best focusing on my S&S ISA? Or am I setting myself up for failure by focusing primarily on that?

I'm at an age where I should probably be taking some more risk rather than sitting on it, and I'm okay with leaving it for a while - I have no future goals in mind which would need this money. I want to make sure I'm not missing anything obvious.

Thanks.

The most boring VWRP, slow and steady.

Almost fell asleep posting this it’s so boring, just VWRP and my strategy is ‘leave it the fuck alone’. This is 1y timeline.

Mourning the loss of my RKLB stock I sold when it was a meme stock on r/pennystocks. I don’t wanna talk about it. 😭

May delivery customers are being contacted to arrange collection now.

I’ve just received a call to organise collection of my Model 3 Standard RWD from Tesla Cambridge. Earliest available date for collection is 28th May.

Ordered on the 23rd April, it was pre-configured stock (a.k.a cancelled) and had VIN assigned straightaway. On GLOVIS SUMMIT ship which is docking in Southampton in the next 24 hours.

Ordered through SmartHomeCharge.

In Lincolnshire, DNO is National Grid.

Can anyone provide timelines for how long their install took please?

I’m about a week in (after SmartHomeCharge remote survey) and all I’ve done is share meter and cut-out pictures with the DNO. Initial response is that it has been ‘passed to the commercial team to resolve’ but not heard anything else yet.

EV is due end of May, didn’t realise how long of a process the charger can be - so might’ve cut it fine.

Any lived experience appreciated. Thanks!

▲ 3 r/Intune

Bit of a headscratcher, hoping someone can help out.

I'm trying to bring all of my Dell devices up to the latest BIOS level as a pre-requisite to comply with the Secure Boot changes happening in June. These have random BIOS passwords, so I can't use anything outside of Windows Update capsule-based (like DCU).

I've got a security group containing 50 clients, and I've left it for a week to populate and catalog drivers required. Settings are simple:

Approval method: Automatically approve all recommended driver updates

Make updates available after: 0 days

Windows drivers are allowed in the general Windows Update policy.

Out of the 50 devices (of which there are about 10 different models), it's showing precisely six driver updates (one BIOS) which are only applicable to two devices. If I try and update a machine outside of Intune (fresh build, prior to provisioning), it pulls fine the latest drivers without issue.

Am I doing something wrong here?

I'd appreciate any insight into those who manage driver updates through Intune, and can share their setup.

Thanks.

Sent this picture off to the DNO (waiting for response), but the label is partially ripped.

Will this cause me any issues? Unsure if they can establish what amp cut-out fuse from just this.

Thanks
