Large/Heavy Items - Shipping Preference?

Im wondering what is yalls experience and recommendations/preferences are for large, heavy, or bulky items. I am listing something that I can see sells for 30-50$ depending on quality, but it is 6 lbs... so the USPS listing is 50-150$ shipping. The UPS listing is 20-70$ and FedEx is about the same. Ive always listed as "buyer pays".

However, the same item is available from others at 150-200$ with free shipping. I am located in TX.. not centrally located in the USA. What would be your recommendation on selling shipping preferences for this?

With such a wide range.. Im inclined to keep it as "buyer pays" and lower the initial cost. How would you handle this?

How are you supposed to get this drain snake to work?

Basically I was told "maintenance is too far away. Go to this other location, borrow her snake, and do it yourself". Half our sinks are down cus it comes back up from the floor. I've googled videos on how to use these but it just winds up on itself and comes out. I can't get it past the bend in the pipe either, and it's VERY CLEARLY clogged farther down the line. Hell, I even tried snaking it down one of the connected sinks. All.it did was come spring loaded back out at me and covered me in sewage juice.

Needless to say, I'm PISSED.

Folder says I'm not the owner but gets stuck giving me permission?

Long story short: prior OLD PC shit a brick while I was copying files over (ironically, to back them up and then retire this PC). The hdds are intact. I asked on another sub how to get my remaining files, and I bought this.. gosh, it's a box, you plug the HDD into it, and can access it all.

Worked great on my backup drive.

On the main drive.. I need files that would be from "my documents" and "my pictures" from the old PC. I've searched thru everything. The only file I can't get into is one under Users with my name. When I click it, it says I don't have permission to view it, then also asks if I'd like to give myself permission (with the administrator shield icon). When I click yes, it just hangs on a loading circle for... Well, forever.

How can I get into this folder? I really need some files off it, and I'm sure they're in there. On the other sub I asked this too and I was told "just give yourself permissions". Yeah...

Buyer wants refund over holiday week delay

Edit: package details from USPS say this:

Latest Update Your item was returned to the Post Office for address verification on July 1, 2026 at 12:52 pm in [Redacted] because of an incomplete address. Your item will go out for delivery on the next delivery day if the address can be verified.

Second exit: I've Google maps'd it - and they entered an incorrect address. Even Google says the address they entered is "wrong" and refers to an internal address to a large collection of apartments, so that's why USPS can't find it.

(Original post:)

Basically, what should I do or expect? She's demanding a refund, which I mean, it wasn't much, but I'm always trying to be aware of the communication and effect this may have on my account /funds (after all, this is for profit).

Item was shipped out June 28. On July 1, it arrived at the destination center and has been "out for delivery" since. Being a reasonable American, I know the USPS was probably inundated with packages, shorted employees, and all locations closed on Saturday the 4th with many being closed Friday the 3rd as well. I know the one in my town was INCREDIBLY busy. This means logically to me that even if the package arrived before 5 pm on the 1st, to go "out for delivery" on the 2nd, if anything happened, like it was forgotten and sent back to the facility to be re-delivered, that it probably won't happen until Monday. I actually tried to ship more packages Friday and got told by my local office it may be best to wait til next week (starting tomorrow) because they were so busy.

My small pet peeve is people buying things, demanding refunds, and keeping the item at the expense of.. whatever they're buying from (for anything/anywhere).

Should I request the buyer wait until at least 5 pm Monday?

Or should I just take the hit and process it now? Naturally I would not refund shipping costs as.. well.. it was clearly shipped, and the buyer knows it.

For additional info, this item is less than 15$, BUT it is not something replaceable. They don't make it anymore. I don't particularly care to get it back tho, as shipping it back plus a refund would leave me in a negative - for some reason shipping that was 10$.

Change default "ship" time

Hello I seem to recall at some point I told eBay that it would take me 3 days to get an order set up or maybe it was 2 days but I can't seem to figure out where to go to change that. As it is now I end up selling enough items that I pretty much have to go every Wednesday and every Saturday to the post office. I want to make that where I only have to go once a week without getting penalized. Anyone point me in the direction to do that because I'd really rather not have to do it for every single order specifically. I'm looking for the general setting to change it all automatically.

Better pipe recommendations

I have a 15 ft 48 inch deep pool to set up. This is t my first one to set up so.im familiar with that process and maintaining it. My question is.. I see a lot of people use hard pipes instead of the flex hoses. What pipes are y'all using? How do I seal them safely? I know nothing of piping but I am trying to learn. I figure others would know the safe/best things to use rather than my trial and error.

That said also, how do y'all deal with the 90 degree bends? Does it affect or restrict the flow too much? If you have two intakes, do you recommend up sizing the pipes after they join?

It's a best way pool, intex sand pump.

Replacing cheap flex pipes with hard PVC style

Can someone brief me on how to do this properly (like what sealant I need, how to cut seal them, etc). My pool and pump came with the pool stretchy flex pipes but I'm tired of them busting a hole every year (and I don't notice til half the pool is gone). The sun simply beats the shit out of them.

I see others with hard PVC pipes they do themselves. What sealant is safe to use? I've not done piping work but I'm no stranger to Jimmy rigging and starting it.

Thanks.

Edit: It's a best way 14 foot 48 inch deep above ground pool. I already have to modify it to work with my Intex Sand Pump intake/return. The tubes I have with it are "Intex pool pump hose". It's the ones that are rigid plastic, but are bumpy with variations so they're "flexible" like the bend in a bendy straw. I'm in Texas, so the blasting sun each summer tends to blow a hose come the next spring.

Anyone else noticing...?

An absolutely huge uptick of credit disputes/bank disputes? It seems like this year alone.. every since tax season.. it's been dispute after dispute. People ordering 100s of dollars in food and items, and then telling their bank it was a fraudulent charge and having it disputed... Then we have to fight it with receipts, signature, camera footage .. I mean don't get me wrong, they always existed, but we went from maybe 1-2 every 3-4 months (being usually 25-50$) to 1-2 A WEEK (averaging 80-100$).

This can't just be us. I had asked my company if it was just my location because it was so odd, and they confirmed it is NOT just my location - but all of the stores they own, and even sister stores experiencing this too.

Is this some "mass exodus" style disputing?!

Fixing door seals (assistance)

Hello. I have recently taken on the task of replacing my door deals (never been done before), after my back doors bottom seal simply fell off. At inspection, I found it slides into this rail, but also had been nailed into place (possibly damaging the seal when it was done, contributing to its demise, but that's neither here nor there). Wasn't us. Was before us.

Anyway, I found the appropriate seal that fits, in a color we like, trimmed to piece, and I thought it would be as easy as sliding it into the railing.

Apparently not so much. It keeps falling off. Tbh, this door is huge, heavy, and old. I also have cats. Taking it off the hinges to lay it down and nail.in the seal isn't a very good option.

Is there a sealant or special glue or something I can use and just glue it in place? It stays in on its own about 75% of the time as long as the door isn't opened more than halfway, so it "fits", I just can't get it to STAY.

Also, on a side note, who knows what the seal around the left/right/upper portion of the doorframe is called, and how to replace that? It seems our seals have a sort of flap on one end that has been sammiched between the door frames wood pieces. Am I able to just cut that off and get something else to lay in its place without destroying the doorframe to get it out?

Thanks!

Shipping Preferences

I set mine up for USPS I think, or people always choose it. Is there a way to set up "USPS or UPS"? The USPS station is far from my house and the one near my workplace is always closed. There is a UPS drop off within two minutes of my home. I was wondering if there's a way to give buyers the two options and hope they pick UPS most of the time (but I could keep the USPS as an option for cheaper shipping as I notice it's 1-2$ cheaper on average).

It's not a big deal but I tried poking at it and couldn't really figure it out.

When Growing.. how do you combat pests/bugs?

My feeds have been showing me a lot of Homesteading stuff. I have dabbled in it before. We had raised beds. I had planted lettuces and kales, zucchini, cucumber, eggplants, strawberries, blueberries, etc. we had peach trees and pear, apple and lemon, lime, orange, and grapefruit.

But it was an absolute PITA. The grapefruits were small and few. The oranges as well. Idk how/why my lemons were massive. Peaches rotted. Before they fell. Strawberries and kale went hambone, but pretty much everything else either yielded no fruit or died. Even the strawberries molded too quickly from "aw look at the tiny berry" to "wtf mushy mess...".

The biggest pain for me tho was.. the bugs. I'm in Houston area Texas. We got fire ants, mosquitoes out the ass, fruit flies, horse flies, and all sorts of other things. I was using Sevin back then, but even that says to use only during SPECIFIC TIMES or it poisons the produce and you get NOTHING.

So how do you combat those?

Grocery prices are getting a tad insane. I've been looking into home stuff to help. According to what I've seen, potatoes (I never tried these) take 10-12 weeks only. Garlic. Onions. They seem "easy enough". But the bugs... The money wouldn't be a problem, but I can't eat something that I'm scared I poisoned unknowingly.

Adoption Event Restrictions

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has any insight (be it by any law, company policy, or logistical issue) that is currently restricting our local Adoption Group. From Petsmart themselves, we are simply being told its now a thing and there arent any real laws/issue being explained other than "you can't do that". It's coming from higher up so I'm not sure where along the line they're forgetting to relay actually why.

Basically our local nonprofit agency does adoption events at Petsmart. It's been years and years of this. I want to say at least 8 years. During these events they also sell custom made jewelry, cups, tumblers, blankets, and other little trinkets to help supplement donations. These are a good chunk of their funds, as many people in our area don't like "donating" but will purchase something (even if it's overpriced) specifically because they know it's been handmade by the volunteers and 100% profit goes to the Agency.

Recently Petsmart has said no selling anything. At all. Whatsoever. They cannot have flyers displaying items that could be purchased, even if it's at a later date. They basically cannot advertise at all. They've said even if it's not something in competition with Petsmart.

What's worse, they say no donation books either. Many local businesses have offered the Agency "donation coupons" or booklets, specifically designed for the Agency to be able to sell them and people can use them at the other businesses for discounts. Gives the Agency funds and brings the businesses customers. These are specifically designed to help donation groups.

I'm just wondering what's up because I always thought of Petsmart as being pro-adoption and working well with adoption agencies.

EDIT TO CLARIFY: I'm not officially part of their group but I am helping and doing what I can. At my business, I have their donation boxes set up and I am coordinating the donations to them from here. I also sent quite a few items for them to be able to sell for donations.. It's not just "random crap trinkets", but they were making subliminated tumblers, glass cups, charm bracelets, and blankets - most of them are retirees doing what they can for the pets.

Guess the outcome! Part rant part see what happens/guess

Wondering what y'all thinks is gonna happen in (checks imaginary watch) t-minus 4, hours from now for this situation.

This is a partial rant and partial just guessing at what's gonna happen. Have fun with it. If you think he's gonna be reasonable, explode, try to work it out, not speak at all! Forget! Whatever!

I already know y'all are gonna say get rid of him :p it's what I would say. Tbh, I havent because he.. ahem.. almost no longer existed himself and I felt like firing him was just one more stab in the chest, and I just couldn't.

Got a guy, been working for me about 1.5 yrs. Okay worker, I guess. Has his ups and downs, but finally going great. Anyway, I meant to pull him aside last week, and tell him how much of a wonderful job he's been doing and how he really seems to have settled into an ease of working. I had a very busy week and forgot. That's ok. Was gonna do it tonight. Really let him know I'm proud and appreciate him.

Except this last week.... To me, he's given wild excuses. Sick, back hurts, injured, etc, but then he goes and shows up 1-2 hours late saying he's fine, and then tells coworkers he was helping family. To me, he's been playing the "I'm showing up anyway even tho I'm injured cus I know you have a busy week and see what all I do for YOU?" (He literally said that to me mid-week).

However... Since he said that to me, I've finally gotten a few days off (and my managers have graciously left me alone to rest) - but he's been running his mouth about how ACTUALLY he got a second job. He's been harassing my manager "I make more than YOU now! How's that feel?! How's it feel huh?! Answer! Knowing I MAKE MORE THAN YOU but you're a MANAGER?" (For reference, this "second job" is a heavy lifting/load/construction job, he's a young male and my manager is a very petite female, so it's not like she can go gnab this job too and be on fair even ground - it's literally out of her grasp). He started gloating. It's mostly to her because the other employees are off by then. She said it feels like hes bullying her - he's so persistent about nagging her about it, with this big malicious smile (I know exactly what she's talking about as he's done it to me and it 100% feels like he's enjoying how uncomfortable it makes ya... but since I'm older, idgaf and I shut that down quick because the alternative is me getting real mean, real quick).

I told her she has my full support to tell him to (basically) stfu about the other job, focus on this one while he's here, and quit harassing her with it.

Apparently.. he told her he was gonna "talk to me" tonight about this "second job situation".

So.... I'm expecting an explosion ya?

I'm betting he will...

  1. Gloat about the other job.

  2. Demand to know if I would "miss him".

  3. Tell me he expects to quit soon.

  4. Ask how much I am paid so he could compare.

  5. Get mad when I don't give an answer. (Which he will persist and insist and force a situation where I have to go Silent Treatment).

  6. Try to get my Coworker "on his side" (it's the only day of the week we work samesies).

  7. Realize he's revealed he'd been lying all week. That the managers talk. That they tell their supervisors. And I know. And my coworker knows. And that's why we aren't engaging in his "trap" questions.

  8. Get more mad. Get loud. Start the insults and self-deprecation and fishing for compliments.

  9. Realize it isn't working and go quiet.

  10. Quit tonight, or wait mid-week and do a surprise quit.

I'm not worried. I've got a crew plan. It's just.. do we really need to do this song and dance...??

Also. Side note. Not sure what word I typed that flags advertisement xD

"Sun Visor" Help

Hello and I really hoping somebody could help me out I have been trying to find a replacement for this sun visor in my car. It is loose and hangs low and when I step on the brakes it flies in front of my view. It was fine until my mom borrowed my car and folded it down and we heard a loud click and it hasn't worked right since.

I tried googling sun visors for my car but all I get are the stupid little fold up ones from Walmart that you can put in your window and I'm looking for the actual improvement to my vehicle.

I've also tried looking at a couple of junk yards but unfortunately they're worse than the ones that I've got.

My cAr is a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire.

Any help would greatly be appreciated even if it's like the correct title of this parts that I can find it more precisely that would be a great help

Help with automation

I don't normally use a ton of automation in astroneer mostly because other than the auto arm, the names of them aren't exactly intuitive - and I've tried following tutorials precisely and had less than stellar results.

Anyway... Is there a way to auto activate trader shuttles so I don't have to keep checking on them every 30 seconds? I've got all the input/output set up, but just the clicky click is needed. It's very annoying.

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know of a good website or any place that I can get this replacement cover around the gear shift in my mom's car? It was very brittle and we accidentally hit it with something which made the whole thing shatter and when my mechanic had to take it apart to fix something it just kind of crumbled into pieces.

I want to improve the aesthetics of her car and this is a major piece that she notices. Also occasionally a new piece will fall off and fall into the area below it which I don't like.

Any help is appreciated.

The car is a 2004 Saturn ion.

Side note I am not opposed to going to a junkyard and attempting to find a vehicle to get the part out of but the last time I did that for a different vehicle it actually turned out to be decently hard to find the exact parts and they were spread so far apart between different sections that it took forever.
