$$ why so expensive???

My 6 year old still wets the bed at night. She is a very restless sleeper. She will wake up, because the nighttime pull up is wet, take it off and put on a new one. She is going through 2-3 a night. This is crazy expensive. I think we spend more on her overnight pull ups, than we do in diapers for our baby.

Has anyone found a way to get Goodnights cheaper? Or found a bulk distributor that will send a large amount at a discount?

I effed up

My daughter was screaming her head off tonight and I just put our baby down. She just repeated “I need to scream” as she was screaming. I don’t even know what prompted this. I was trying to get her to calm down but she ended up hitting me and kicking me. She then woke up the baby. The baby is screaming, she’s trying to go in the babies room and I’m preventing her from going in the room - she’s fighting me, running into me over and over And then I pushed her to the ground. I asked her what is wrong with you?? Something in me just lost it. I’m confused, worried, and I just feel like the worst mom in the world. Ive been on the verge of tears all night. I’ve been under a lot of stress lately and this transition to 2 kids has been HARD. The guilt is eating me alive and I just can’t believe I let the screaming and fighting get to me so much. I’m embarrassed to post this, but I know this can never happen again, I need to be calm for my child, I’m writing because I need to know what others do when you are overstimulated to the max.

I think my 6 year old may be on the spectrum

I am not sure if this is the right reddit group to post - if it's not, my apologies. I just feel like I am a breaking point.

Alright, my first and oldest daughter is 6. She is a beautiful, beat to her own drum kind of girl. She can be very social, and loves learning. Since she was 1, she has been incredibly picky on food. She only ate yogurt out of and goldfish from age 1 to 2. We joke that when she started learning how to walk, she learned to run and has been running ever since. She is a sensory seeker, and has sensory sensitivies with clothings. (she wears dresses all year long, with or without pants depending on the weather). I have researched everything to know regarding a sensory diet to keep our daughter regulated.

Our 6 year olds inflexibility is tough. If she thinks something will happen, there is absolutely no changing this course, there will be a melt down. The meltdowns have been consistent throughout her life. We just got better at managing it with a set schedule, limited screen time, etc.

For example, we went to my aunts lake house. We have slept in the same room 3 times in a row. This time we could not sleep in that room - I didn't know this, or honestly think it would be a big deal when we arrived, and she told me we would be in a different room. She could not let this go, and hyperventilated crying for hours about it. It ended in hitting and kicking.

It is hard, because mostly just my husband and I see the meltdowns, the hitting, the kicking, etc. But yesterday, his whole family saw it, and it just made me feel some type of way.

I have mentioned concern to her teachers, but her teachers tell me she is an absolute angel in school. The only thing they can bring up is how hard she is on herself. Which I try to work with her on, she just wants everything to be perfect.

I have brought up concern to her pediatrician multiple times, but because she is very social and interested in the doctors office, they don't take me seriously. I am going to call tomorrow, and say we need an adhd and autism assessment.

If anyone has any advice to offer, that would be amazing.

***edit:
Thank you for the feedback and support, I’m going to call tomorrow and I hope I can get somewhere. I will update this post to let you know how it’s

Ready to throw the tv out of the window

Transitioning from school to summer has been ROUGH over here. Too much tv in the transition. My fault, I guess I did poorly with the transition too 😂

Our tv has been “broken” for a week now. I let my daughter watch the show “out of the box” on my lap top. I’m honestly ready to get rid of tv all together, her behavior is much more regulated. Has anyone done this? How did it work out?

6 year old is so mean

My 6 year old is TOUGH. She has a lot going on - a sprained ankle and just ended school. She has a 6 month old sister. I understand she really is going through a lot but I also have no idea what to do in the now.

She is mean - yells, demands, says very hurtful statements. Honestly I’m in shock with how disrespectful and mean she has been. I have been calm with her, every now and then I lose it, because it’s insane how she is talking to us. I take things away when she gets really bad. It’s one thing to express your emotions but she cannot talk to me like this. Or anyone for that matter.

She is yelling and freaking out so loudly, that it wakes up our other daughter, then she starts crying.

I have tried talking to her when she’s calm, she does not want to talk to me. She tells me that she doesn’t like me and doesn’t want to talk to me. I honestly feel like I have a teenager.

We have cut tv out of the equation all together because I feel it’s negatively affecting her.

I spent all morning with her, coloring and filling our connection cup, together. Out of no where, she is screaming at me.

I am constantly on the verge of tears because I don’t understand how I can help her. I feel like a failure. Im considering taking her to counseling.

Any thoughts?

4 months

I’ve been in Strattera for 4 months. I’m 6 months post partum. Last baby I had, I was incredibly irritable and depressed post partum. I decided to go on Strattera 2 months PP because I was struggling. I had to cut down to one cup of coffee because I was struggling with irritability and anger after coffee.

Now, I can’t stand my job. So I’m really quite irritable at work, they are constantly trying to push more work onto my already very full work load. I really do not have patience for BS.

I can’t tell if it’s my job, my PP depression, or Strattera that’s causing my struggle bus.

I’m debating quitting coffee, see if that improves my overall mood. Anyone else take Strattera post partum?

Fairhaven state park

So we are going to Fairhaven state park in a few weeks, and this will be our first time. My daughter just broke her ankle, so she’s in a cast. This isn’t the most ideal vacation with a cast but we shall figure it out.

Does anyone know if they have fishing off of a pier? Any pictures I see is off a shore. We are trying to find a non-sand area to fish so I know she can do at least one activity. Which may be difficult - any info will be helpful!

Neighbors..

So we moved to the west coast 6 years ago. We have a neighbor who lives down the street from us - she is 5 years older than our daughter who is 5. It was nice at first for our daughter to have an immediate friend. I’ll call our neighbor kid “ B”. Our daughter and B hang out a lot. We take B to a lot of places with us. She eats at our house all the time. We have run into issues with the age difference. My husband and I agreed maybe to give them some space as the neighbor will probably want to hang out with other girls her age.

Whenever B comes into our house, it’s a path of destruction. It’s not just her, whenever my daughter and the B get together, it’s pure insanity. I’ve explained if they come into the house, they have to clean up. I’ve showed B where things go since she has been at our house so frequently.

My husband came home to the pure destruction one day and just had it. He yelled at our daughter with the neighbor there. I don’t agree with this and I told him there are better ways to handle it. We agreed that it won’t happen again and he had a moment. I could tell she was very uncomfortable when she left. Now our neighbors won’t even look at us, or say hi. B still comes over but you can tell she’s apprehensive to us but not our daughter. It’s just weird, they won’t talk to us but still send her our way. I’m a little over it - what do you think of this?

I have a 6 year old and a 5 month old. My 6 year old is tough. I love her dearly, but she pushes every boundary lately and I can’t handle it. From 5-bedtime is my dreaded point. I have been losing it on her lately.

She has a lot of sensory sensitivities, possibly adhd, possibly on the spectrum. If I tell her no, she pushes and pushes and pushes. So I lay down a stronger boundary…she pushes more, then I end up losing my shit. I was terrified of my Dad, I didn’t push him. I don’t want her to be scared of me, but I need her to hear that I’m not playing around. I take stuff away and it’s a complete meltdown. It’s a lot every day. It would probably be helpful to get a diagnosis. I’m not sleeping well. I’m just so angry lately.

I just went back to work 2 weeks ago and I’m angry about that too.

My only peace are my audio books and e-readers. I’m miserable. This is supposed to be a happy time and I feel like I’m ruining my relationship with my 6 year old.

Thanks for listening.

I’m just at my breaking point. I’m on meds, but I just think this dumb ass post partum needs to run its course. Thanks for listening.
