Could you briefly explain the status of the Russian language in the cities I will list below?

Tel Aviv, Netanya, Eilat, Rishon LeZion, Rehovot, Jerusalem, and Beersheba. Could you divide these cities into several categories (for example, many Russian speakers, a moderate number of Russian speakers, and few Russian speakers) and assign each city from the list to one of them? You don’t have to explain your answer—you can literally answer in just a few words.

To what extent are Mountain Jews from Chechnya proficient in the Chechen language?

In theory, they should have learned it at school, heard it spoken in everyday life, and watched at least some TV programs in Chechen. But the same was true for ethnic Russians from Chechnya, and most of them don't speak Chechen. So I'm curious whether Mountain Jews do.

A question for the children of repatriates from Russia (or another Russian-speaking country) who were either born in Israel or repatriated in early childhood.

How would you rate your proficiency in Russian, and what factors have influenced your command of it, other than speaking Russian with your relatives?

Does the choice of a second foreign language in Israeli schools depend on the wishes of the student and their parents? If so, which languages can they choose from?

Are there many schools where Russian is taught as a second foreign language? If so, can an immigrant from a Russian-speaking country choose it?

I believe that survivor's pensions should be paid regardless of the reason for the loss of the breadwinner. I will explain why below.

Let us imagine a hypothetical situation: an Israeli Arab commits a terrorist attack (I do not justify this, but the point is different). He has a large family. His wife has only a high school education and no work experience, so she cannot find a decent job, and she has no time to work because she has many children to raise. Since the state does not provide benefits in such situations, she would receive financial support from the Palestinian Authority out of desperation, while Israel fights against this payment system. Why should the children starve because of what their father did?

The counterargument is that a person may know his family will be taken care of, which could make him less afraid to carry out a terrorist attack. However, I believe this does not outweigh the basic needs of his children, who are not responsible for their father's actions.

A Translation of Qur'an 51:47 by a Doctor of Philology That Does Not Align with the Scientific Miracle Narrative

I will now present to you a Russian translation of the Qur'an that was published between 1995 and 1999. This translation is one of the principal versions used by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia. It was prepared by Magomed-Nuri Osmanovich Osmanov, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Director of the Institute of Islamic Studies at Dagestan State University, and an Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation.

It is worth noting that this translation was published after this verse had already begun to be cited as one of the so-called "scientific miracles" of the Qur'an. Here is how this verse is translated:

«Мы воздвигли небо своею мощью, ибо Мы могучи.»

You can copy this text and paste it into any translator. It explicitly says not "We are expanding," but rather "We are mighty."

How do you respond to this anti-Zionist counterargument?

They often counter the argument that Jews were persecuted throughout history by saying that Palestinians should not have to pay for European antisemitism. I disagree with that framing. Antisemitism was not exclusively a European phenomenon; it also existed in the Arab world. One only has to look at the historical status of Jews in places like Yemen or Morocco to see that. It's also worth considering the anti-Jewish pogroms that took place in Arab countries after the rise of Zionism (although anti-Jewish violence also occurred before Zionism), as well as the collaboration of some Arabs—including some Palestinian Arab leaders and groups—with the Nazis.

How does this align with the position that there are no scientific miracles in the Qur'an?

Critics of this idea argue that the Qur'an's description of the stages of embryonic development is not a scientific miracle because similar descriptions can be found in the works of Aristotle and Galen. However, their works had not been translated into Arabic, Muhammad was illiterate, and Galen made mistakes in his descriptions that are not found in the Qur'an. I'm not claiming that this is a scientific miracle—I'm simply asking a question. I won't argue if you can provide a good explanation for this.

Refuting Islamophobic Arguments

  1. "Prophet Muhammad was a pedophile." Even if he did marry Aisha when she was six and the marriage was consummated when she was nine, that does not necessarily make him an immoral person. At that time, medical knowledge was far too limited for people to understand that a nine-year-old girl could not give informed consent to marriage or that sexual intercourse at such a young age could be harmful to her health. People should not be condemned for something they could not reasonably have known.

  2. "Offensive jihad." I am not going to claim that offensive jihad never existed—it clearly did. However, it existed in a time before international treaties prohibited such actions. Today, those treaties do exist, and all Muslim-majority countries are parties to them. These treaties prohibit offensive warfare, and treaties must be honored. This is the unanimous opinion of all four Sunni schools of jurisprudence. As long as these treaties remain in force, there can be no legitimate offensive jihad, and no one is planning to withdraw from them.

  3. "Discrimination against women." Even if Islam does discriminate against women, why do you single out Islam? Why don't you also criticize Orthodox Judaism for discrimination against women? In many respects, its rules are even more restrictive. For example, if in Islam a woman's testimony is accepted only in certain types of cases or may carry less weight in specific circumstances, then in Orthodox Judaism women's testimony is generally not accepted in many religious court proceedings. Likewise, if under Islamic inheritance law a daughter receives half the share of a son, then under traditional Orthodox Jewish inheritance law a daughter may receive no inheritance at all if there are sons. Therefore, if you criticize these aspects of Islam, then, to be objective and consistent rather than selective, you should criticize Orthodox Judaism at least as strongly.

Feel free to present more arguments, and I'll share my opinion on them.

A Weak Argument Against the Quran's "Scientific Miracle" About Iron Coming from Space

"People before Islam extracted iron from meteorites, which means they knew that iron came to Earth from space." Iron extracted from meteorites made up only a small fraction of all the iron people used, and it was very different from the iron mined from the ground. Would anyone really make a general statement based on such a small and unrepresentative fraction, especially when they themselves understood that it differed from the primary source of iron? And please don't tell me that the phrase "sent down" in the Qur'an is usually used metaphorically—that is a separate argument.

What's the point of being interested in politics, history, and the like if you're not interested in philosophy?

After all, it would be difficult for such a person to explain why they believe their moral position is the right one. Without even a basic understanding of logic, they wouldn't be able to argue for their views effectively. They also wouldn't be able to recognize logical fallacies in their opponent's arguments and would likely commit them themselves. And that's only one of many drawbacks. So what's the point?

Why were Ethiopians allowed to repatriate to Israel?

They did not undergo a giyur (conversion to Judaism); their conversion to Judaism does not meet the halakhic requirements for giyur. Their Levantine ancestry is also minimal, and even the form of Judaism they adopted without giyur differs greatly from mainstream Judaism.
