From a conservative Muslim family to my first bottle of gin need guidance.

Hey everyone,

I'm 21, and this is probably a weird post, but I genuinely need some advice.

I grew up in a very conservative Muslim family, so I've never had alcohol before. Recently, I bought a bottle of Murree Brewery London Dry Gin, and now it's just sitting on my shelf because I honestly have no idea what I'm doing.

I love listening to music, and I thought it might be nice to have a relaxing evening with some good songs and see what the experience is like. I'm not trying to get blackout drunk or do anything reckless, I just want to learn and have a safe first experience.

I'd really appreciate some brotherly advice from people with experience:

How much should a complete beginner drink for the first time?

What's a good quantity to start with without overdoing it?

Should I drink it straight or mix it?

What are some super easy gin cocktails I can make with common ingredients?

Any tips for making the experience enjoyable without feeling sick or ruining the night?

And what do you wish someone had told you before your first drink?

Please don't judge me. I'm genuinely clueless and would rather learn from people who've been through it than make beginner mistakes.

Thanks in advance, brothers. 🍻🎧

Can't stop thinking about what I saw at Hill Park last night.

Was walking through Hill Park last night around 10 PM when I noticed two Chinese old men sitting on the grass facing each other. At first I assumed they were playing chess or some sort of game because of how focused they looked.

But when I got closer, there was nothing there. No chess board, no cards, not even a phone. Just the two of them sitting there.

What made it weird was that neither of them seemed distracted by anything around them. They were completely silent, maintaining eye contact for long periods. The whole thing almost looked like some kind of ritual, meditation, or practice, but I couldn't tell what it was.

I walked past them, got curious, and looked back after about 10 to15 seconds. They hadn't moved at all and were still doing the exact same thing. Since the park was pretty empty at that time, the whole scene felt a little surreal.

Maybe it's something completely normal and I'm just overthinking it, but I've never seen anything like that before. Anyone know what they might have been doing?

GIKI is NOT what I expected at all

My cousiin goes to GIKI and no joke, every time we talk it sounds like the entire campus is either grinding some insane project, surviving on caffeine and vibes, or already min-maxing their life plan through 2036.

What's the actual day2day lore over there? What's something about GIK that people on the outside are completely sleeping on?

Legit just curious.

Something followed me home from an abandoned place… and it didn’t stay silent

I don’t even know how to explain this without sounding like I’m trying to scare people, but I need to get it out.

A few days ago, I went with friends to an abandoned building outside the city nothing dramatic, just curiosity and photos. It felt off the moment we entered. Not “haunted house movie” off, just… heavy. Like the air wasn’t moving properly.

We stayed maybe 20–30 minutes. No weird sounds, no jumpscares. Just a constant feeling that we were being watched from different angles, even when nothing was there.

The strange part started after I got home.

That night, my door fully shut made a slow clicking sound like someone was testing the handle from the outside. I live alone. No wind, no drafts. I checked everything. Nothing.

Since then, it’s been small things:

Objects slightly moved from where I left them

My phone lighting up with no notifications

A faint knocking sound at random times, always 3–4 knocks

I keep trying to rationalize it, but the timing is too specific. It started the same day we went there.

Has anyone experienced something like this after visiting an abandoned place? I’m not saying something “followed” me… but I can’t ignore how it all started right after that visit.

Which social trend has changed Islamabad the most?

For thosse who've been here a while: what do you think has had the biggest impact on the city's social fabric over the last 10–15 years?

To me, Islamaabad feels noticeably more performative than it used to. Cafés, friendships, even everyday outings increasingly feel mediated through social media rather than experienced directly.

What's the primary driver in your view?

Influencer culture, class signaling, migration, TikTok, religiosity, DHA-ification, declining social trust, or something else entirely?

Curious what others see as the inflection point.
