What is this banding effect on the lights in The Thing?

I'm writing a podcast episode about The Thing. We've done John Carpenter movies before and I've noticed this, primarily in Escape From New York's exterior lighting, and I've always wondered what it is about the camera/film/lighting that does this. I associate it closely with DP Dean Cundey.

edit: lights interacting with an anamorphic lens. I appreciate the info!

Advice please: White/black makeup and my first encapsulated appliance

I'm an actor at a haunt in New England and I recently made a silicone appliance for a pretty big costume upgrade. It's supposed to look like someone burned my face with a cross similar to Evil Ed in Fright Night (but upside down). A piece above my eye and one below, attached to my cheek. I did a makeup test with one of the first appliances to come off the mold and it was a pretty janky appliance but I eventually figured out how to consistently get a decent result with the molds. I have some questions, though.

I put it on with Pros-Aide and it seemed to hold well. I passed on a silicone adhesive simply because it's a little more than I can afford to pay right now (plus it seems like you need to also order remover and thinner which just jacks the price up even more (for Telesis 9, at least). I let the Pros-Aide dry with a hair dryer before I put it on so it's not like it went on wet but when I pulled the applications off they trapped a lot of sweat underneath and I worry that this thing is going to end up falling off in the middle of the show. Is this something I should worry about? Will the same thing happen if I use the silicone adhesive?

The rest of my face is made up like a skull (think Papa Emeritus from Ghost) using black and white Mehron cream make up. The cream make up blended real weird with the appliance, though. It made the edges REALLY stand out even though I felt like I blended the edges pretty well with acetone. The makeup on the appliance appears thicker and not as translucent as the makeup on my skin. It basically looked like I was wearing something on my face. I obviously need a new approach to the makeup I just don't know what that is. Any thoughts?

A couple of things work to my advantage here. My set is dimly lit and I'm not in guest's faces. I also wear a sort of wreath of thorns around my eyes and all of this obscures the flaws a bit but it's going to bother the shit out of me and cast photos will look ass if I don't fix this.

Last year's haunt costume: Saint Damien

This is last year's costume at Haunted Overload. This year's season is approaching and I'm getting real excited. Making repairs and upgrades so it'll be even cooler this time.

Feedback on my sculpts please

I'm an actor at an awesome haunt attraction. I used rigid collodion last year to give the appearance of an inverted cross scar over my eye and it worked fine but I wanted to make some real upgrades to the costume this year. So I'm sculpting what is intended to look like a cross burned into my face. The part on the left will go above my eye. The part on the right under my eye. For a first time sculpting such a thing I feel like it came out pretty well but I'm about to cast them and I'm wondering if there's too much clay surrounding the scar. Should I reduce that?

[Online][WoD][Mon/Tue/Wed after 7pm GMT-4][18+] Looking to join a Vampire coterie

It's been a little while since I've had a regular gaming group and I'm missing it. I have played nearly all of the core WoD books (excluding Wraith) going back to the 90's and have experience running but not playing Vampire 5e which is ideally the game I'd like to join. My favorite games are horror games (WoD, Kult, Delta Green, and Call of Cthulhu, in particular). I recently came up with an idea for a Lasombra that I'd really like to try out so hopefully I find a group that's open to that.

No paid campaigns, please.

My ideal VtM campaign is light on action and combat and favors drama, story, and character with an emphasis on kindred society, politics, and the various conspiracies. No shade, but I'm of the opinion that if your vampire game involves a lot of action and combat you're doing it wrong.

Is there a way to loop tracks similar to the MIDI loop?

I have two vocal samples that I'd like to sync with the beat and then loop throughout the song like you can with MIDI looping. It seems like something you can do with Reaper. I just have no idea how. Any help would be appreciated.

Looking for plugins/scripts to poison AI training on our episodes

Lately, our analytics suggest pretty strongly that our episodes are being downloaded in bulk and probably used to train AI. I've done some googling but I'm not finding anything useful. There's a lot of articles about poisoning audio files and github repositories meant to sidestep AI poisoning but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I'm looking for either a script to post-process my audio so AI models get nothing from us. Ideally, there's a VST plugin.

Any ideas?

You absolutely need to see Buffet Infinity

I'm at a loss to explain what this movie is even about but it's easily one of the most original things I've seen in a while. A cosmic horror story told by a rapid-fire series of Canadian TV ads that become more aggressive and sinister as the movie goes on and a buffet restaurant that keeps expanding in the city until everything is absorbed into it. It'll seem familiar to fans of I Think You Should Leave, Tim and Eric, Too Many Cooks, and the Adult Swim Yule Log.

Looking for advice on how to make a Rammstein mouth light rig

I'm an actor at a haunt attraction and I'm starting to put together ideas to upgrade my costume for this year's season (a cross between Pinhead from Hellraiser and Papa Emeritus from Ghost). This year I want to make a run at Til Lindemann's mouth light appliance. He used to have a hole punched through his cheek and a fiber optic rig was fed through it. It was metal as hell but looked like the sort of thing that was constantly infected so he swapped it out for something smaller and more practical. You can see it in these pictures. I just can't tell what it is or how it works. Looking for thoughts and ideas on how to pull this off.

From those pictures you can clearly see that there's a single discreet cable going into his mouth, probably fixed to a tooth or an appliance similar to a retainer. That cable could be a single fiber optic cable or a very thin-gauge power cable attached to an LED. I doubt its the latter, though. It's way too small to contain pos/neg/ground wires. The former is challenging as well. There are portable fiber optic illuminators but they're usually meant for bundles of cable and not singles.

I can work with electronics. I can solder. I've made a ton of makeup appliances in the past so the practical application of wearing such a device is no problem. It's the actual creation of a bright light connected to a power source that's throwing me.

Thoughts?

edit: I'm starting to get this figured out. There's also an Argentinian street performer named Michelo2.0 who blew up on Tiktok a ways back with a very similar rig. It appears to be a high-intensity LED attached to a dental appliance and powered by a bettery pack hidden in his costume. Since I already wear a fan appliance, I can very easily make that happen. I just need to source wires with a small enough gauge to make it concealable.
