USB signal splitter?

USB signal splitter?

Does anyone know of a device that can take a single USB input and send it to two computers simultaneously?

We have an X-Keys controller for a teleprompter that we'd like connected to two Mac laptops running the same software and script. The goal is redundancy: if the primary Mac fails, we can switch to the backup and have the script/control position stay in sync.

Is there a USB splitter, duplicator, or other hardware solution that can send the controller's input to both Macs at the same time?

Pic for attention.

How we lose free things

If you’re going to charge for more than 4 hours (the limit), please don’t just drop charging cables on the ground and walk away. Like that Volkswagen (EV-WI BBN-1527)—that’s how we lose free charging. At least hang it up if you don’t want to plug it back into the post.

If all of these hot dog stands use Vienna Beef, why do they all taste different?

Why are they all so different? Can someone please explain this to me? They cannot possibly be the same product given the differences in taste and snap.

Stuck on the side of the highway because inflators are cheaper than spares.

My wife got a flat on the interstate today, and apparently that required two tow trucks, three tire changes, several phone calls, and both of us missing half a day of work.

The first tow truck said we needed a flatbed and left. The second flatbedded the car to the nearest gas station because insurance would only authorize the “closest safe location.” A third tow was going to take another 1–2 hours.

Then I discovered my spare had the same bolt pattern as her car. Great! Except it wouldn’t clear the brake caliper. So I put my spare on my car, removed one of my actual wheels, and put that on hers. (Fun fact Focus ST and Mach E both have the same 5x108 pattern)

All of this could have been avoided if the manufacturer had included a spare tire instead of a can of optimism.

Update: whatever cut the tire left a 3" slice, no way to do a roadside patch or one at the shop.

It's finally happened

My wife got a flat tire, our emergency compressor and fix-a-flat won't put any air into it. Stuck on the side of the highway till the tow truck arrives. Gotta love these new cars with less features like "spare tires"

Are extension cords safe?

My dad has a L2 charger installed in his garage. For one reason or another, the placement of the plug on the wall isn't ideal. I've seen extension cords online, are they safe to use if all he needs is an extra few feet?

He has the Ford OEM charger that pulls 32A with a NEMA 14-50.

Anyway to force AC on?

My exterior thermometer isn't working, the car thinks it's -40 outside, so the AC doesn't want to run. Auto is off, set to low, fan set to high.

Fun fact, -40 is both the same temp in C and F!

[SELLING] Weather Guard Rigid Floor for 148" Extended - For Sale $1000

Selling a brand-new, unused Weather Guard rigid floor for a Ford Transit 148-inch extended wheelbase. It is still in the original boxes and is only missing one H-track joining section. Seen in last photo.

You could likely fabricate the piece from aluminum, or it may not be needed if installing the floor in a shorter Transit.

These sell for nearly $1,900 online with shipping and tax, so this is a significant savings.

Pickup only in Downers Grove. Cash only, sold as-is, and no returns or refunds.

Weather Guard Rigid Floor for 148" Extended - For Sale $1000

Hope this is okay to post here, mods.

Selling a brand-new, unused Weather Guard rigid floor for a Ford Transit 148-inch extended wheelbase. It is still in the original boxes and is only missing one H-track joining section. Selling for $1000.

Weather Guard sent me an entire replacement floor instead of the missing part. You could likely fabricate the piece from aluminum, or it may not be needed if installing the floor in a shorter Transit. You can see me pointing to the missing section on my van in the last photo.

These sell for nearly $1900 with tax and shipping, so this is a significant savings.

Pickup only in the Chicago suburbs. Cash only, sold as-is, and no returns or refunds.

Hot dog at a sushi restaurant?

It was a rotary sushi restaurant, they had a bunch of additional things that could be ordered with a touch screen. It's wrapped in sushi rice, nori, and deep fried. Surprisingly, very tasty and had a nice Smoky hit with an extra snap from the nori. My wife was rolling her eyes when I ordered it, I'd get it again!

80/20 Experience or Ideas?

I’m looking to mount a tripod head onto an 80/20 15 Series rail using a linear bearing, as shown in the photo. The goal is to easily adjust and lock the camera’s position anywhere along the rail.

Has anyone built something similar? I’m looking for ideas on the best way to attach a standard tripod head to the bearing plate using a 3/8"-16 screw. Thanks!

Floor upgrades for 350 extended

Has anyone upgraded their van floor? I'm looking at the StabiliGrip Rigid Floor and would love to hear from anyone who has one.

We run a video production and live events company, so our van is constantly being loaded and unloaded with rolling cases, carts, and other gear. A durable, smooth surface that's still non-slip would be ideal.

How has the StabiliGrip floor held up over time? Would you recommend it, or is there another flooring option I should be considering? Thanks!

Help me pick, 2023 vs 2026 Transit 250

2023 Transit 350 with 30K miles for $48K vs. new 2026 for $57K?

I’m replacing my Transit 250 after it was crushed by a tree. My usual dealer has two Transit 350 high-roof, long-wheelbase cargo vans:

  • Used 2023 with about 30,000 miles: $48,000 out the door
  • New 2026 with comparable specs: $57,000 out the door

My business can reasonably afford either one. My initial instinct was that the 2023 would be the better value, but the 2026 is tempting because it has newer technology, no previous wear or unknown history, and the full factory warranty. I also have a ton of accessories from my previous 2023 Transit, not sure how many of them would fit on the 2026.

Is the new van worth an additional $9,000, or would you save the money and buy the 2023? What say you, Reddit?
